Drivetrain The Official ALTA AccessPORT Thread
nothing is working. i followed the instructions. what is the point of them making it for mac os is it doesnt ****ing work. 3000 brand new mac and now i gotta use windows ? wtf. i have no windows comp that i can download **** on. this is so ****ing annoying
That's one of the joys of having a Mac...not everything is designed around Mac OS. Run Windows through Bootcamp for situations like this.
FWIW, when I had my AP it worked fine on my Mac.
I understand your reservations. I had them too but you'll be happy you went for it I assure you. I just installed an FMIC and deleted the turbo muffler so I'm installing the stage 1 FMIC 92+ octane map tonight! Yeehaa! Climbing the map ladder on mod at a time!
What version of OSX are you running?
I would bet that you can use an eval version of windows 7 instead of having to buy a copy.
Did you drag the AP manager into the application folder then launch it from the App folder.
I had a issue the first time because I just clicked the AP manager and tried to launch it from the mounted disk image.

This is what I'm thinking as well. Alot of folks who are more familiar with Windows do this but with OSX you need to do things a bit differently.
Look in your downloads and you should see 'APmanager.DMG. open it. when you do this window should pop up on your desktop

Take the file on the left and drag and drop it into the application folder right next to it. That should be all you have to do. Once thats donw do like NY_R56 said and then go find it in your application folder and open it from there.
OSX 10.6.8 is snow leopard. I can't recall if that's what I had when I got my AP. If not then it was Lion. I've since upgraded to Mountain Lion and the AP manager has worked fine on all.

Sorry I'm not much help so far. I'm running version 2.0.2.3 of the AP manager. Hit up Alta chris and see if he can send you the latest version. I'm guessing the version on the alta site is the original since I think you said it downloaded as version 1. If he can't get it to you I can try this evening when I get home.

Windows 8 Driver
The old driver will not load in Windows 8. Does anyone know if a new one is available or a work around? Specific error is:
AccessPORT 2.0B W
The hash for the file is not present in the specified catalog file. The file is likely corrupt or the victim of tampering.

Hi guys, I recommend for both of you to contact COBB directly. They are the ones that make the software, and you can talk to the guys that actually make it by giving them a call: 866.922.3059
Well I called them and they said they do not have an update for windows 8 yet and no timetable and no advice on a work around. They said to keep monitoring their web site for an update as it should be announced there when available. So none of that is a real good answer. Fortunately I have another computer with Win 7 I can use.
Does anyone here know if the ECU's MINI uses are JCW and MCS specific units or do both models use the same ECU? I have an issue where I think I received the wrong map for my car and it made me wonder how the ECU type (ie. H901B for instance) figures in these cars.

Guys I have a problem not sure if it's the Alta Accesport.
I installed on monday in my JCW 11 the Alta CAI, Alta exhaust, Alta FMIC, Alta spring upgrade and everything was fine. Yesterday installed the Accesport in stage 1 FMIC and did one hour driving, normal driving in the city, probably 30-40km/h and just two hard acelerations to feel the accesport. When I was near my home the temperature light came up, when I was parking the car in my house it turned red, well shut down the car and the fan came up at very high speed. Look's like the termostat is not working, because the reservoir was cold. Do you guys think it could be a bad flash? O just bad luck and need to remplace the termostat?
I'll unistall the accesport and drive some miles to check if it's working again.
