Drivetrain 259Whp Jan is the King
I'm kinda wondering the point of having much more than 200 whp. With a puny 190 whp, I can light up the tires at any speed in first or 2nd gear and within a more limited range in third. Without significant body work, you can't fit enough rubber under the car to use much more than the 200 horses.

You don't drive a car by mashing the throttle to the floor every time you get going. Learning throttle control is part of driving any fast car, it doesn't matter if it's a RWD car with 300 whp or a FWD car with 300 whp.
For the record, you need better tires if you're lighting them up in 3rd gear with 190 whp...
Runflats don't count! (Neither do cheapie UHP's)
225/45/R17 NT01's baby!

I could light up the tires in any gear, what's your point?

Are you rubbing any on the track etc?
No, I raise my car up to fit my tires though.
I actually run 225/50/R16's Avon Tech RA's on the track. My comment about NT-01's was for the street

How much improvement was gained with just your magical tune? 180 whp seems a bit lower than advertised.
what's advertised is not WHP it's HP at the crank.
never got a chance to tune mine as the motor went straight into a crate and in went the 2.0L
I missed something, pics, pics, pics where are can I find pics?
I'm confused....everywhere I'm reading it says WHP which last time I checked meant wheel horsepower no? Am I not getting something?
BTW what dyno manuf. does Jan use when tuning his cars?? I pulled 167 whp on a Dyno Dynamics last week and was told that they run around 13% lower than most others...any thoughts on that

And yes, WHP = Wheel Horsepower. What you get when you read factory car specs is BHP, or Brake Horsepower
I am anxiously awaiting that moment (in all seriousness). Then I can rationalize the additional performance work.
The point is: If you can't get the power to the ground in the gears you are using (1st, 2nd, and a little bit of third up to 80 mph), it's not worth spending a lot of effort and money to to keep the throttle from touching the floorboard. With the same 215 tires (I chose to lower rather than raise the car), I am guessing that a 300 whp MINI isn't going to perform much (if any) better than a 200 whp MINI in the 0-60.

There is just no comparision.
P.S. I'm running Goodyear GSD3's 215/45-17.
Just so you know, General Exclaim UHP's don't count as real tires...

Seriously, go get a set of real tires then talk about putting power down to the ground, and the pedal isn't an on off switch.
If you ramp up the throttle rather than mashing it to the floor you have no issues at all putting power down to the ground.
You also have to consider that not everyone mods their car to lower the drag strip times. This isn't a dragster. Track times have decreased quite a bit as power has increased. It's been proven a hundred times over.
Yes it's true, you can't leave run-flats on the car and put down 250+ whp, it just takes a bit of common sense...
My 0-60 times have dropped significantly as I've modded my car, and I've had 200+ whp for a LONG time.

. Anyways, I'll prolly snap some photos of the longblock.
