So, has anyone actually seen any warranty implications from tunes returned to stock before service? It is well documented that we all understand that the logs will show the work the car has beendoing, even if returned to stock later. We all know there's a risk of issues, but i haven't ever read anyone actually having one. I know the AP is relatively new, but has it ever been a problem with any of the mapping tools? Seems like an overstated concern...

It's only a concern if whoever tunes your car doesn't know how to tune an engine correctly, and in stages... or if you're just one of those people who is so paranoid about warranties. ALTA's CAN tunes are, and should be conservative enough for every car used.

My dealer has always worked with me with the mods I have installed. They like to go fast too. They are fair when it comes to something on my car that needs serviced because of premature wear because of a mod, or legit issue's with the car.

I've brought my car in many times for warranty work (with tune)...never a problem. They know it has a tune also.

It all depends on your dealer and your relationship with them. Also dependent on what sort of issue you are bringing it in for.

There is a member on here who even had a blown motor (broken piston), which may or may not have been result of the tune (dont worry it wasnt RMW or Alta...but a tuner who is no longer a vendor on here...). His dealer replaced the motor under warranty, no questions asked.

Hey Guys,

Touching on the trips to the dealer concern. Confirmation has been made that the dealer is unable to see the AP if it has been unmarried. Independent tests have confirmed that, even when the tech has been told to try.

Hope that helps! Thank you all for the business and support this past weekend too!

Keep the questions and feedback rolling!

I know my dealer checks NAM and MA so they do have a clue what's happening in the community. Mine doesn't seem to care so much unless you have a catastrophic failure.

Ordered mine today from Jeff, really helped to talk to him and understand the little quirk with the Automatics. Can't wait to get it and start testing it out

I'm still waiting on the mac version that supports my ECU version.

I hope I hear from the guys today. I sent them an ECU dump, I hope that gave them what they need. Can't wait for some 91 oct manual action.

perhaps your MA suggested it unofficially. I doubt a dealership is going to start whole heartedly recommending this over JCW.

yes, dont confuse a personal suggestion with an official approval. If you have an issue and it can be traced to a aftermarket source they will try and get out of the warranty. Just be smart

The AP wakes up the MINI!

Tonight I finally tried to get the beta firmware again with the mac version of the AP software. I've emailed Jeff a few times, but I'm guessing he was busy because he didn't respond. Anyhow he said earlier that the software was going to be fixed by Tuesday so I tried again, and the AP updated successfully. I was super stoked to see that this finally worked!!

I quickly ran out to the car, and re-mapped the ECU with the 91 oct manual map.

All I have to say is WOW. What a difference. The butt dyno definitely says the car is much faster than it was. It is especially noticeable from around 3500rpm to redline. The car just seems more alive than it did before. Unfortunately since I don't have a personal dyno I can't give hard numbers on before/after horsepower. I did however monitor the boost using the monitoring feature and it seems I'm maxing out at about 15.55 PSI on the one test I was able to do. That seems to be pretty good considering another guy saying that his max boost with the JCW engine kit was a lot lower.

I'd like to dyno the car at some point to see what the data says, but for now I can say the AP is well worth the price. The only bad part is now I'm beginning to wonder how much better the car would be with a turbo back exhaust and a new intercooler

HUGE HUGE UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Starting today with the latest AccessPORT update, the Automatic car no longer throws a Check Engine Light with every flash/install of the AccessPORT!! This means all automatic customers can buy the ALTA AccessPORT and have no issues with the transmission codes or other engine related ones that pop up after the ECU is flashed!

Our current Automatic Map library consists of STage 1 tunes only (but these will work on Stage 2 and 3 setups). All other Staged maps are in testing and if you are willing to test them out, give us a call!

ALTA AP Library Update!!
And another new update for future AccessPORT users is all the 91, 92 and stage 1 through 3 are now on the AccessPORT when you go to install it! This means you do not need to email us to get maps!! This does mean that we need to educate our customers as to the stage that best suites there needs. If you have questions about this please call us or check up on our site!

Unrecognized ECU Update
This is still something we are always going to battle with as Mini produces hundreds of ECU models and then the revisions to them are always changing. This means that from time to time you may experience the message "Unrecognized ECU" during installation. As long as the ECU type is not something new or weird, we can get you added in about 24 hours. We are making this part of the installation much clearer now so customers know how to deal with this better. We have a place on our site that explains this but we have had a few customers miss this potential issue.

Thanks for the huge support and all the new customers! We can't wait to be able to start shipping these to auto guys!

Euro ECU Support Update
I hate to say there is no new updates here. We have gotten some good info from some Euro cars, but its still a ways off from being something we can sell to anyone in Europe.

Alta,

Is this ready to download now? I downloaded the latest version from your site however I am only seeing the original 91oct test file I had from a while ago. I do have beta updates turned on. Im not sure if that makes a difference or not.

If you already installed the AP to your car, you need to uninstall it, then update, then install it. Part of the installation process looks at your ECU type and then deletes the other 100 maps that do not work for your car. Then it will display the ones that will work.

Jeff/Adam,

When will your website be updated to include the available ALTA Custom Maps, similar to what COBB does?

Also I'd like to see some official Stage 1 dynos on the 91 octane map

I want to know how much HP / TQ I have so I can answer people's questions better.
