How-to for injectors?
I know this is pretty EZ... but didn't know if anyone had written up an injector install how-to...searched and didn't find one... the JCW upgrade how-to at Outmotoring and Motoringfile actually refers to another BMW doc instead of including the procedure. I have the Bentley manual, but it's not awesome in this area... can anyone point me to a DIY?
I can't point you to a do it yourself unfortunately. I did however learn a few helpful tips when removing mine.
#1- WD40! Spray it on your stock injectors so they come out of your manifold with ease
#2- If you have access to an air compressor blow out all of the dirt and debris around your injectors and surrounding area. You don't want any small rocks falling into your intake manifold when you pull your injectors out.
#3- I did lube the O-rings on the new injectors with a small amount of rubber friendly lube (Forgot the name) before installing.
Other than that its a pretty straight forward project.
Intercooler off
undo two bolts holding the fuel rail on
unplug injectors
disengage fuel line
disengage vaccuum line under fuel rail
Blow out debris with air
WD40 the injectors where they meet the manifold
Gently pull the fuel rail and all the injectors out
Hopefully I didn't forget some pertinent detail

There is a release valve on the end of the rail. press it in to bleed off the fuel pressure before you disconnect the line. I also put a rag up to it so I didn't get fuel everywhere.

Thanks for the pointer to Dr. O's writeup!
Wellllll..... from everything I've read and been told... if all you have is a 15% pulley (no oversized crank pulley, no head, etc) then the stock injectors are *OK*... but 380's give you more headroom and are especially important if you raise the redline, where without them you may run out of injector capacity and go lean... and are recommended if you're gonna track the car (which I know you do)... because that can push the limits of the stock injectors' duty cycle...
I talked with another MCS automatic owner with 15% who had a Jan-tune and the injectors were a good addition for him...

if i need to i'll go bigger but......... i had my unichip tuned by DDM he said my stock injectors were fine. i've got a ported head, cam, pulley, header and exhaust. I'm just a little hesitant to blow that kind of money although i've blown two motors in the mean time.
well the first one was on the MINI dime. the second one, not so much. with my new (it's been more than a year) motor, cam, software, head, i'm making one less hp than before. but this motor should last longer. i was hoping all those mods would put my close to 200. not!

i was in a bind and i was way behind and i was ready to make a deal.
i got the uni-chip to keep from getting into the 15 air/fuel ratios. those are the killers. with the uni-chip i'm safely below 12.5 across the board.

I put in JCW injectors this morning--easy! Boy I really like these kinds of mods. I removed the Unishit -- and will get a JCW flash on Monday am. Ultimate is an RMW tune of course, but either he's got to get closer to me, or I have to drive 900mi x 2 to his place...
I hope it all works out, as I have this nagging feeling that there's more inside my little Mini than has ever come out!

I'm leaving my cam for the experts... Not that brave. I planned to do cam injectors and tune together but Jan didn't get more cams when expected so I'll have to add the cam later. Jan tuned my car a tad rich so all should be ok with the cam later.
