Drivetrain Project X-300
Ain't that a beeotch!
Congrats on the great number! I'm sure you can't wait to jump in it when you get home. I'm sure with cooler ambient temps you'll be over the 300 mark.

Just the way I want it.
See below
.
.I got a ride. All i can say Is wow.
Very smooth Very linear. Quiet too. The rotrex has a very intresting sound to it thats for sure. The inlet temps are very low. and do return to just above ambient almost right now.
Its seriously amazing to be able to get out of the car after hammering it and be able to put your hand on Not one but Both Sides of the intercooler.
And that means........ That 299.7 never leaves or goes away.
The tune is pretty well done so far but Jan says it needs some work yet.
Their was no real rough spots i noticed. and it did seem to Run a smidge rich.
The power was great its pretty much about what i think i would want for a daily driver.
Though the car rides a bit rough and seems to have alot of weight to it its phenominaly fast.
Leather- HK -Sunroof - 18" W/40's - DynaMat
. Yes, the Donkey mobile isn't the lightest. I've got what "I" wanted in a car and way more. I tell people all the time to build your car the way "you" want it. To often on here guys just follow the same path. I can cruise and talk to the wife like we were in a 5 series yet alone I can transform the car into a little beast.
Rough
. He did drive you around the dyno shop on what I consider the worst roads in SoCal. Wait till I give you ride through the canyon young man
.
It was epic to pull up to The shop and see Longboards car Rustyboy155s car and A car with that crazy front mount intercooler set up.
But as far as nearing completion the rotrex is getting to be almost perfect.
I cant wait for the final "offical numbers" I know what its 299.7 now and its pretty impressive.
Theres a reason why Rmw is ahead of the game and cars and projects like this are it.
I know whats in the pipeline its gonna be Pretty intresting.

. I know of an R50 that could be both totally expensive to pull off and a ton of work but I think people would love to hear about.
Well the R50 I am talking about was a swap some crazy brit did. The swap involved a Honda K20 motor which for everyone who may not know the honda engine names its a 2.0L i-VTEC that is used in the Acura RSX (UK Honda Integra) with GT3076R turbo
.
it's not a MINI anymore
That's my "Air Chamber"
. It draws ambiant air in from the front grill and directs it straight into the log manifold.
I made this based on what DrPhil and Partsman had made to work with the DFIC and adapted it to a down draft intercooler. I took it a little further and made a shield that covers "just the top" of the intake manifold. The idea being to stop some of the heat from soaking the intercooler. It's made from four layers of Thermo-Tec stuff. It's reflective on both sides. It also acts as the roof for the air chamber. The second thing I did different was to add an ARC Cool-Fin to the face of the manifold. This is just a stick on heat sink (very cool stuff). Turbo Mag tested this stuff and found up to a 10 degree drop with it on.
So now fresh air gets rammed into the air chamber and blasts directly into the face of the manifold. How much does this help? who knows but it can't hurt and was fun to make.

That thing must be ridiculous to drive.
Not Hardly
Partsman its really something you Need to try.
I dont think its bad at all. its just about perfect for the street
Like bryan said its very quiet and sedate and it can be transformed into a crazy little monster in a hurry.
It is just about 300 hp. Really if you do the math its about 335 at the flywheel.
So i wouldent complain one bit.
anyone who dose really just needs a ride in the car that will shut them up.
Its not about the power numbers its about how it feels.
After riding in the car and knowing what bryan uses it for it would be just Sick to add more power to it in any large quanity

That same car run a disappointing 15.06 at 100mph
Great results and a fun project to watch. Hats off for doing it right. Keep us updated.
Hint:To get that extra .3 hp you might try putting on some stickers (koni, magnaflow, K&N, turbonetics, vortech, etc). Many people around here tell me that every square inch of sticker is worth 10 hp,even if you dont own the parts associated with said sticker. If that fails add chrome.
