The modifications you mentioned would be fine to run a stage 3 map!

The list of parts needed for different stage maps can also be found on the AccessPORT page under the stages tab.

Ok so let me get this straight from the searching I have done.

In order to run stage 2, I need:

FMIC
Catless DP
2.5" exhaust

What do I need for stage 3?

Also we only have 91 octane in this state.

Yeah I was looking at that but it isn't very clear. Plus stage 3 on the JCW says you did it with a 3" turbo back. So 2.5" is ok?

2.5 is OK if it's catless.

BTW, why would you run stage 2 if you can run stage 3 with the same mods?

Yep those exhaust components will be fine to run stage 2 on until you get the FMIC.

Stage 2 : turbo back exhaust, OR DP catless and 2.5 exhaust (in your case and mine) or full on 3" Alta exhaust.

Stage 3: same as above + FMIC

Update: April 2012

The ALTA AccessPORT does NOT work with 2011+ Cooper S Models.

The ALTA AccessPORT does work with 2007-2010 Copper S Models (Hardtop, Convertible, Clubman)

The ALTA AccessPORT does work with 2009-2012 JCW Models (Hardtop, Convertible,
Clubman, Coupe, Roadster)
????? Chris, can you tell me why can it work on a 2011 JCW, and not on a 2011"S" ? Also whats required for stage 2 on a JCW? I have a Alta CAI, hot tubes, Intercooler, blow off spring upgrade, but stock JCW exhaust. Thank You

2011 JCW models still use the N14 engine. 2011+ Cooper S models use the newer N18 engine.

Terminal is right. The JCW is using the same engine and ECU dating back to 2008. The MCS engine and ECU was changed in 2011, making the tuning totally different.

How does the tune affect the codes thrown for the O2 sensors with a catless system? Here in Texas, any OBD (Not ready) or code for emissions causes the annual inspection to fail.

AccessPORT 2012

Will Alta be coming out with an AccessPORT compatible with 2012 Mini Cooper S?

The AccessPORT does turn the CELs into the "not ready" mode. Normally you are allowed at least 1 or 2 "not ready" CELs. We haven't had any issues with this yet, if you want, we can make a map that turns them back on.

We don't have an ETA for that, sorry!

KJ-

Read back a few posts, Chris covers what's needed for Stage 2. As far as the maps go, the AP comes pre loaded with various Stage 1,2 and 3 maps. You select/run which ones are applicable to your mods/Mini. Also, the Alta site covers the AP very well...everything from the Stages/maps, dynos, etc., as well as a video on how to install. Hope this helps.

When I ordered my AP from the website, I ordered from the JCW Coupe page, but the order showed the AP setup for an MCS on the checkout page.
I emailed them to say that I did in fact have a JCW. Chris called to confirm.
Apparently, the AP comes with maps for the MCS or the JCW, but not both.
Chris made sure that I had the proper maps.

Just an FYI.

After playing with the Stage 1 JCW maps, I think I have figured out what I would love to see.

I LOVE the linear map. I tried both the stock and the linear throttle Stage 1 92 octane maps.

What I find is that the stock throttle is far too touchy, just like the stock JCW is, to me. You touch the throttle and it has too much power too early on. It's hard to take off on an incline, for instance.
The linear throttle makes take off a breeze! It's very easy to take off smoothly. It's also nice that you get power as you push the throttle down, as it should be, again, to me.
What I would love to see is a close to stock power with the linear throttle in non-sport mode, then when you push the sport button, all heck breaks loose! Like the current linear throttle is all the time.

Just my wishes!
Kent

I bought mine used from a guy with a MCS. As soon as I hooked it up it started to show the JCW maps. Maybe he just wanted to confirm it was a JCW since the Accessport does not work with the 2012 MCS.

In 2008, Texas changed the rules to where there is only one 'not ready' CEL allowed. The old rules allowed up to two 'not ready' CELs.

It is awesome to think we can go catless, "Legally"!

The JCW exhaust will not be enough, you need an upgraded turbo back exhaust that replaces the cats in the factory downpipe. A 2.5" catless system or 3" with high flow cats will be good for stage 2.

With your setup, you would run stage 1 FMIC.

The AP comes preloaded with maps for the JCW and MCS. I just call to make sure you have a car that the AP is compatible with and let you know all the details of the maps.

You would see that if we made a custom map for a customer and he loaded it using the AP Manager. It's greyed out because it's not compatible with your MCS, but it shows up because the AP knows it's not a standard preloaded map.

This doesn't make much sense...

Running stage 3 at 100*F Ambient temperature would be the same as running Stage 2 in 60*F Ambient temperature...

All FMIC does is keep your intake temps down. Your ECU will adjust for IAT's...
