I've had my ECU for almost two weeks now... but haven't had the time to put it on the car! I started reading about the problems with many people's harnesses (bad pins?) and haven't had a chance to set aside the time to mess with it. I need to get it on the car so I can see what all the fuss is about.

An extra set of hands made all the difference in installing (for me at least). Tough parts were getting the OEM plastic cover off and getting enough slack to get the harness connected. Mine ran great as advertised. But died after a couple of tanks of gas. Currently waiting for an RMA number...

if you don't run the wire inside the car you can do the install in under 10 minutes easily. then you'll know if you need the updated harness.

I highly doubt it.

Where did you "hear" this? Ironically, aren't you the one that has been thoroughly against the Alta ECU?

I can just see the dealerships adding a line to the paperwork requesting your NAM screen name.

The service rep at a dealer was telling me that with some warranty issues, MINI gets involved and my "research" the issue. They had one guy come in with melted brakes and claimed that he had not "tracked" the car. MINI found that he had.

is this the new harness? It doesn't look anything like the old one. I'm not even sure how it would hook up. There are only 2 cables instead of 3.

Maybe it's actually a picture of the harness for the r53?

edit: it must be for the r53. Same picture now as for the r53 pnp. Also connectors are the wrong shape.

Have you gotten the new harness yet?
Canned photo. The harnesses are now in Seattle. Pending customs clearance, will be delivered Wendesday. I will be trying MANY of them on my own car, before shipping any again. VERY SOON folks

Just FYI for some folks, I have been running the Unichip for a very long time, logged probably 1000 miles (I drive alot) - no issues to speak of.

Old school harness represent!
