The airbox really doesn't make much difference and you can find a lot nicer cat-backs or full exhaust systems for less money. Jan's tune is off the chart compared w/ the JCW stage 1 tune (or even the stage 2 cars)...

Buy a better intercooler, an exhaust that suits you, and Jan's tune, you'll be very happy
Thanks!

I need to find out where to get an intercooler, though. Living in Mexico means I can't get most of the great stuff you guys have, unless I go to the US and get it there. Any recommendations?

Can't one of us fellow members buy one and ship it to you?

If it helps, I'll be more than happy to help you.

Let me know.

Not a problem, just trying to help a fellow member.

As far as what intercooler to buy, my suggestioin is to stick with either the Forge or Helix intercoolers.

I think I even saw one for sale on the for sale forum. If you decide to buy one from Helix, do a search, they usually have a group buy on them.

HTH's,

Mark

Mark, thanks again. I'll try to see if my sister can get the intercooler for me, but if she can't, I'll keep in mind your offer!

I just looked at your tune numbers, they are pretty amazing. Does that mean your car is doing 250 HP at the crank?

As all the Evo & STI guys use it and they pay like $150 for a cable and the software is open source. Still I dont mind paying more to be able to do the same thing on the Mini, as if I can save maps, and adjust maps, all on my labtop then Im stoked.

Thanks Jan, good chat. Have a good vacation.

As for dyno sheets, they are all over NAM. Contact the Seattle folks, I know they have some good results on 3 R56s.

Check the old Kentucky tune thread, some results posted there, too.

Id like to know what PSI Jan is pushing for those results as anything over 17-18Psi on the R56 Turbo is too much. We in the UK have been tuing these since almost the begining and anything over 17-18Psi has been catastrophic on the turbo causing premature failures and lots going bang. Any good tuner over here will tell you not too exceed 17-18Psi so be careful cause those figures seem likke its pushing more along the 20-21Psi mark.

So it's the turbo that's failing and not the engine right? This makes me curious as to how much pressure/temperture the combustion chamber of the Prince engine can handle...
