If I could talk my wife into fitting the entire family into a 135i I too would have one of these pretties sitting in the garage.

She's not buying that we could fit five of us and luggage for road trips. I told her we could take two cars and race there!

ANyway, gratz on the purchase! Excellent car

It's actually quite big. I don't think it seats 5 (Think its a 2+2) but it should have enough space for luggage for 4. I found it more roomy than the G35 in the back seat.

I give Jan a month before he starts tinkering.

I'll bet he's already been under the hood, he's also checked to make sure his flash tool plugs into the obd port

For those that are interested, weighed the cabrio today, certified scales, 2820lbs. 1/2 tank of gas and no driver.

As for the 135, I say Jan rips into this car and has to buy his wife a new one

I need to do that... I'm curious what my car weighs after all the weight reduction.

I'm actually surprised. With heated seats and all the usual garb, if I run the tanks low I'm down around 2780. I'd have thought the beast would be up over 3000, as I've seen some hardtops that heavy.

Yeah with all the comforts of modern motoring it's tough to keep the mass down.

My Dad and I are going to start our 1961 turbo austin woody wagon project next year. We're hoping to tip the scales in around 1600lbs tops!

Cooper S Hardtops that weigh 3000 lbs?

You're not talking about Pimped's car are you? With a 400 lb sub box?

I'd hope I'm in the low 2600's dry, maybe 2780 with me in it and a tank of gas...

Let's hear the weights.

Just for curiosity sake, I'd like to see a roll call of everyone who has weighed their car just to see the differences between models and options. And I don't mean adding or subtracting from the curb weight, but actually on 4 corner scales or a whole car unit. I thought mine would be a lot higher. I'm sure Paul Webster and some of the drag racers have weighed a few.

Anyone? Bueller?

Oh Rusty,

It's not a Mini without the weak 3 main bearings and 5 port head.... . 1 atmosphere of intercooled boost should give us 120ish HP with 1293cc! The Hemi would give us what---300ish HP and gobs of torque to the rear wheels. Pass on that nuttie build.

Psh, at least break 1 HP per 10 cc's.

There's a video floating around of a Mini with a 300+ hp smallblock V8 in it. It was... interesting.

Haven't weighed mine. If I ever cough up the cash to get it corner weighted/balanced I'll post my results.

Yeah we'll see what she pulls after we tune it old school on the rollers. We just need a few carb needles and springs, twist of the distributor, and turn or two of the jet height.

It's usually cheap at any public scale. The one I went to is located at a moving company's place. The scale's state certified and cost only $10 unless you want the official certified stamp, then it's $12 You can cough it up Rusty.

According to my research the closest DMV certified scale is about 45 miles from my house. I'll have to make a project out of it... haha.

What size were you running on the Falkens. I'm clearly in the market for new tires.

One household scale and 4 people could do this...
haha
One person per scale to count how many times the needle goes around... haha

215/40/R17's right now.

Depending on how ambitious I'm feeling at the time, I may replace them with 225/45/R17's or 235/40/R17's, not sure I can get enough heat in them to make it worth it though.

I've got 225/50/R16's stuffed under there right now for my track tires (Got a great deal). They're probably closer to 235's in actual width (They're REALLY wide). It really depends on wheel offset, ride height, and camber.

With my ET37 Ultraleggera track wheels, going wide is difficult. With something a bit less extreme like my ET43 (I think) offset Kosei K1 street wheels, you can stuff some wide rubber under there before I get rubbing.
