Must be summer, busy here
so this morning it was kinda drizzly and not so motoring weather, so
i washed the GT3 wheels front and back. man that's a lot of brake
dust from the brembo's.
dustier than the MCS's brakes.
the griot's wheel bucket and boar's hair brush came in handy. not
sure why the bucket costs $14 though... it is a robust bucket but
just a piece of injected plastic and a handle. has no Griot's logo
or anything.
hahaha.
then i took my shopvac in blower mode and blow dried the wheels
as much as possible, Hydro'ed. now they are air drying in the
garage. maybe tonight if they are completely dry i will stack
them up. they are definitely gems.

Nice.
My car is INCREDIBLY bug-covered from driving about 750 miles in two days... Hopefully can wash tonight, and might start the clay/polish job...
I'll detail my wheels AFTER my Dragon run in 10 days... when I'll have the uber-dusty AX6 pads on....
Maybe Griot will sell you some decals for $10 each that you can use to increase the value of your other non-Griot's stuff.

wow, you didn't use any painter's tape during the cross-country
trip, huh?
you are brave.
if you can stand dirty wheels i would definitely wash it after
the hard use.
.. but for me, even on my lightly driven MCS's
wheels, i clean it after 2 runs.
i should get that new "griot's certified detailer" sign, huh?
LOL

Clearbra. Daily Driver. 43,000 miles in two years. No chips or dings. And the bugs and tar wash right off. Try it sometime.
I didn't say I wouldn't *wash* my wheels... just said I wouldn't *detail* them quite yet... I'll make them clean enough for my kids to eat off off today when I wash them... but they won't be clean enough for *you* to eat off them until I do the full wheel detail.

sounds good. dang 43k miles in 2yrs...
me: 28k miles in 5yrs.
with clearbra due to soft dealer painted aerokit.
ahhh, i see. yes, big difference between washing and detailing wheels
to kenchan eating surface.

being a cheaparse car, the FitS did not come with a map light...
with the daylight getting shorter and shorter it's going to be an
inconvenience when i walk into my car and i want to find something
in the car without firing up the engine.
the dome light
illuminates pretty well, but i want more lighting up front.
so im going to be installing a STI maplight assy this weekend.
some STI owners install roof vents and they remove that map
light module.

this morning i was feeling kinda under the weather so decided not to
motor my MCS and instead wrapup the GT3 wheels into my tirerack
totebag and stack them up on my home made wheel carrier.
huh, i had a old pict with my stock wheels in them. so kinda like this:

I like those tire totes... I just stack mine with cardboard dividers on my carrier that looks just like yours (except mine is painted)... I almost bought the totes, but really don't see the value for my purposes.... but they look REALLY nice...
Hmm...I just realized I still haven't put my mudflaps on. I need to find time to do that...
Anyone have either the pearly Silverstar turn signal bulbs or some chrome ones? I want to see what they look like on a MINI.

I have chrome ones.... they look invisible.
Actually, I originally bought chrome ones... then when one burned out, I made replacements by shooting a very light coat of silver paint on regular orange bulbs. Works perfectly. And CHEEEEP.

scuff the lips on them. it use to be a bare stack like yours in the past
but here are the benefits with these totes:
1) much easier to carry. i sometimes stack these in the basement and
just makes it that much easier to carry and not get your cloths or walls
dirtified from the tires.
2) much nicerer looking when stacked vs loose mirror sheets and cardboard
flapping in the wind.
3) helps prevent tires from drying/cracking during the cold dry weather.
the stockers are 4yr old Pilots. they still stick like glue.
4) helps reduce rubber gas emmisions directly to surrounding things.
if you have finished walls sometimes you see yellowing from the rubber
gas. you greatly reduce the risk.
so it has benefits.
1) I don't carry mine anywhere - they stay in the garage on the tote.
2) My cardboard is cut into tire-sized discs - invisible in the stack.
3) We don't get cold, dry weather here. I wish....
4) My garage is rough finished and a rat nest. Outgassing might IMPROVE how the walls look....

one that brought it up to NAM 4-5yrs ago.

Damn! I just looked at my turn signals on the way in from lunch and they look super orange now! Anyone know what bulb model they are? I may buy some silverstars at AutoZone or something on the way home. How easily are they changed?
The trick is to just "dust" the bulb with enough to mask the orange - and no more. If done properly, there is virtually no discernible dimming. Think about it - this is pretty much the same thing that "storebought" silver bulbs are...
