The ALTA PnP ecu definitely rocks and I am loving it. Following the Inlet Hose swap, its been very stable. I push it hard everyday and every opportunity I get. Fun factor continues to climb and average MPG (city+hwy) stays around 31+ MPG . SO did not experience any material drop in MPG!

Yes, I need the updated INLET HOSE. Please send to CHAD (Detroit Tuned) and he will handle the exchange. I will be sending you an email tomorrow regarding the other related matter that we have been talking about, just have been busy. I am sure CHAD sent you all the info, need to get it taken care of. Thanks

None of that should be a problem. I know Chad spoke to Jeff (I think Jeff is our best person to handle the situation in this case.) They appear to be working through whatever is necessary.

Let me know though if communications break down.

Chat soon!

Back from the road trip, with a slight problem. Upon the installation I had the setting set to the A or 1 mapping and had no CEL's so for the trip I decided to test the B or 0 setting. I made the switch and was on my way, about 5 miles into the trip I got a CEL. I tried the start and stop 5 times with no avail, I switch back to the 1 setting with no avail, and so I called Alta and spoke to Steven. Steven didn't appear to work in technical support but he did a fine job. I got to an AutoZone and had the code read it came back with P115D and was able to clear it. I called Steven back with the info and he thought that it would be fine to move forward down the road. I left it on the 1 setting the rest of the trip with no CEL's. So while not flawless the trip was still a success, and I want to thank Steven for his support.

Thanks for asking. I have had clients install the switch under the dash using a cable tie to prevent it from wandering around. Seemed to work pretty good.

The chip goes to map O if the switch isn't installed at all.

Thanks again, glad you are enjoying the power!

Got my Alta PNP ECU last week and installed 2 days before a track day ( time attack). I had just added a down pipe to the Alta catback and had a FMIC coming. Got the ECU tuned for those items and intake. The FMIC didn't come in time, so I called Alta and they said it would be OK to run it without it.

Well it ran great! Not a single problem. Seeing 20 psi on the boost gauge, was 16 before. Pulls strong. Beat the hell out of car in 100 degree temps and it ran great all day.
I had map 0 set for 91 octane and 1 set for 93. Have only used map 1 so far, not to press my luck without the bigger intercooler.

Looks like they have got things worked out. I'll let you know it goes once I get the intercooler and mix some race gas.

Ring me or Jeff or send us an e-mail and we can discuss. The VAST majority do NOT need to be replaced.

Thanks!

Any news on the an in-car tuning/performance meter, upgrade? Are all ECU upgrades compatable or should we wait to order?

TIA

Thanks for asking. Those upgrades are completely usable with the current ECU. It is an add on module. (Like what we currently offer for the R53.) So you can buy now and then upgrade to that module later on.

Thanks again for asking!

Reprogramming of ECU seems to be affecting extra boost

Hmm.....I've noticed something in the past couple of weeks. I took my MINI in for service about 3 weeks ago and as part of the service they downloaded a software update to the car.

Since the dealer updated the programming the peak boost value is 16.5 when I used to be able to obtain a peak value of 20.5

How likely is it that the new programming is interfering with my custom tune? The car is still plenty of fun and fast but I'm not seeing the boost values on my gauge that I used to see before they dealer reprogrammed the ECU.

That is EXTREMELY odd! But, not impossible. My bigger concern would be that there was a boost leak created during the service. (Maybe something was loosened up and not retightened.) OR we have a had a small percentage of the boost sending units (I assume you have out gauge package in the car, if not ignore this) go bad and they will either read wrong, or they will stop working altogether.

If the car is still performing properly and the power seems to be the same, then I suspect it is the boost gauge being the issue.

We are not aware of any software changes that affect the base boost levels in the car. Worst case scenario bring the car back to Jeff and I and we will double check things and if needed adjust the programming in the chip accordingly.

Keep Jeff and I posted!

Will do, thanks again Adam. I'll continue to keep an eye on things and let you know if I am able to figure it out or not.

Also, it could be that it may take a bit longer to re-learn things. Might try removing the neg. battery terminal. Stand on the brake pedal, then reattach. Let the car idle for two heating /cooling cycles, then go drive the car hard and watch the boost gauge.

Might be that them doing what they did, sort of starting things over again.

Let me know! Thanks again as always for your help! Look forward to seeing you again soon.

I appreciate the help Adam! I've tightened all of the hose clamps with the exception of the hose at the bottom of the intercooler (I haven't been able to reach it yet). I probably did have a leak somewhere as my peak boost is now 18 PSI (my pre dealer service peak boost was 20.5)

I'll try to find time tomorrow to go through the reset process and let the ECU relearn things again.

I was waiting for this too but $200 off summer special works also so I just ordered one. Do you have an ETA yet on the add on module ?

I thought ukaussi was joking, but I look at Alta's web site, and the ECU is $200 less.

Being someone who recently paid $749, I find that a little insulting.

Thanks!
