Hey, jsouz, I'd also love a Moose Drool sticker, if you don't mind setting one aside. I'd hate to see a fight break out over them. :-)

Matt, definitely looking forward to this event! I'm a little concerned about the confluence of chili and beer, however. I might need to add a fan to my packing list... ;-)

If I attend this, how much beer should I bring to swap?

Yeah I was thinking I'd better bring a room deodorizer. Beer & Chili could be a deadly combination.

Well first let me say you need to attend this event. You like beer right? Of course you do so you need to be here. Besides, I'll be giving away a custom engraved Whalen Shift **** so if you drive a manual trans and have the stock ****....well it could be your lucky day!

Ok so how much should you bring. My suggestion is that you bring as much beer as you'd like to leave with. So if you want to leave the swap with 24 different beers then bring 24 beers to trade.

But if you want to bring just a 6 pack then just bring a 6 pack. No minimum quantity to participate.

Welcome back to the States.

I've got you on the list and you'll be on the website momentarily.

No requests here...never had any true german beer.

Hi guys...now that it appears I am actually going to make the Dragon this year, I would like to participate. Unfortunately, our local brew pub doesn't bottle yet so my local beer selection would be limited to those produced by Coors. Blue Moon is the only thing produced there that I would actually consider bringing. I promise I won't bring any Zima (unless for some strange reason it is requested!).

I will take a look at the request list when I get a little more time. I am sure I can find something. Are we including imports in this? I have a couple of imports I am looking for that aren't distributed locally.

Sorry if any of this has been covered before. I promise I will catch up on the thread!!!

You can put me down for a Large t-shirt too!!

Hey Vargasgirl,

You can check out http://beermapping.com/us-brewery-map to see what other breweries may be lurking in your area. May be able to find something after all.

Any beer is welcome but I think we'd all like to see something we can't typically find. So I guess the question is are the imports you mention found everywhere or no? Either way you can bring what ever you want.

Be sure to check out the Brew Swap website, http://passatdotd.tripod.com/brewswap.html, and scroll to the bottom to order a shirt. You have until April 5th to order a shirt. They won't be sold at the event.

Also, email me at matthewrohrbach@gmail.com and give me your name and email.

Thanks
Matt

Except for Great Lakes, I can't think of any local brewery who offers bottled beer. I believe Crooked River is closed. Any requests for Ohio beers, or any other oddballs, such as maybe some Victory Golden Monkey?

Maybe I can whip up a batch of wheat in time for this. :-P

Where are you in Ohio? According to the beer map (link in my previous post) there are a lot of breweries in Ohio.

If you can make that homebrew in time by all means bring that!

Never heard of Victory Golden Monkey.

http://www.kcider.com
It all starts in England where ripe and juicy apples are crushed and fermented to a 12.5% alcohol level. The cider is then shipped to our cidery in Naples, NY for bottling. The finished product is then delivered to our distributor partners around the country.

Don’t get all excited—it’s not like it’s made to order. K in the United Kingdom is both 8.4% and 6%. The 8.4% product is the original K recipe and was introduced in England during the late 1980’s along with several bad hair bands. The 6.9% product was developed and launched in 2000 with several bad hair band TV biographies. Currently, 8.4% and 6% K is manufactured and available only in the U.K.

Hey guys & gals,

The brew swap website has been updated. The participant list has been shuffled to group everyone by where they come from (i.e. all the PA people are in order). I also added web links for every Brewer I could find. Only a couple did not have websites.

If you want more info about the beers being brought I suggest you click on those links and read the descriptions from the Brewer's website. Some good stuff is coming to this thing.

I'm just getting to work on hitting up the Brewers for freebies. So far a few have responded favorably.

As usual if you need anything or have any ideas let me know.

