Drivetrain The Official ALTA AccessPORT Thread
Believe me, this thing screams with what it has now and im pretty sure you will be 100% happy with around 220 HP. I run 215 Yoko S. drives and have a hard time getting all the power to the ground in 1st and 2nd.
It's a good thing I just got 215 Yoko's myself then
If your not driving like a nut hows the mileage with all of those mod's treating you? The bigger tires have knocked me down to about 25-30 mpg from 28-33 mpg, At least I think thats what's doing it... Idk maybe I need to get an alignment after all. I've only driven on them for about 800 miles (~2 weeks) I got one not too long before getting the new tires

not bad, Thats what I'm doing now just about. As long as I'm not losing anything its all good.
Also ALTA what has been going on with the PnP, Have you been able to make a two stage map where the "POWER MODE" is engaged when you turn the sport button and normal Cooper S power (or Economy mode) when it's off? That is a feature I really REALLY want.

Peter,
That is something that we can do. It would just require more programming. If that is something that you really would like, send us a PM or call! Also answer the poll in the "what would you like the sport button to do?" thread!
I believe that I did answer the poll about that. I will definitely be getting a hold of you guys in the new year for an AccessPort.
Upgrade from stage 1 to stage 3
Just before Thanksgiving I installed Alta's dual cat downpipe to make a full turboback exhaust and upgraded from the stage 1+FMIC map to the stage 3 map. The difference is very noticeable. Overall the stage 3 tune is even smoother with the added low end torque. With the standard stage 3 tune I had some instances where the boost would peak over 22 psi then drop to about 4psi and not go any higher until I let off the gas for a second. Jeff thinks it may be due to airflow differences from my DDM works race intake which has a ram air design. After a trying a few customized stage 3 tunes from Jeff we found one that eliminated the boost cutout. It peaks at about 21psi and sustains right about 20psi. That's about 5-6psi higher than the stage 1 tune. Anyone else see this kind of boost cutout around 22psi? Would I be better off with a different intake?
Is water/methanol injection needed for tuning to boost levels higher than I'm seeing now?

Can the access port display knock retard?
if the car is pulling timing, then the answer is yes, if the answer is no, then u don't...
(also depends what kind of pump gas u use)
I asked in another post but it was never replied to by Alta so I figured I would ask here. Does Alta ever plan on doing a group buy or giving a discount on the AccessPort similar to the price of $795.00 that the device cost when it first came out?

you are reading the same forum we are =) If someone had a major issue i'm sure they would have posted it in this thread. The worst thing I've seen so far is that it didn't recognize someones ECU and they couldn't get it to load.

As soon as we can get our hands on one, we will try it! We haven't even seen those ECUs yet, so we're not sure how much different it's going to be from the S.
Has anyone ha any issues with the keyless entry after marrying the accessport to the car? I didn't even load a tune on because I couldn't find a 93 octane stage 3, but after about 10 mins my keyless entry won't open the door. I have to use the key.
battery dead?
Interesting connection or coincident?
.Stephen
My car starts up fine... Is it possible for my keyless entry to not work due to a battery problem if my car starts? I'm not sure how the wireing works. Actually now that I think about it I was sitting in my car last night with one of the reading lights on for about 5 mins, then it shut off. I had to press the start button on the car to get it back on (even tho the car was already in on mode)
Edits: just to clarify when I say I need to use the key to open the door, I mean the button on the key. And when I said the light shut off, the engine was not on, the car was in the on position.

no. the AP did not affect my comfort access. If you did not load a tune the AP did not change anything on your ECU.
Try starting your engine with the key in the slot - if it'a a prgramming issue with the key this should reset it.
otherwise, change the battery in the key. it's a big button cell that you can buy just about anywhere.
