[QUOTE=Paul Webster;2334874]Rusty how are you reading your temps? is it through the obd and if so what are you using.[/QUOTE

Mostly with an OBDII Scanner (ScangaugeII). Danny has also been generous enough to allow Jan and I to use his incredibly expensive diagnostics computer (The one that does all the same things the BMW Factory Computer does).

So was that on the straight at 7k in 5th

We're usually seeing a 30c gain up the 1/4 mile and in the 60-65c on a coolish day around a road course.

Like I said, we were just making sure we were getting some readings. Very inaccurate stuff so far.

Any way you can have both probes on the outlet, I'm sure the DFIC will give different readings front and back of the outlet horn.

Will you be recording map sensor readings as well to compare ?

I am going to set the probes mid stream on the inlet and outlet
I am not recording map sensor readings

I was quite amazed what I saw with one on the dyno the other day with a temp gun. just wondered whether you would see similar reading at the outlet horn.

most of our observations on customers cars are scan guage and auto enginuty which will record every 1/10th of a sec.

but I also have a FJO / NX nitrous controller on our car which can log rpm a/f nitrous pressure fuel pressure.

Thanks, I'm always curious to see what people are running. I looked at the AE stuff, and their software may be better than what I have, but I ended up getting the Dashdyno/Auterra package so I would have a few gauges and stand-alone recording in the car. I'll end up having to drag the laptop around anyway as I have some Innovate product on the way as well as my methanol controller offers some data logging pass-through as well.

This reminds me! When we were setting up the software we had it set to log every 3 secs. Any opinion on if that should be set differently? Every 1 sec? Every 5 secs?

Assuming you have enough storage space/memory, you want to log as fast as possible(well within reason, depending upon the goals of the experiment). That being said, you can never have enough data, plus you pick up small "data hiccups" that might otherwise be hard to figure out.
What's the fastest the hardware allows? 3 seconds sounds much too slow for what you are looking at and the small anomalies you will see in the testing.

The software defaults to 3 seconds. I have a Mac and the software runs on a PC. One of my freinds has a mac and is running Parallels so he can run windows software and this program.

I'll have him look at the range today but im pretty sure it will record faster. I want to say .5 seconds. I'll let you know

Just curious, what brand/model of hardware and software do you have there?

That forge set up is crazy, it didn't come like that did it? I like how the air catch is welded around it. Pretty neat set up. With it being a one off I'm not sure that the data gathered would benefit anyone other than to quell curiosity. If your interested in how it performs compared to the others I'll certainly run it for you. I'll let you know a for sure date I can run it. That way you wouldn't be without it for too long.

Lemme know

Rob
Rob,

Which version of the GRS intercooler are you using? I don't see the GTTuning intercooler on your list???

I am only testing intercooler that I have, have access to or have been sent. I'm testing the GRS top mount air to air V1.

I have (will have) a Forge air to air top mount as well.

Another bit of good news is I purchased a scan gauge 2! I should have it here by next week so I can familiarize myself with it. Should be able to get MAP sensor readings also now

The scangauge will be helpful, but there won't really be a good way to tie the readings you are getting to the data you are collecting. Is is possible to come close, you will definitely need someone in the car writing a lot of data down and try to get some correlation between the two after the runs.
As a general toy, the scangauge is a really useful tool. You will learn many new things about how your car acts watching that gauge. You may want to make a few runs on your routes just observing the scangauge so you don't have too many surprises once testing starts.

As Howe said faster the better, can the system record rpm and boost ?

I hesitate to say this subject was broached about 10 pages back and I'm not sure if we got a definitive answer on the logging capabilities. I'll let Rob let us know.

Paul, I'm dying to get to the dragstrip, but I'm afraid I'll get one run and get sent home. Faster than 13.99 in the vert necessitates a roll cage in NHRA rules. But I'm anxious to see what the car will do.
