I just got my catless downpipe on. I plan on sending Jeff my data logs tonight and hopefully a new map in a day or two.

I was trying to datalog a 0-60 run with the AP yesterday. Had a great tire squealing launch and as I slammed the shifter from 1st to second the shift **** pulled off and was just hanging on by the boot. I guess I'll have to upgrade to a more secure **** like the Whalen because with the AP tune I can't stop driving like I'm in a grand prix.

BTW, are you using 91 oct. on your tune? I haven't been keeping up with the thread and last I read there wasn't a CA 91 oct. map out yet.

I've been running the preliminary 91 octane tune for a few weeks and sending logs to Jeff at Alta. He mentioned in an email today the the final versions are nearly ready. Prior to getting the 91 octane map I ran the 92+ octane map with a bottle of STP octane booster added to the gas. That ran great also.

Adam,

Do you have an updated Stage 1 map for an R56 with a ALTA intercooler? I also have a JCW intake and cat-back which may not be considered in an updated map. PM me if you need more info.

Thanks

Everyday with feedback from clients and ALTA Approved AccessPORT Pro-Tuners updates are being made to maps.

Certainly we have a map to match that! When you order an ALTA Mapping Specialist will contact you to be sure you get the best / most from your purchase!

Thanks again to the NAM community for the overwhelming support on this product!

I can't wait for the dyno graphs on the 91 oct map. I have my money ready

:-)

I've been wondering for a long time why no one made one of these for the R56.

Awesome. I can't wait until the CA 91 octane map is released!

I want to get this but I am literally COMPLETELY useless when it comes to maps and tunes and all of this. I have an M7 intake and thats it. Do I have to adjust each individual setting such as throttle, boost, etc... Or can I just plug it in and get more power without having to do anything else. I want to tune it in the simplest way possible. Also how do I know which map to select or whatever with this intake. If it is that easy, then I'll get this bad boy asap.

even your question is more complicated than the install is. Tell Alta you have the m7 intake and they'll send you the correct tune. Very easy to hook up and load the program.

Adam,

I already have the access port installed with the canned stage 1 map. What do i need to do to get the custom map for an Alta intercooler

This thread is quite long to read entirely. What's the general consensus on this thing so far? If this was bought for a pretty much stock MCS how big of an improvement would one see? Is it worth 900 bucks, basically?

Or do I have to read the whole thread?

Well the best way to determine that is read the thread, but in general it has been received very well
As far as what it will do for you, you could start here:

Many people on this forum dont mind spending $300-$400 for a CAI or $600 for a cat back. Neither one of those will give you the performance of the AP and to get more HP out of your mods you will need some sort of tuner. The AccessPort has been around for a long time and has a terrific reputation. I had a 1st gen one on my WRX and I was very pleased with it. This is just the beginning of the AP for the Mini. I will just get better with time and more feedback from current owners.

I do recommend reading the whole thread but to sum it up - "hell yea!"

No matter what level of mods you have from stock to rad, this thing will blow your mind. Easily worth the $900. There is nothing else that will come anywhere close in the TQ/$$ ratio.

I'm still waiting to hear if ALTA can use this ability to make the MINI two completely different monsters in one car.
Personally what I would want is a two stage tune in the car at the same time.

1) When Sport mode is NOT Engaged it de-tunes the cars output to boost gas mileage higher than it already is, I have a 08 MCSa and while taking it easy on the highway I have been able to get it up to about 40 Mpg but if we could get a consistent 50+ Mpg that would be awesome!

and then

2) When Sport mode Is Engaged that it boosts the cars output to the ALTA tune levels of Hp we would be getting anyways.

Personally this is what I always believe the Sport button should have always done but mini though other wise.

If ALTA could do that I would buy one almost immediately.

Break out your credit card NOW. Alta has always been able to do this with the AP. Doubtful you'll get 50mpg, but they can improve it.
