I have actually seen a few new APs for sale here and there on the internet. I was able to get mine used ($700+shipping), but I had the links saved just in case!

I just installed my, stage 1, stock throttle, and love it! Great boost in torque, enough so that it makes some S-curves go from 'fun' to 'dangerous' in a hurry...

Personally, I greatly prefer the stock throttle maps to the TPS ones. The linear throttle made me feel like I was driving my e46 again... which was nice, but didn't have the flighty 'mini' feel to it!

So you don't experience the rev jumping phenomenon under fast acceleration shifting? Just curious because you have the same car and Stage I use though mine has the JCW mod.

Do you mean the rev jump when the clutch is depressed (between gears)? I've heard of that... I actually thought it was the TPS map though. But no, I haven't noticed anything irregular. I feel like the idle is smoother all the time, and that the power is there even at 2500rpm in most gears (seems like it may be running richer). I love it!

Yes, it is much more pronounced with TPS but still happens on high acceleration. Jeff thought it had to do with the map expecting more boost than the car can give. No map to fix it yet. Guess you're one of the lucky dudes.

Well we will see... I'll certainly be sensitive to such a thing! Did you have to datalog and forward the info? If so, for how long?

I sent him logs after he had me try a couple of maps that failed miserably. Haven't heard back yet. Been at it for a few weeks now. I thought about selling the AP, but it does give a nice power boost, though a bit erratic at times. I was going to see how the FMIC map does after I install a new I/C.

The AP was the same for both the MCS and JCW.

What is the issue here? Can someone from ALTA chime in please?

I can confirm after a week of "testing"

Stage 1 FMIC 92 octane nontps - NO FAN
Stage 1 FMIC 91 octane nontps - FAN

Same commute each time, same temperature give or take 10 degrees.

What is the deal here? Id like to kind of get this sorted out before support for this item disappears.

I'll actually need to know the ECU type, sorry. To get it, go to "tune," "show current map", in there it will say the ECU type. It should be something like H910B, thanks!

It will come preloaded for your car with stage 1,2, and 3 maps. If he loads maps they probably won't pull up for your VIN/ECU.

I believe they do. If you go to Cobbs website they have a list of tuners and what cars they do just to make sure.

My ECU is also the H910B.

I normally run Stage 1 FMIC 92 octane tps, and I will get fan or no fan depending on temp outside and how hard I drove it and temp outside.

I ran the Stage 1 FMIC 92 octane nontps before for a bit too, and I'm pretty sure that the fan has come on with that map too.

But that 10deg might make a difference too cause I had the fan come on one of the days recently where it was 40+deg after a hard drive. And I drove hard yesterday and it the car showed 29deg outside and I had no fan.

I don't think I remember the fan going much if at all during this winter, but it comes on pretty much every single time in the summer.

I don't think the ECU number matters much. I haven't seen my fan turn on yet and I'm running Stage 1 91 Oct non-TPS. I just ran the car for 2 hrs at 92 mph average on hwy at 56F ambient and when I shut it off - no fan.

One thing to keep in mind is that even driving for 2 hours, the car is still cooling itself while driving.
When I mentioned I getting the fan to run after that hard drive, I might have only been going 30-60 but I was flooring it every chance I got to have fun and boosted alot. Boosting alot will definitely raise engine temps vs driving at consistent speeds off boost.

I had this issue last summer when I first got the AP. I'd drive my normal route with stock map and I'd get fan nearly every time if shut the car off. After installing the ap no fan. This was one 80+ dg days. Needless to say it alarmed me. The answer I got was their maps don't alter settings that would effect the fan, etc. others chimed in with similar situations and a discussion came about on the subject somewhere deep in this thread. I don't know if there ever was an reason found for this happening.

I've been running the AP ever since and the car is fine. Fan seems to run like before or perhaps I'm just used to it not running as much.

I should add that at no time did the coolant or oil temp rise above normal operating temp while the car was running (using the AP's monitoring function) though I never checked how it was behaving after shutting the car off.

About the fan, I emailed COBB about it to see if there's anything that can be done for it. The ALTA tune isn't programmed to affect the fan switching, but maybe it's affecting it somehow.

For the maps, they're all available by doing an update using the AP Manager. For the mods that you listed, you should be running a stage 1 FMIC map.
