Drivetrain The Official ALTA AccessPORT Thread
I understand the AP, and I understand the octane ratings, but I wanted to hear what Alta had to say since it's their maps. That's the whole point of the forum, to ask questions and get answers, otherwise I woulda just emailed Alta directly. There are plenty of people who bought the AP who might have this question in the future.

Access to revised Maps
I wonder if it would be appropriate/legal/moral to create an archive of the revised maps. Perhaps there is a legal issue since I don't not know if Alta continues to own the maps, but once the stop support of the AP, this issue may change. I'm not technologically sophisticated enough to set up such a site, but I would guess it would not be hard.
The site could characterize the maps by:
ECU
Transmission Type
Rev Number
Octane
Issue Addressed (Idle Bounce, Throttle Surge, etc.)
Comments (Fixed problem, reduced problem, Fixed problem but created another problem, etc)
This could reduce the number of requests to Chris and Jeff, since the maps are publicly available.
Thoughts and comments?

I got the updated map from Chris, but it won't let me flash the tune as it says it's still connected to another car. When I load the map onto the AP it said " This map doesn't match the vehicle the AccessPORT is installed to". I guess i'll have to wait until Monday to see if he can straight things out.

Two customers... The PB works pretty good, it's enjoyable and the car runs good. But like Chris said, there are a couple problems, all be it minor, that need some tweaking. I ran it for a couple weeks, and liked it, and good look past the problems, but they exist none the less.
I was driving today with the normal maps, beta updates off, and my idle seemed to be better. Still shift issues though, seems as if it goes into the shift, the acceleration stops while the rpms rise, and then it kicks back in. I have a datalog of it, and the rpms only drop about 100 between shifts. Most of the other things seem pretty similar between gears, so not sure what exactly is happening
24 psi, that's what my AP showed.
Wow! Thanks for the insight. I did a dyno run last week in stage 1 92 oct. FMIC and was hitting 22 PSI as well.
I'm just looking to make sure I'm hitting fairly normal boost levels with the mentioned mods when I get this downpipe in and I wasn't sure what a safe or normal range is for stage 2 and above.
Anyone else with any info please chime in. Thanks again.

Chris sent me the correct map this morning, I've already loaded it onto the AP while at work, joys of being an IT guy for a school. Once school is over i'm going to load the map in the parking lot and test it on the drive home.
Speaking of which, Chris, if you read this, I'd like to know if I'll be able to take advantage of the Stage 2 and Stage 3 maps if I have the Akrapovic 100c downpipe and a Borla 2.5 exhaust (even if the 3" is the recommended).
I'm running a FMIC and DOS intake at the moment.
I'll also be installing a water/meth kit at some point soon, will this perhaps negate the 3" exhaust requirement to take advantage of the maps?
Thanks!
The updated map fixed my bounce idle, it's also has smooth shifting out a bit as well. The car fells more stockish but with the extra power now. It felt faster with the other map but i'm still testing this new one. The old map felt like a beast trying to break out at any second and the second map has a pad lock on the door.
Semi Off Topic

Wow, quite interesting. I wonder if this will be another magic box that lists for $800.
Maybe we should dump the AP's now before they become relics. Mine has never worked right for my car but it does provide lots more power and I would hate to give that up too soon.

In my guesstimate, I would say it'll be safe to say anywhere from $800-900 at least for it. I wouldn't pay probably any higher than that. But regardless, I'm sure it might be very good, at least I am hoping it will
$900 would make it more expensive than literally any Cobb accessport, including accessory for the Nissan GTR.
I hope the price is appropriate for people who are buying $20k to $35k cars.
The price of the accesport was almost as expensive as an apr tune for a 997 Porsche. Mini enthusiasts pay high prices because we don't have any other options. Hopefully this new tuner can provide a quality product at a reasonable price point.
