You definitely can do that, But usually it is set-up with stock-ish map (#1) and then the aggressive map (#2). Do you really want to be running 19 psi and holding 15 all the time? Do you care about gas mileage?

If you answered yes then no, you should definitely do it.

I personally drive pretty far to work so I value my 36-37mpg on the highway, but having that switch there for the weekend sounds pretty good to me.

ME? Yes I did.

I did if for a couple of reasons. Mostly because it looked much better and cleaner that the "home made" one. The other reason was that mine did not have the 90degree angle that everyone was talking about. I know I could have made one of those too but, the ALTA setup is nice looking, very sercure, it does not wiggle around. Plus it matches the turbo inlet hose and etc.

I can say that I have had my ECU on since November of last year. You only hit boost like that when you are flooring it or going into overboost. It does not hold 15 or 20 lbs of boost the whole time. My gas milage has not suffered at all, unless that is if I floor it all the time, but then it would eat gas with the stock MAP too if I did that.

That's just the answer I wanted to hear.

Now If only the girls at Alta would call to ask for my mods!!!

Can't take the wait

Hey mike, I remember you posting your 1/4 mile times i believe 14.3 or so. Have you gone any other times to the track and have had different times?

Any word on when the Flux upgrade will be available? Will the functionality of this upgrade replace the need for the map selector switch?

Do you have to go through the firewall

My number one concern is ease of installing and removing. Is there any way to mount all the hardware including the toggle switch inside the engine bay rather than going through the firewall. If so how much time does it save. If you did not have to do this step how long would the install and uninstall take.

How much HP do you think the least aggressive map makes. I am in CA and we only have low quality 91 octane. please provide opinion based on a completely stock car with just a mild tune.

I have my whole ECU in the engine bay. You do not have to put anything through the firewall if you dont want to. The install of the PnP only takes 15 minutes at max.

Also I live in AZ, all we have is 91 too!

This is how I mounted mine. The rocker switch is fastened to the back of the headlight with tie-wraps. Less then 10 minutes to remove.

Looks clean

Just a few more questions

Is it easy to plug in or can damaged be done to the factory computer if it has to be removed.

I race auto cross and time trial road course but If possible please quantify your gains from the intake, cat back, and ECU in terms of quarter mile. If you had to guess assuming the car runs about 14.8 stock how fast do you think your car would run now. Also, assuming crank HP of 172 what do you think your setup would run at the crank in setting 1 mild and setting 2 more aggressive.

I am just about to pull the trigger but want to make sure I make the right decision.

I don't have any 1/4 mile times for you (no strip here) but you won't go wrong with a chip, intake and FMIC. It makes awesome bang-for-the-buck. Anything else you add is just icing on top.

We wanted to be sure everything else was addressed before tackling the new CanBUS for the flux. But it is going now. No ETA, but it is going to be kool. I was playing with it in the R53 versions and WOW what a neat piece!

Yeah what Mike said. I haven't pulled any of it through the firewall on my car. Depending on how aesthetically pleasing you want the engine bay, determines how long the install will actually take.

The 91 octane maps are also VERY impressive as Mike has eluded too as well.

Thanks for asking!

BEST thing to do, ISN'T to post it here!!!!!!! If you want the fastest service, ring us up my friend! Call our offices at 503-222-MINI talk to Christina (who is a real peach by the way. Always happy to help a fellow MINI person!) give her the info, and she will help you straight away.

Thanks again!

I have had kits in and out about 20 times on "Lloyd" and Jack at UNI car has had more than 100 harnesses in it. So no concerns their either.

Just be sure you don't use a sledge hammer to make the install and you should be a-ok!
