No I don't think you would find anything on the dyno. The exhaust shape changes with a cooler pipe. I'm not saying there's any noticeable hp change but the cooler pipe should help scavenging. In the end it's another 1 of those little bits that helps something else.

If nobody talks me out of it I may wrap the header just due to logistics.

Dammit Jan. You're not talking me into one of those fad stroker things no matter how hard you try. Well, OK, not until I break the current mill then I'll be stalking you for one.

This is why we are staying supercharged but working on other avenues as the turbo cars have not shown anything that I would want for power delivery. Look at Madness turbo car with a pro driver could only muster 1:31 on the same track that I have run 1:28 on . I seriously doubt I can drive better than a pro driver
A true old schooler. I love it.
You spent the time & effort to figure it out.

I have researched SOW quite a bit and I am having a hard time to find full blown street cars that have run faster times as us. Almost all of the cars that have run 1:28 or faster are over 400hp

I'm sure if SPF drove my car we would see times equal to those cars.... he's that good

Yup. I wish Jan was closer. He spent a lot of time developing that motor & I want 1 of everything.

BTW wrap works. I'v used it for all kinds of applications including go karting. If nothing else most engines sound as though they aren't straining at the top.

There isn't anything that will quench the RMW race exhaust at 7500. And with the sweet sound it makes, I wouldn't have it any other way. At other times...........I'd rather not attract the attention.

its amazing how good it sounds at WOT

people at the track always come up and ask what type of exhaust it is
its even better looking at the peoples faces as they hear the roar as I go by and then figure out it was a MINI

Loud around here is much too attractive. Not to worry, the wrap won't hurt the sound comming out the back of the car.

Someone out here needs 1. I need to hear 1.... In person... The Madness car is aggravating. There was a guy that raced a G prod Fiat that sounded like that.

Maybe someone should ask Phantom. He asked the question. Did he get his answer?

I think it's been answered which one you don't want on the track

Using readily available heat shield material, I saw average temperature reductions up to 80F on the manifold shield versus a stock shield for the stock header. Complete story at https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=120386.

Good idea. Great simple mod. I'll have to order some of the DEI material when I get the header wrap coming.

I remember astrochex thread. I believe the material used was 1 of the best of the materials used on other similar threads.

Here is a long 1 https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...engine+cooling

Talk about off topic......

I remember that one.

I'd like to get Gnat's car and tape the ducts closed on the hood(from the bottom of course) for a track session then open them up in the next and see what the difference is.

Looking to see differences in underhood temps or what?

Yes, just out of curiosity sake. Take any measurements yet?

No, don't have the tools to do so.

Ok,

I got my hands on a scanguage II and got it hooked up and set up in my car.

I have some questions for the people in the know that have experience with a scanguage concerning the intercooler testing I'm doing.

What are the readings I should take note of?

FIA - Intake temperature ?
IGN - Ignition timing ?
MAP - Manifold absolute pressure ?
LOD - Engine Load ?

Will these things be helpful? Anything else?

The top 3 for sure. You might want to drive your route and watch the gauge. I think you are going to find the values jumping around, it may be hard to get a good reading. You might look at these values and see if you can hit some steady throttle/load situations along the routes where the readings stabilize and you can get a quick reading before they begin to change.
I think it's going to be a challenge, but it will be fun as well. Maybe others will have some good suggestions.

Do you or anyone else know where the scangauge measures the intake temperature at?

Is it at the MAP sensor in the intake manifold?
