I really do think it is a well designed piece. You really do need to relax
. I've seen it first hand and came very close to calling you guys. The only problem I had was the price. I repeat, the only problem I had was the price.Longboard
For $500 it's a great way to lower the temps and still run the stock intercooler.
It was that or spend over $4000.00 for your system. I love my coolingmist system.

Stock
Two horns and the stock intercooler = x lb's
Gintani
Large cast manifold/intercooler with core, Cast horn from SC to intercooler, large, thick and long water lines, water pump, water tank, 1.6 gallons of water, large front mount radiator = x lb's
Really? Are you sure? How much does the system weigh?
I'm just asking.

To lower the intake temps and increase WHP when I was running the stock intercooler with the Eaton SC at 231WHP.

Side note - i think WM is viable for any/all ICs - perhaps the IC would influence the mix - better IC, less mix (conjecture on my part). Living in Florida, I am constantly toying with adding WM.
Its good to flush out the answers on a new product but but the back and forth + passive attacks are annoying to sift thru.
My opinion for what its worth:
Pros:
- A extremely well thought out piece(s) from the outside looking in
- Higher Dyno numbers probably due to better cooling/flow. I imagine its amplified by the fact an A2A suffers more from lack of real driving Airflow (dyno fan) that is untill the water gets heat soaked from the same.
- craftmanship looks top notch
Cons:
- Price: IMO unless you need this as a solution or have done everything else but must have more its hard to justify the price vs performance.
- Id like to know how long it would take to heat soak on track vs mixed daily driving. Ie: does the heat exchanger keep it down completely durring daily driving? Does track eventually overcome the heat exchange.
Just my thoughts I have no experience just what ive read on forums. And im not bashing at all Just incase cause I know its easy to get defensive when under constant attack.

WOW! I'm sad say that I have read through most of this thread. It is great that Jan has so many happy customers, but there really is NOT any excuse for any of the attacks against Gintani. Even if you feel that you have a right to correct a claim or statement, it could clearly be handled in a better way.
As for this product from Gintani, like many others I really like the design and the thought that went into it. And it would seem that Randy Webb likes it also. He apparently had very good results with it racing on the track, an environment that is MUCH more harsh than my Mini will ever see. So I am very confident that this product works well, without putting additional stress on other components. You know, once upon a time, any product that Randy Webb liked was held in the highest regard here on NAM.
However, this being said, I personally have two problems with this product. First, the price is more than I will be able to afford any time soon. If I had the cash I would seriously consider it. So I'm simply not who Gintani is marketing their product to, and I'm ok with that.
Second, I don't know where I could have one fitted locally or within a 6 hour drive from here. In fact, I'm yet to hear of any shop besides the dealership that local MINI owners trust to do an oil change, never mind a pulley, head or other work.
So overall, I'm just glad to see a quality product come to market.

Detroit Tuned is one of our authorized partners within your area. Detroit Tuned possesses the knowledge, technical, and mechanical skills required to perform any type of modification to your Mini. They are located in Michigan ask to speak to Chad Miller (Great Guy).
No, I JUST got off the phone with George and Steve Diniz only has the Stage 4 Madness Kit and NOT twin charged but Randy's MCS was/is. (at these races, Steve's Mini did not have ABS) And this is Summit Point just so everyone knows.
Here is a pic of the Turbo Mini (for clarification sake)...(Sorry guys, I'm NOT trying to Hi-Jack, just get the right info out there) 2 Completely different Minis

Here is a link showing Steve's View Point during some of the racing.

Im trying to get a hold of Randy to chime in to this very subject. We were there at Laguna Seca, he was driving and he wasnt twincharged at the time. Randy did switch to a twincharge setup later and I posted his custom manifold on the twin charged thread.
Who do you think shot the video that was posted? Take a wild guess?

I've dealt with Chad for a few small parts and couldn't agree more, great to deal with. I just did a mapquest and his shop is 5 1/2 hours from here, not including the time to cross the Canada / US border twice. It's about the same distance to Helix in Philly. A shop near Toronto would be much closer and I could visit family while I'm up there. Who knows, maybe in the future.
No, as far as I know Steve Diniz Madness Mini is NOT twin charged but Randy's was/is.

A design that works great for a racing application may not be the best for daily drivers. Especially for an IC. Think about it......during a race you are at a fairly high speed and you are constantly moving. So heat soak is not a problem. While a daily driver has stop and go traffic to contend with. So getting rid of heat soak quickly is the top priority.
Is there any data on heat soak recovery?
Is there any data on heat soak recovery?
The opinions and data regarding our aftercooler system continues to get contested, and we feel in order to give you realistic point of views these questions should be answered by NAM members who have purchased our products.
Recoop has personally taken the time to data log the temperatures in his Mini, the data he possess cannot be contested nor modified by Gintani.
