Pop and burble not ready, sorry! If anyone has an idle issue, let me know. Compared to all of the AccessPORTs sold, it doesn't seem like many are having the problem. Jeff has made adjustments for the JCW maps that will be coming out in the next update.

Do you have an ETA for the AP for MCSa's? Did MINI make the computer harder to hack, and will using the AP leave tracks even if stock is reinstalled when servicing?

Do you have a 2011 auto? It will be coming out close to the same time as the 2011 manual cars. We don't have an ETA yet.

We took a car with a tune to the dealer, and they weren't able to tell that it's been flashed, but I would recommend taking the flash off a day or two before you go to the dealer. Often the dealer will update your ECU without asking, which would overwrite the ALTA tune.

Yes, I do have an 2011. It's nice to know that the flash does not leave tracks. I have experience reinstalling the stock map, since I used to do it with my K1500 P/U (Hypertech programmer); so no problem there. Thanks for the update.

Hey Chris, I just ordered an AccessPORT yesterday for a 2011 JCW - should I wait to have it shipped until you guys update the maps? Or do you have a timeline when that is supposed to happen?

Thanks!

I take it updating is easy then? I have no idea as I've never used the product before. Thanks for any help!

Yes, updating the AccessPORT is super easy. Basically you download the AccessPORT Manager, there's a ling to it on our website. Then you plug the AccessPORT to your computer with the supplied USB cord, then click the "check for updates" button on the AccessPORT Manager.

The maps aren't programmed to get rid of codes coming from a BOV. It's best to adjust the BOV rather than trying to cover it up it's faults and turning off the CELs.

Plus the stock bov is better than the hks.. Your better off getting the Alta bov spring upgrade

Is there a "blow thru" type mod for the IC pipe? rather having the BPV (or BOV as some call it, even though the stock one recirculates). On my STI I have my IC piping with no BPV attachment, there is just a block off plate where the BPV used to be routed to. Now when I accelerate and then shift it makes a "chirp" sound. Idea behind is to keep the boost up rather than recirculating it and loosing the boost you had. It's not too common as far as I know, very few cars do it; I was just wondering if anyone has heard of that here. Crawford Performance's race STI has the same thing, except they run TS GT35R in their car.

So to my other question, would the AP be able to adapt to it? Since the characteristics changed a bit after that "mod". Not sure what would need to be changed, but I imagine something would need to happen. Other than a pro tune, the AP is the best bet.

Probably a topic for a different thread.

Back on topic, I tested a couple of new stage 3 maps from Jeff with adjustments to try resolving the bouncy idle. While none of the new maps eliminated the issue, I think it has been reduced. Those of us with this symptom should take some comfort in the fact that they are working the issue and seem to be making progress.

My car has a very, very slight fluctuation at idle, that I probably wouldn't have noticed except that I'm looking for it now, and the stock idle is fairly rock solid.

I'm glad Alta is always working to improve the maps, and, at least for me, this issue doesn't diminish my excitement for the AP. From what I've read, I haven't seen anybody that would change their mind after getting one.

The throttle response is so much better than stock, and with the Stage 1 map, my car pulls strong in every gear.

I have a quick question: is it possible to unmarry my wife's AP from her 2008 Forester XT and load the 2011 JCW map to my car temporarily so I can find out if it's enough of a change for me to justify purchase of an AP for myself?

Thanks for asking. The internals are different and can't be converted to a different brand. You could remove it from the Forester 2008 and have it updated to a 2011 WRX / STi though.

We still offer a return within 7 days of receipt if you don't like the POWER! Just must be unmarried and returned in "ad-new" condition. To take advantage just order online, and if you don't like it, simply e-mail sales@ALTAPerformance.com and we will get you the necessary details for the returned. You only pay for shipping.

With that being said, I can't imagine anyone taking advantage of that offer. The giggles after install simply insure your long term desire to keep it!

Thanks again!

Thanks, Adam. Funny thing is, I almost bought a 2011 STI sedan instead of the MINI.

I keep seeing people in here mention very slight tach bounce at idle.

I also see slight idle bounce... but the idle bounce that I see as being the issue are the occasional large idle bounces that rhythmically swing about 300 RPM. When you're idling in the 800-1000 RPM range, that level of bounce is definitely noticeable.
