Drivetrain 259Whp Jan is the King
My 0-60 times are limited by available traction, not power. At 250 whp, I can only believe that there is insufficient traction to use full power at any speed in the first two gears. I can only use full throttle at the top end of second gear without spinning the tires.
Ok, maybe the Pirelli PZeros aren't sticky enough. what are you guys using.
I think you're confusing advertised hp with whp. The strongest GP we've seen is only 180 whp. Stock MCSs have been in the 140-145 range. My JCW was 173 before the pulley and tune. My car is running 45-50 whp over stock.

Now without the LSD, I'd hit second and lay miles of one legged rubber even at the JCW210, but not now.
I'm using German Goodyear GS-F1-D3. Very good tires, not perfect, but good.
P.S. What suspension are you running? JCW? Maybe too much weight transfer and unloading the front wheels.
I took my wife out to buy a clubman yesterday to replace her gas guzzling ML350 Mercedes SUV and look what she came home with..... a stock 5.1 sec
She said she was keeping the ML if she got the clubman, I thought great another car for me to pay insurance upkeep etc.... then she looked over the lot and saw the 128i....... thinkin... bummer not that car.... I look over and said, "honey, there is a white one over there and it's white just like you wanted!" (so she goes for a ride in the 135i and loves it....)
I asked her.... how was it? She says it's nice.
I said did you get into it on the test drive. She says no
She didn't find out til later it has 300hp and twin turbos
On the way home I said hang onto the steering wheel and get into it.....
here is what her face looked like

Tires can make a huge difference and not just in compound differences.
Tire weight can influence it too.
0-60 times would be less influenced by peak hp than the point the car starts making torque. My 90hp TDi Golf can accelerate as quickly as more powerful cars because it makes peak torque at 1900 rpm and stays there until almost red line.

There was a good article I read (can't find it now) that compared a diesel to an F1 motor. The diesel has well over 500 lb ft of torque while the F1 motor has one or two hundred. They optimized gearing on both and the F1 car still smoked the diesel on acceleration. Horsepower is what wins races.
maybe I can justify getting my own 135i and she won't complain about the mods.... this car would be a dragon slayer
it would be easy to get 650whp out of this one

Best of both worlds and we'd have a 650hp Mini!!!

Somehow I don't thing we're getting the full story on this one. I picture a Tim the Tool Man scenario that has the wife gun-shy. Maybe Longboard will spill the beans.Go ahead and get the 135. Just make sure you have the Vuarnet glasses and boat shoes polished up
Don't want to loose you to the dark side in the Bimmer. If you're weak, you'll be sitting at the yacht club in no time. Fortunately I am the Rodney Dangerfield of the club and they don't invite me back.
no worries here padwa..... I love the Mini.... too easy to go fast when you have 3.0L to start with
at some pt I need to send her out on a cruise to Alaska so I can track her car

. I've seen plenty of stock MINI's dyno around 155 whp. Sooo, that's about 45 HP. Big deal. 45 HP doesn't = a 2 second reduction in 0-60 times,
. PZero's are horrible tires for traction.
I run Hankook RS-2's right now, and Falken Azenis RT-615's in the past. The 615's are great tires and grip plenty well.
Hahaha, No, Then tehre will be no jan to tune my car when I need it! U should buy an M car and go to the M-driving school, I went with my dad after his purchase of the e60 M5 and It was fun as hell!!! I got to show the vets how the young pups do it on a roadcourse and post a group best time with some gear choice mistakes!
Dont forget the 5 speed liberty 9 inch Axle and some 10.5 slicks
I love that car too just wish it wasn't so much GD money! I priced one out (maybe I put a few too many options, but not much more than I'm used to in the Mini and hit $40K no problem....that's a lot of money!! But I guess if Subaru can charge 33 or 35 whatever it is now for their tin can STi than 40 for a bmw is a STEAL right?? Man the price you pay to go fast these days!!!!
