Three Floyds, like "Alpha King"? Thirsty Dog, I'll have to have a look around. We went to one of their brewpubs once.

I drink just about everything. No rauchbeer please. :-P

We have another new participant which brings the total to 41. So much larger than I thought we'd get.

The site has been updated. I put all the initial info into a table like the participant list to make it easier on the eyes. At least that was my intent.

Latest Update

So here we are 67 days till the big event.

We are now up to 43 participants bringing beer from close to 50 different breweries.

For those that didn't get my email, I'd like to ask that anyone who is bringing someone along with them to the Brew Swap to please email me and let me know. matthewrohrbach@gmail.com I need to keep an accurate count.

Speaking of email. I still don't have email addresses for: OmToast, Byron, Helix13Mini, Jorgeaz, Driskill, Miniwildcat, Wraith1416, CSAMF, trick & agranger. You guys should email me using the link above so I have your email and can notify you of things. It's much easier for me to email everyone at once about something. Include your name as well since I am missing that for some of you too.

Thanks to the excellent idea of Blalor and the generosity of Miniplay we will not have some entertainment while we do our brew swap thing. Miniplay is loaning us his projector, Blalor is bringing his laptop full of Top Gear episodes and I'm bringing the stereo to pump out the sound. So we can enjoy Top Gear with our beer.

I'm still working on door prizes but it isn't going as well as I'd hoped. Still, we do have a custom whalen **** to give away plus we should have some freebie stuff from a few kind breweries to give away.

Please remember to keep checking the website. I update it when ever we have a new participant join the fun. Make sure the beer I have listed next to your user ID is what you still plan to bring. I will need to know by mid-april what you all are bringing...the specific beers not just the breweries. This is of course if that's possible for you.

I originally was going to make up some neat signs and such but since so many people are coming I have ditched that idea as too costly. BUT I will be printing up a list of the attendees NAM user ID & first name along with where they are from and the beers they have brought. This'll basically be your guide to see what is on the menu.

The most frequently asked question is how much beer should I bring? Bring as much as you want or as little as you want. There is no minimum. There is no maximum. Just remember there is never such a thing as too much beer.

I'll be talkin' at ya again soon.

Matt

Just PMd my email address.

With 67 days to go, I have hit the hardcore training for this event. Whereas it's important not to over-train, you have to do your time, slowly pickling the liver, such that it's perfectly ripe at the time of the beer swap.

Looking forward to a healthy MOTD...

You have convenient access to a brewery since you rent space from one.

Not fair.

Guys,

I'm thinking about capping the Brew Swap at 50 participants (not counting the spouses, gf/bf, friends each is bringing). Right now we're at 45.

Any objections to capping it at 50? Total # of people will end up between 50 & 100 if we cap at 50.

You know, it occurs to me that

this may end up being a lot like church. Some arrive late, some leave early, some stay in bed and don't show up at all. And some even wish....they were church-goers.

It may well be that pp show up and say "That looks like fun" and you might hate to exclude them, just because they did not plan ahead. Frankly, I am bringing beer to donate - - - I don't drink enuf to matter and you might find that you have beaucoup beer left over anyway. Leftover beer is meant to be shared.....with those who show up late or just happen by.

Just some thoughts.

We're in! Sent you an email with all the required info. We are bringing Yeungling (we live in PA about 1 1/2 hours from the brewery).

I have two special requests for any Michigan participants (we used to live in MI): I am partial to Big Buck beer and hubby likes Thomas Manley.

Looking forward to the swap!

Susan

Capping it sounds good to me...Any extra beer we have is coming with us, not sharing, because we're going back down to Alabama after the event, and they have a terrible beer selection down there!

I'm still in the process of determining the second of my offerings, but I won't mind tossing a few into a communal pot for any strays that find us.

JPS, it's not that I want to exclude anyone. I really don't. If I wanted to do that I'd charge an admittance fee.

But I also don't want it to be a free for all of people in an out who aren't registered. Technically I'm the one who has the liability should something go wrong. At least with a registered list of people I know who is attending and depending on the trouble that may be very important.

No I don't expect trouble. But this is alcohol and we do have under agers attending the Dragon. And as Ron White said "you can't fix stupid".

I'll up the limit to 55 people which leaves 9 slots open after the requests I received yesterday. I'll update the web site to reflect that and the first post in this thread.

I'm like apoptosis in that any left over beer I have will becoming home with me. Hell, I plan to have the boys over after I get back with all the new beers to try. I'm still gonna try and get one off of everyone. Might weigh down the MINI though since we now have quite a lot of people coming.

All that said I don't plan to be a bastard about it. If some poor soul shows up at the door beer in hand begging to get in and saying he didn't know about the registration well...I'm not heartless. I mean who wouldn't want to drink beer and watch Top Gear?

Ok I have babbled enough.

9 SPOTS LEFT IN THE BREW SWAP AS OF 8AM CST 3/1/06!

Take a look at the participant list. Gotta be someone you know on there. Ask them to tag along as a guest. Or pick up a 6 pack of whatever to bring and just give it out.

Bottom line is I'm not going to keep you from hanging out with us. You are welcome to be there. But see if I can add you to anyone's name as a guest.

8 spots left as of 7:30am CST 3/2/06. Welcome to our newest participant Roadodendron.

If I may qualify that "whatever". I think anyone bringing a six of Bud Light would likely get strung up by their underwear. I'm not saying not to, because I'd like to see that, frankly, but let it be fair warning. ;-)

There shall be no Jack Bauer techniques used upon anyone bringing normal beer.

The question is, however: Does Bud really count as beer? I mean, its not REALLY beer, is it? Isn't it made with corn rather than the real stuff of barley???

Barley & hops to be exact I grew up smelling it being brewed. Busch beer is made from corn & that tends to be a regional beer so you may not know what it is. I happen to like AB products but then I'm a little prejudiced

They use rice in addition to barley.
