Drivetrain The Official ALTA AccessPORT Thread
The only think that's driving me crazy is that I promised myself that I'd only pay cash for my mods on THIS car. This means that I have to keep saving.... I want it now!
How about a 90 days same as cash plan?????

i'm currently using factory jcw stage 1 map. the stock throttle doesn't seem to have any idle issues, but the linear throttle does have a bouncy idle upon first starting up after engine has completely cooled down.
I'm sold! My hats off to the guys at Alta for this product. Where to begin..... Installation was incredibly easy. Total time including updating accessport on my computer and flashing the ECU was about 12 minutes.
The throttle is much improved. Sport like throttle when not in sport mode, and crazy responsive when in sport mode.
HP-Not a car rookie, and pretty good at guestimating increases, I would have to say 20-25 to be fair. Much of this HP would HAVE to be due to the increased boost, which is noticeable in every way possible, including sound. I can actually hear my recycler dumping for the first time! I imagine this will only improve with the addition of the Alta CAI this weekend.
Both the recycler and a bit of added grumble to the exhaust (related to the extra hp probably) are a nice touch, and make a stock Mini that always sounded a little timid, just a touch meaner.
Lastly, the biggest difference overall would have to be the pull you get at higher RPM's compared to stock. Again, the increased boost has a lot do with this I'm sure. Once the turbo is nice and spooled, depress the throttle even a centimeter, and the frame wants to leave the body behind.
I am very happy with this purchase, and it's nice knowing that as I build on the car, this product will ensure I'm getting the most out of all the $ I'm putting into it.
Looking forward to when I can flash the ECU to stage 2!

guys....thanks for the pointers. I was assuming 'physically' uninstalled as opposed to actually uploading the factory map and then re-loading the tune after running through the update process. I will report back with my results when I get a chance (probably this weekend).
Sorry, we don't do that, but we can take payments, but we can't ship the part until it's fully paid for, thanks!
Sa-weet! Glad you are rocking an rollin! Let us know if we can help with anything else!
Significant difference! Extremely happy with the results in my 2009 JCW Clubman.
Will the Access Port be available for the R60 Countryman Cooper S in the future?
I think a Countryman S All4 would be fantastic with the usual R56 kinda mods!!
I'm at the point of trying to decide what i should buy next year- R56 Cooper S or R60 Countryman Cooper S All4. Having the Access Port available for the R60 would make my choice a lot easier!

I think I did reply to that a few pages back, but it's OK. We are working on compatibility with the Countryman. Once we get the AccessPORT working on the 2011 S, the Countryman shouldn't be to far behind, thanks!
Chrissamyn,
We are still working on the compatibility of the AccessPORT with the 2011 MCS. Once we get it working, we will update the page on our website that you order the AccessPORT from, and the first page of this thread, thanks!

Chrissamyn,
If you have a JCW, you will see about 50-70 WHP and 80-100 FT LBS more than stock. You can check out our website with dyno numbers here: http://www.altaperformance.com/pages/show/158

Do you have a timeline on when the Alta AccessPort will be completed for the 2011 MCS? Also, will the price be the same ($895)?

That was obviously an attempt at humor on my part that didn't go over well. I'm still looking at ordering one in the near future. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
