I do a lot of driving at night on two lane highways, the stockhids do a hell of a job on low beam but the highs seem to be a little lack luster. Good general brightness but not focused down the road.
I'm looking at going with factory style rally lights, found a deal for $550 for the lights, brackets, grill, harness and knee switch, before I drop all that I wanted to see what people that have then think?
On a side note does anyone have the new led rally lights? Are they worth the premium?
Seen more and more ppl put led light bar on their CMS. I saw a couple of reviews on light bars that are spotlights and has a nice focused beam. I was wondering why use a switch and not just tap it into the fog lights?
I've seen several people using led light bars, and I've considered it as well. I just don't care for them as much ascetically. I like the look of the round driving lights over the bar.
As for tapping into the fog lights, it would render the fog lights useless during times of fog. I would imagine you'd have some serious glare with the auxiliary lighting on in the fog.

Having already done research on the LED bars this is what I found.
1) you get what you pay for. Pay the few extra dollars for quality.
2) They are no use in rain or snow. The reflected light back is so bad it's blinding.
So... the answer is no.. they aren't worth it. Now I know I have a wiring issue somewhere, if the lights are on and I press the switch the lights will come on regardless of if the high beams are on or not. Aside from that these lights just aren't very bright. I even went out and got silverstar bulbs to try and squeeze some extra power out of them and it didn't help at all.

I've considered that I might of had a bad ground so I moved my ground wire and it didn't make any difference. Can anyone chime in? Shouldn't 55w bulbs at least be visible over the low beams?!
I've corrected my wire issue, and it made a marked improvement. You can actually see the extra light even with the high beams on now. I'll take new photos tonight and post them up. As for the beam pattern, I just threw the lights on yesterday in between the baby's nap, hence my missing what the instructions said about the wiring, but they haven't been adjusted yet at all. I still need to align them. Hopefully it won't be so all over the place once they are aimed
For the Dragon, I run a custom made light bar with 4 driving lights, 100 watt/each, hooked into my high beam. This turns night into day! (Pairs of lights hooked thru relays and switches too.) I will never run the Dragon at night without them!

Reason: Forgot night
Looks really good. We have the grille lights on both our R53 and R56. If they didn't come with it, it was one of the first tech articles we did. Glad you went with them and think it was worth it.

The factory LED are very nice, but because they are super bright LEDs , they can reflect too much somtimes, but great for clear dark nights. Some people have covered the OEM rally lights in yellow Lamin X to help this in both halogen version and LED version. I run yellow fogs in the lower and i can tell the difference.
You get the lights set # 1 , which come with the covers
