Drivetrain The Official ALTA AccessPORT Thread
hey chris just wanted to let you know I got my AP installed and holy crap what a difference! I bought one for my old wrx and it was nothing compared to this now. Hopefully this holds me over long enough to save for a fmic and a catless downpipe lol
It'll roughly be another 5-10 WHP and 5-10 FT LBS over the normal stage 1 map, and more consistent power, which is really important when you're on the gas a lot, or if it's warm out!
I sent an email to maps@altaperformance.com and never heard back, so I'm posting here.
I had some work done on my mini after hitting the curb, and the dealer swapped the ECU. I had done an uninstall of the access port prior, but now I get the "New Rom Detected" and the device won't apply a map/install.
What is the best way to get this resolved?

Does anyone know if the Pulley (discontinued) is integrated in any of the tunes?
My AP is sitting in its box. Car isn't ready yet so I haven't played with it yet. I want to drive the car with its bolt-ons first, make sure it runs healthy. Then tune that 6!tc4.

No news, sorry!
Sorry I didn't get back to you, I didn't see an email from you, maybe it got lost somehow. First try doing an update using the AP Manager, if that doesn't work, do a beta update under the options menu. If that doesn't work, I'll need a copy of the ECU to make it work.
A crank pulley doesn't have to be built into the maps, so you will be OK either way. Thanks!

Just installed the AP into my 2011 JCW clubman... WOW! What a difference. I'm running stage 1 92.
The A/C shifts from blowing forward to only the feet when I let off the gas and the engine surges at idle (around 300 RPM). Is this normal?

AK, sometimes customers see some idle fluctuation, we can fix that with a new map. I'm just going to need to get your ECU type and map being used and we can email you a new map. You can email me a maps@altaperformance.com thanks!
If you're buying new, it doesn't really matter where you purchase it. If you are thinking of buying it used, I would only buy it locally, or from someone I know. The last owner could sell it to you when it's installed on their car, making it useless to you, since the AP can only be programmed on one car at a time.
Does the AP have a built in dyno function like the ones Cobb has for Subies? I see 0-60 and 1/4 mile but that's it. Also could someone expound on the launch control function who's used it. Is it a true launch control that holds boost and at what RPMs does it kick in? Thanks.
The AccessPORT doesn't have the ability to estimate hp, sorry! We weren't able to get it to work with the wheelspin from FWD.
Launch control basically just holds RPMs to 4,500. It doesn't hold boost.

UPDATE : I got my AP this evening, and just finished installing the Stage 1 - 92+ Octane linear map. Took it for a quick run down the highway and holy crap what a difference! I'm happy as hell that I bought this. I had a quick question, if anyone can chime in, now that I have Stage 1 installed, what are the differences between hitting the Sport button vs driving in regular mode? I remember reading it on 1 of these 100+ pages last week, but it's slipping my mind now. Any help is appreciated.
Cool thanks Chris - have you guys noticed any differences in the pop/burble after installing the tune? I've read random things here and there, but does the tune make that disappear? Or does it depend on whether you're using the stock throttle or linear throttle map?
I still have the same pop and burble no matter what map I'm running and it doesn't matter if I'm using sport mode or not. It may have decreased slightly but if so it's not enough for me to notice. Some people have said they lost P&B upon installing the AP. Not so in my case.
As for the 'sport' button.... If you're using the 92+ octane 'linear throttle' map the only thing the sport button does is tighten up the steering as Chris said. There is no change in throttle. If your using the 92+ octane 'stock throttle' map the sport button will act the same as before you installed the AP except (since you're now using a tune) it will make the throttle even more touchy than before, as in SUPER sensitive. Be careful using it for the first time in heavy traffic or you might find that you've climbed over the car in front of you before you let your foot off the gas, lol!

Hey guys this may be a dumb question, but do I still have to follow the original instructions when plugging the AP into the car? Like if I want to change the map back to stock or if I just want it plugged in to test performance etc.
