Drivetrain The Official ALTA AccessPORT Thread
Thanks, i appreciate the help but I already tried that. Anyone know what the latest beta version number is or non-beta version?
This may be a reach, but is one corner pin supposed to be missing on the AP OBD connector? I could have sworn it had all pins before I sent it into COBB, though it probably wouldn't work at all with a missing pin. Can anyone check this? Thanks!

Will we have to do anything different to get the new ECUs added or will doing AP Manager updates work like they do now?
Just got my used AP last night and added the 92 stage 1 map, haven't had a chance to really test it yet, hopefully this weekend or one night I'll have a chance to get on some better roads. So far so good though, I'm loving the little extra power that I've been able to get too.
My question is this since the AP for MINI's is essentially dead will there be any kind of further development or will this be up to tuners? Having an 08 I'm not worried about the ECU compatibility but was more curious about modified tunes. I know earlier in this thread there were suggestions about the different things that could be done with the sport button for instance. Are there other modifications that can be done as well or is just a matter of tweaking the fuel map for different mods at this point?
Sorry if I'm opening wounds or asking redundant questions.

I'm not so sure it's a matter of authorizing tuners as it is convincing tuner shops that its economically viable to spend that much money on the access tuner pro software needed to tune for the AP. it's not cheap and having enough MINIs around that use the AP to make it worth the investment is probably low.
- No longer selling the AP for the Mini
- Discontinued support by the end of the year
- Only 9 "official" Mini tuners across the country
- Wont release software to allow non-offical tuners to tune the car
Any normal Joe can go to your site, download ATR for his Subaru, pop his motor, and thats OK. But, you cant do that with your Mini?
Maybe Ill drop the coin and call up Evolve in England.
If they would kindly release ATR, then I could drive 15 minutes up the road to Top Speed, who is well versed in tuning many cars, and get a custom tune that will be supported as long as they are in business. But I can't.
Because they think we will blow our motors. But, they release the same software to the Subaru community. I had a copy when I owned my Legacy.
Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a map for just a CAI, however if you were to upgrade, for instance, to an aftermarket intercooler, you can plug in the Accessport and choose the change map option.
The best way to get new maps is to send a note to Alta (or Chris on this forum). Chances are that you will not need a new map for a CAI, just keep running your stage 1 map.

I just got my AP running, using Stage 1 91 octane TPS map and see this exact same effect. Accelerating under load, push in the clutch and the revs spike before dropping. Has anyone ever figured this one out? Is it only on the 07 MCS?
I have sent some info to Jeff at Alta, but have yet to get anything back. Really not holding my breath at this point.
But add an FMIC and then you can change to the Stage1 w/ FMIC map, cause then you can have more aggressive settings due to the lower cooler air.
Apparently this only happens using the TPS map.
I tried to contact Chris a long time back about this rpm spike, I have had it happen where it took SEVERAL seconds, ie, 4-8 seconds where the car remained at high revs, 4000+ before it returned to idle. This was really potentially dangerous when coming to a stop. It only happened in first gear. He asked me to send him a datalog, but I was never able to reproduce this with the AP connected. It was incredibly unnerving!
I just have the spike during shifts. I *think* its related to the throttle closing too slowly.
If I lift, wait a good half count, then clutch and shift, it doesnt really happen. But, I shouldnt be needing to do that.

N14 engines had a problem with moisture from the primary PVC line causing ice to form in the throttle body, it's one of the reasons they changed the head, adding internal ports in the later engine heads to replace the external PVC line.
Could the throttle spike be caused by an iced up throttle body? The formation of ice in the throttle body is dependent on many things, air temperature, humidity, air flow, engine load, etc. It might explain the randomness of the problem.

I kinda like the TPS map for the smooth take off, but don't understand those spikes. I'm sticking to non-TPS for now.