Matt

Ok, I've been thinking about how we're going to be missing the drive-in movie (at least, I think that's the plan, right?); if I could arrange a projector of some kind, would anyone be interested in having something like Top Gear episodes running in the background, or would that be too distracting? I'm on a serious Top Gear kick, right now. :-)

I believe the proper response would be...ahem, hell yeah.

I freaking love that show and rarely am I able to catch it on TV. If it's on at a regular time someone please tell me. Even my wife digs it, mainly due to the accents and sarcasm.

If need be I can bring my aiwa stereo from my office to run the sound.

That'd be pretty cool. The ol' PowerBook only puts out so many dbs, but with the external display adapter and a set of speakers, we'd be in pretty good shape. Y'know, projectors go missing from the conference rooms all the time... (*pinky-to-lip*) Seriously, I'll see what I can do *without* committing a felony.

I don't bother with cable TV in the US for Top Gear (mainly because I don't *have* a TV, but we've already been there...); Final Gear has torrents for *many* TG episodes. I've got all of season 7 downloaded and a select batch of others that I've heard are good. They're ripped straight from the BBC's broadcasts and have neither commercials nor edits to remove commentary offensive to Yanks.

JC: "Aston Martin DB9. That's not a racing car, that's just pornography."

I have every episode from Season 1 through 7, also 1989-1992 (old format). I also have almost every episode of Fifth Gear from Season 4-8.

Plus almost every Jeremy Clarkson Video including Car Years and MotorWorld.

Steve

If you bring all of them Steve, we will have to be down there for a month. Brining copious amounts of BEER with a plethora of "chips n' dips....
then staying sober for a week then run the Dragon...

So what type of dirty deed will I need to perform to get copies of your Top Gear collection Steve??? Do you have them transferred to dvd? I'll gladly send you the dvds if you could burn them for me.

On a different note....Can I begin to tell you how difficult it is getting past some of these Brewery telephone operators? Here's a typical call...

Me: Hi, can I speak with your marketing department?

Them: Umm, maybe, why are you calling?

Me: Want to help them promote their beer at a national event where we'll be tasting and sampling their beer.

Them: What do you want??

Me: *sigh*

Seriously though they are a PITA. I've spoken to 19 breweries today. Mixed results. We'll see if any send what they say they will.

Woah, Matt; that's going *way* above and beyond!

Er, what exactly do you want? I owe the owner of the Ithaca Beer Company a call, so I can take that one off your plate, if you like. :-)

I'd have to say the good breweries are the small ones, so I can picture you talking to the chief bottle washer/CEO and he or she being somewhat wary.

If you call Michigan Brewing Co. ask for Tim Morton and tell him Paul Nolte sent you.

Squirlz, I talked to Michigan already and yeah they knew you.

The very nice operator there said they could probably send stuff and was going to deliver the message personally to the guy that would do it. Said I should expect a return call. They're real busy now she said due to moving into a new brewery.

Blalor, I also spoke to Ithaca already. Sort of. The sales guy and owner were out but the chief bottle washer took my name and number and said he'd give them the message. Feel free to call yourself and tie it in with my call. If they want to give you the stuff to bring down that's fine. Yard's Brewery is going to send stuff with the Helix guys. Just get it to me when ever you arrive at the Brew Swap so I can line up how to give it out. May want to tell me in advance what they give you. Or you can just tell them to send it to me.

This is probably my only time attending MOTD in the next 5 years so since I can't be at this Brew Swap event after this year I want to make this one as awesome as I can, hence all the calling. It'll be worth it.

But one of you guys is going to have a standard to live up to next year to put this thing on.

In Ohio, I'd love it if you could find anything from Thirsty Dog brewery, especially a dark beer called Siberian Night...great stuff! Also, are you able to find anything by Three Floyds Brewery? And anyway, I like Great Lakes' stuff too. Is there anything you'd might be interested from out here on "the island?" or NE area?

Apop is like the request master. Founders, AleSmith and now the rest of those listed below.

Let me know if you can handle any of that Blue.
