1st Annual Beer Swap?

**UPDATE - Brew Swap is FULL! If you want to me added to the waiting list in case spots open up please email or PM me.**

So after reading about the large quantities of alcohol the MINI community consumes at MOTD I got an idea. Well actually it wasn't my idea. I saw how people were asking others from different areas of the country to bring them some beer.

Me, for example, I miss Yuengling Beer. Now it's in N. & S. Carolina, PA, FL, VA, etc but not here. So I can't get it.

Why don't we organize some type of Beer Swap where we register who we are, what regional beers we are bringing and how much of it. Then we can exchange beer for beer. I know around here Abita is a popular regional beer and recently won an award from MAXIM Magazine for their TurboDog variety. I prefer their Purple Haze beer (and not just because I have a PH MINI).

Anyone think this idea has merit?

Not much for Beer myself...

I am not much for beer myself...

But if you are gonna I would suggest something like this. Keep the alcohol packed away untill after the last run of the day.

I don't want to see any MINI parts attached to that tree!

Have fun but be Careful!

Well it wouldn't be swap and drink immediately. I would plan on bringing the exchanged beers home or enjoying some of them at night when you are at your final destination.

I'll let you know closer to the event and we can work out the details. Much thanks. Any regional beers where you are that you can bring?

I'm in Maryland but don't know much about beer, just that I prefer Yuengling over all the rest. Okay, I've had some Weisbeer from Germany that was pretty good as well. If you know of any Maryland beer you want, just let me know.

Ok so far:

Me: Abita (Various types)
Red Ryder: Red Oak or Carolina Blonde
CSAMF: Some beer from Maryland (we'll work that out)

Can anyone reading this hook us up with that Sea Dog Blue Paw from Maine that Ryder mentioned?

sndwave and I will be bringing Yuengling in several flavors! LOL! I like 'em all! But since we're meeting Lotsie early in the week, cannot guarantee how much will be left by Thursday!

Hey Clo, think we can use your cabin as the official beer swap location on Thursday night perhaps? I'm going to get Pat to bring me some Yuengling Lager for me and some Black&Tan for my Mom.

So MINI5280 at the official MINI5280 Party Cabin

says that we will host the Friday evening "Beer Festival". Here are the rules:
  • Anyone is welcome
  • Everyone is welcome
  • BYOB to share
That's it. We will be decorated ( we will win that contest ) so it will be easy to find...

JPS

Hon, like I have posted many times, the MKO/OT Headquarters, Cabin 429, will be open every afternoon at 4 PM for happy hour(s). Thursday sounds great! Fine by me! It will be a casual, fun, and very well-catered cabin. I am a food nut. You are welcome to make the beer-swap at our cabin!

I won't be coming from Texas, but my fav is Shiner Bock, so I can bring some of that. Any chance we could get some kind of beer tasting at the ber swap so people don't swap for something they won't like?

I'm all over the Sea Dog Blue Paw. This is a great idea! We could even do it mix and match style, so that we each end up with a smattering (great word) of different beers. A cross-country varietal 12-pack, if you will.

Hey, Chrisnl

Are you bringing the Blue Paw, or going to help me drink it? I actually smuggled a six-pack, back on the plane when I came back from vacation in maine. We need to find some MINI Maine-iacs. Any Mainers out there, coming to the Dragon.

I know they sell Sea Dog ales here in Boston, so I'm pretty sure I can find the Blue Paw if I look around. Sea Dog has a wheat beer that Trader Joe's sells that I'm a big fan of.

Being originally from Asheville/Morristown you bet the water affects how that stuff tastes!!!!

Being from the mountains of NC (Highlands), I can tell you that water has an effect, but the pipes, and what you "start" the batch with means a lot more. I learned where the stills were, whose shine was good and whose to avoid. Nothing cures good shine like a peach.

We can share these stories at the Dragon. I will share over beer, I've passed on the shine.
