It's not like it doesnt produce heat just nothing near the heat the Eaton produces. RMW is running higher boost compared to the Fit, Miata and other little cars running without intercoolers.
The Rotrex has it's own dedicated oil tank and oil cooler that's mounted up front. The Rotrex oil is a special synthetic oil created just for it. One quart go's for about $90.00
.
This isn't done. In about two-three weeks Jan has something to add that "could" really make things interesting.

When is you're car going to get the final tune?
should be the 1st 1:25 Mini at SOW
I can't wait to have someone finally raise the bar

A positive response to a competitors development?

Must go home and drink scotch.....

I know, he is going to add Wheaties??
that said, everybody wins when people push the boundaries (including competitors....R&D is expensive and if someone else proves the concept, the rest follow suit). If nobody pushes, we'd all have stock cars with stock power and handling. Look at how far we've come since the car was released in 2001 We have had a rough couple of months here with the introduction of the R56 and Randy Webb's self-imposed exile.
See, in the early days of Mini tuning, a lot of us "idea" shops got our ideas from the Colorado Poodle. Randy made a 15% pulley out of aluminum, we made a 15.2% pulley out of tinfoil. Randy came up with the RAF, we, stole his idea and called it our own.....
Wait - that was someone else........my bad.
So with the exception of the the dude with a girls name and that guy in Philly who looks like Randy's shorter, uglier and gheyer twin, we are left trying to pilfer our ideas from the remaining detritus producing crap knockoffs for the Mini.
I mean after Webb's air box design was stolen and whored out to other vendors, even Jerry and I (who have no morals whatsoever) felt crappy about knocking off a knock off of a stolen idea. I mean, how low do you think we'll go?
So, once some real vendors start making some real products for the Mini, we will be forced to go back to our first love - crime scene photography and freelance phlebotomy.
Hope that helps!

I think there was a bit of sarcasm matched with equal parts of 'show me' thrown in.

I am? I'm saying what Skip did. A few people innovate, the rest copy. The innovators get bragging rights (and hopefully make a quality product and enough people buy the original to fund more innovation), the second tier vendors copy and us owners get to choose what's best for them. Having choices is a good thing.

The car is home and I have been playing with it a little. This thing is fast. The changes they made have really made a difference and it hasn't even been tuned yet. I'm not going over 7K until it gets tuned. Even keeping it under that the difference is big.
Unfortunately I'm off to the Netherlands on Monday and Jan is San Fran so the car isn't going to get tuned until I get back.
I will post some pics tommarow of the engine bay now that it's all back together.

.The CAI isn't an RMW product. It is from a new company called Voltage.
Longboard
Please let us know how your new CAI compares to all others out there. Also, where can we get one and how much. Other than that, when will the production version of the X-300 be ready and how much. At least give us waiting with some idea of an approximate cost....My bonus check is burning a hole in my pocket......
You have to email voltageproducts@aol.com. $265.00 for mine. They can custom paint it for you.

does Jan approve of the new Voltage CAI? do they (Voltage) have an option for a cotton (K&N style) filter? could i use the filter off of my Helix unit? i really like that intake. i would love to see the engine bay pics of the X300 too. will the end tanks on the intercooler be welded or cast on the final production piece?
I am not unrealistic when it comes to CAIs. I see this as a very small step that might help as I accumulate more effective mods, such as a new head and injectors. I like the product because it has a velocity stack inlet and is not made of metal but is closed on top like the stock airbox. Get one in flat black, and at a glance only someone familiar with MINIs would realize that it is not a stock airbox. I am on the East Coast and did not give CARB a single thought, so you'll have to inquire.According to your signature, you already have a CAI. I would not expect gains.

at the aol address - always a sign of a legit business. seriously though...even aol allows you to use your own business name as the domain - you just need to set it up with their tool.
