We solved the issue with our "CEL Defender" this part will take care of the soft throttle issue some of you have experienced (not from collapsing intake tubes) but usually from the ECU uppgrades that are available on the market- place IE. Alta/Unichip modules.

I will have a new Vendor release of the part on Monday with some images
as well....

hey Peter,

Thanks for the post. But from what I read on the other forum you mentioned this in, a CEL defender on the MAF is NOT a good idea and will cause tremendous issues relating MAF signals to the ECU and thus compensation for air flow, air temp and volume changes.

There are NO reported incidence of CEL's from intake systems (ours or even the near free versions on teh market as well) that remove the OEM filter, box and assembly. There isn't any additional turbulence in these situations.

Of course I would like to see more information on the product you mentioned, but until I see it, I must say I am concerned.

Thanks again! Chat soon!

CELs are a sign something is wrong, I usually do not use a product that hides CELs or CEL triggers from me. Perhaps some more details would be appropriate in a new thread...
Agreed!

I am needing help also
Did you ever figure out what it was? That is exactly what is happening to me, I just installed it yesterday. I dont have the aftermarket tube to collapse, so I know its not that. Anyone have any ideas?

richi0207 and Fenrir,
What did you find out about your high gear boost cuts with the PnP?

Prices changed a few weeks to months ago. Sorry that you missed out on the introductory price. Let me know before you buy something else and I will get a coupon going for you on a % discount. Would that help?

Thanks again for the purchase!

Nothing concrete yet. Had a couple inlets that failed. Literally a couple. So not a wide spread concern. But if you have one, for sure check it and let us know.

On the other concerns, try both maps and let me know. Also, pm me with your # and I can certainly ring you if you need to chat.

Thanks again!

Hey guys and gals,

Jeff and I did some addl. testing this week on some stuff including on some returned "bad" ECU / Harness combos.

Interesting results:

One member here sent me one back, had a reported P0115D code and worked great in 1-4 th gears accelerating hard, but roll in 4-5-6th had the code above. Literally took it out of the box, plugged it into Lloyd and went for a few runs. 20 miles later and no cel. Tried the exact same tests on the freeway making pulls repeatedly in 5th and 6th. No Cel. Launched the car, got into 4th at 1500 rpm, pulled through to 90 mph 3X in a row, no CEL no problem.

Removed harness and repeated with another local 08 MCS. Same results. Tried an 07 MCS, same results.

This was the same with all of them returned.

Gave one to another local client to try, boom 15 minutes CEL, same code same issue.

So Jeff and I will continue to research, BUT it would appear that there are some changes in cars that doesn't seem to have rhyme or reason from a production date standpoint. Auto /6-spd no difference.

SO the product is VERY good, harnesses are 100%, but there are a handful of cars that will have this CEL. We will of course continue to work on it moving forward till be 100% satisfaction with all vs. 95%.

Thanks again NAM for the support and the opportunities!

Chat soon!

Interesting. I had this specific P0115D CEL code as one of two codes that first appeared with the GEN I ALTA PnP ECU Kit. It continued to show up each time I installed the GEN II, & GEN III PnP ECU Kits. After the collapsing ALTA INLET TUBE problem was diagnosed and Jeff (ALTA) recommeded re-swapping back the OEM Inlet tube prior to returning the ecu kit, the P0115D disappeared and the congestion and performance issues, boost cut that resulted each time I installed the ecu went away.

So in my case, the ALTA INLET TUBE was the culprit and was causing the P0115D CEL error. Waiting for an ALTA replacement and hope it is coming soon.

I do however want to state that in my setup, the ecu definitely rocks now after the OEM INLET swap . A persisting 0420 code that first appeared with the P0115D is exhaust system related.

Thank you for the honest read on your situation. Glad everything is a-ok now. Also, on your inlet, do you want to exchange for one of the newer ones? Let me know!

What's the difference between the new inlet hoses and the old ones?

At some point, a few( and very few from my understanding) did not cure properly, and with the added boost of the ECU, collapse causing little or no boost in the upper gear/rpm range. So, people who have had this problem(such as kntrktor and myself) are waiting for the replacement(s).

Snkbte has it right above. The only other addition is a hard piece of wiring through the tube itself to prevent collapsing even in the roughest of conditions.

Let me know if I can help!

Let me know if you come up for a possible fix for the 5% with the CEL since I am local and also had the high gear CEL. I'd be happy to swap a few days with a Porsche, Lotus, WRX, or Mitsubishi if that would speed up the research.

HAHAHAHHA, you have spent too much time in my garage obviously. What I might do, is when you can try one of these on your car. Then you and I can go out and I can watch you drive the car, etc. to see if there is some magic I am not doing to make it happend. I can tell you we do want 100% satisfaction or at least an ability to determine why certain vehicles have this occur.

Chat soon Kirk!

Just installed my UNI Chip and everything is running great...NO CEL's Yet...The car feels a little stronger but I didn't really get a chance to get on it. I did notice after a nice sprint on I10 that the MPG dropped from 29.2 to 24.6 very fast. I have never seen it drop that fast before the Uni Chip, so that is one indicator that it is working.....Next up a boost gage.....Thank you Alta for the remap and a great product.....I hope I don't eat those words.....

I will really give it a test this weekend on a small road trip. On my drive to work this morning, I drove it very moderately and the MPG went higher than it's ever been......I'm loving that alone....and to know that if I want to get on it the power is there.....I don't get excited about much but this put a big grin on my face.
