Drivetrain M7 vs Alta intercooler, what one and why?
What I'm looking for is a independent pump that I could switch on and off manually. Might need to do some "hardware store" modifications eh? I just thought some of the Alta parts might work like the sprayer nozzle etc.
I'm also curious to know if they sell independent pumps, hoses nozzles etc.

The washer tank is pretty small for a sprayer system. As it is I fill mine twice a month just to keep my windows clean!
Perhaps just buy a tank and pump and wire all that up. Likely to be cheaper anyway. I know some of the water meth guys have gone out and gotten big tanks for the boot, then plumbed up some hose. You could get a large tank for the rear and just do that.

The rear wiper pump just won't cut it, and the wiper reservoir is too small.
I agree with rustyboy and a stand alone system is the way to go (pump, tank etc).
I am thinking of going completely over the top and doing something along the lines below couped with the GTT sprayer (which also has an on off switch)

There is also

but don't know what the quality is like...
My TMIC v1 from Alta does not touch on any of these points and is held in place only by the silicone couplers on both end. I suppose with the stock hump-hoses it might move far enough to touch but with the silicone, it doesn't move a bit.
I had a small plastic tank and washer pump from an old toyota (dont remember which one) I crammed it in that space compartment under the window vent on the passengers side. I'll put it back in there and show some pics. I never bothered to put it back in when I switched to the DFIC. Now I need ideas for a sprayer nozzle. The last one unscrewed itself and fell out onto the road somewhere.
Not cheap but it is quality and won't fall off!
Why don't you just buy the controller that Snow performance offer for the Water/Meth kit? All you need to do is give it power and you run the other side to a pump. Hook up a boost line to it and then set when you want it to come on via the boost dial. Easy as, then you just need to find a location for the tank.
Adam,
I have a question for you. I have noticed a issue with both of your intercoolers the top mount and the flow thru. They both sit directly on top of the of the stock intercooler mount points on the intake manifold. Have you seen any failure from this? Have you had any actually wear thru? The one I had, and others I've seen actually have quite a bit of wear from engine vibration.
I am also very interested in adding a sprayer on my M7 DFIC. Does your sprayer use an existing washer pump and tank on the car? I have a convertible so I am looking for something that can be run independent of the rear wiper set up.
Thanks
Rob

IF you have a vert, then I suggest a quick trip to NAPA and buy an accessory kit to convert an old school car from manual pump type washer spray to an electric pump. Kit includes pump, washer line, basic wiring and a switch, retails for about $12.99 and then you simply tap either the Cold Weather Pak tank on the Driver Side or the Washer Tank on the Passenger side. No big deal.
Let me know if I can ever help in anyway shape or form!
Adam - my V1 TMIC install went without a hitch - plenty of clearance all around. No grinding. I did put the little clear rubber bumpers on all possible points of contact but nothing was even remotely close and the IC does not move.
PS: still waiting for Ken to call me back. I might give him a ring tomorrow afternoon when I am off work... if I can pull a less-than-12-hour day lol.

Also - for those looking to do sprayers - have you considered the selection of "Lowe's Motorsports" irrigation supplies? There are all sorts of misters and sprayers and drippers etc for low volume/indoor type irrigation systems that would be pretty good for misting the IC.... and cheap!

Learn from alot of peoples mistakes..Spend you money elsewhere..Save up for a head or something else with more bang for your buck..Check out the numbers ppl are gettin out of the Jesus head with stock intercoolers..Youll be surprised.
This thread is about intercoolers regardless.
Wow...... pretty harsh and liberal with judgements and name calling.
I don't take well to being called a nutless anything online or to my face. Might want to reconsider how you come across

I understand that there is better $ to be spent, but intercoolers are an important part of the system. This guy asked which is better M7 or Alta. There are internal and external upgrades. Intercoolers have proven to benefit engines already built to the sky. So lets focus on which one amplifies our built engines the best. Intense, how are things?
Well, last weekend I was sick as a dog and couldn't get it done. I'm shooting for this weekend however, the friend I have helping me with the computer part of things doesn't get back until friday. Things kinda depend on his availability and if we can get Nardo to walk us through a couple things on Sat.
If this weekend fails we will for sure get it done the following weekend.
Allow me to translate what might be construed as a thinly veiled advertisement.
Aftermarket I/C's have their place. As an early mod it doesn't make a lot of sense return on the dollar wise. Once other modifications to the power train have been affected and there is still room in the budget then it's time to bring in one of the aftermarket I/C's that fit your driving style and climate to help make the most of the other expenditures.

if I ever consider getting a DFIC I guess I'll read it...but I don't plan to go beyond 200whp so stock will probably be good for me...that or GP
