Drivetrain The Official ALTA AccessPORT Thread
thank you so much for asking this question i was very concerned about this because i wanted to be able to get rid of the CEL ive had for so long because of the Alta down pipe! Thank you!!!!!
For those of us with the Alta downpipe (I have the single cat JCW DP on my 2010 MCSm) dose the AccessPORT clear the CEL code that occurs permanently or just until the light come on again. Currently I clear mine every 150 miles or so with a $50 tool i purchased to read and clear codes).
ALTA AccessPORT FAQ Post
Q. Will the ALTA AccessPORT work on the Euro models?
-At this time no. We are working on this at the moment but its going to be a few weeks before we have more info. We would love to hear from you if you have a Euro car and are interested in the AccessPORT so we can better judged the demand.

Any news? I hope there is progress on the euro ECUs
Strategy for getting the dealer to flash the ECU
Just thought I'd thow this out to see if anyone has some tried and true strategies. I have this ECU version for my 2010 Clubman S Auto:
MINI_USA_R56_0089SU0H910B_165_enc.rom
Alta has been fantastic working up a tweaked verson of the Stage I tune that will smooth out the shifting. But it is seeming like a good idea to have the ECU flashed. Problem is, the only issue I can point to in stock mode is the perviously posted tendancy to lag when starting from a rolling stop (lag and lurch or L&L). I don't know if this L&L even qualifies as "broken" let alone if the dealer would flash the ECU for it anyway. So does anyone have some ideas on how to get the dealer to do the flash?

Hey Chris, I am running the stage 1 92 octane map with the stock throttle settings and I have also ran the stage 1 92 oct. TPS map. I am 100% sure that the over-rev was not from a down-shift. I did not get what rpm was recorded from the dealer. Thanks and let me know what you find.
One way that you could have hit the limit without downshifting was if you wait right till redline, and press the clutch in to shift gears, the revs could have gone over the limit. That has happened to us before the AccessPORT.
Is there a chance that the over rev happened before the AccessPORT was installed? Have you taken the car to the dealer since you've installed the AccessPORT and have the dealer check for codes?
We can raise the over rev counter, but we're curious to find out why you got it, and why it was still there after the AP was unmarried.
Sure; you go tell them to do it, and they charge you an hour's labor.
hey fishbert...definitely an option, but I'd gathered from a couple other posts that they can be reluctant to do it. Did your's comply on request?

GREAT!!! I'm putting my pennies together now and it should be sometime later next month when I'll be ready to order.......
>Were they (Alta) able to remedy the L&L by using their tune? Or are you still trying to find a remedy after the tune?
I think it's a lot better. To tell the truth, I've gotten kinda hooked on the extra power and torque, so I can live with a little L&L.

Been trying to retrofit the Harman Kardon amplifier into my 2009 MCS with the HiFi option, and thought having the most current firmware might help get me past my present hurdle (it didn't).
Does this work with a 2011 JCW yet? I thought maybe it would since no major engine updates to the JCW for 2011. I'm picking my car up next week and I'm looking forward to testing the AP with this newer beast.
L&L is John's (jrettew) term for his automatic transmission hesitation. It stands for lag and lurch. Maybe John can chime in here? (John, I knew this would come up again!!)
The AccessPORT has been working on the 2011 JCW for quite some time now, so you are set!
We are still working on the Euro compatibility. We aren't 100% sure yet if we are going to be able to get it to work. Thanks for your interest!

fishbert..sorry to hear it wasn't a fix for you, but evidently they had no problem flashing at your request?
>I was at the dealer a week or two ago and had them update the firmware in all electronic modules in the car that had updates available.

Mflossin...just to add to Chris's explanation...my 2010 Clubman S Auto has had this tendency all along. When you come to a rolling stop, and re-accelerate, there is a delay before the transmission engages. By the time it decides to engage, the pedal is depressed enough that it causes the car to lurch ahead. Not to the point that it is dangerous, just annoying. For some reason, it is most reproducible on a downhill stop. I've searched around message boards enough to know that I'm not alone, but neither is it a universal issue. Hope that helps.

Gotcha and thanks. I have a manual box so I am not affectd by this condition. I do see, however, how that might be annoying! Ah computers...sometimes you wonder if they complicate more than aid.
People that are running the stage 1 with just FMIC 91oct map, can you guys post up some boost numbers? I'm running that map and seem to avg a peak of just under 14...something like 13.6psi and 15 if I overboost. My gf's mini is stock and she seems to get 17psi with ease. My mini is a 2009 and here is a 2010. Thanks!
