Wow. Had no idea installation fees would vary by that much! I'd also say that if you're going to DIY your mp3 adapter anyway, you should go for the ice link plus, no? interested to hear what you're thinking about.

As for the extended maintenance, I'd heard that the longer you have your car between now and when the three years are up, the higher the maintenance cost goes. Can anyone speak to this? (I'll ask my dealer when I pick up the car...)

The owners lounge says my car is at the vehicle distribution center and Ask Mini said it was in transit. I am hoping they mean the car is in transit to the dealer . What's the status on your car?

You know, my MA suggest DICE. I have read about both. More about DICE than ice link. Adding that mod is about 5th on my list. As I get closer to doing it, I will give it much more thorough research. I just couldn't believe that set labor cost that the MINI dealer was charging. However, I think that we need to pick our SA. I spoke to a new SA about adding the JCW package at the dealership. We spoke about retail, then we discussed a discount. The first SA I spoke to when getting a quote for the ipod adapter was a butt. No reason to pay for more than an hr to an hr and a half for labor for the ipod adapter.

Updates...let's see. I talked to my MA late last week, when I saw that it had arrived at the port--Boheme landed on Thursday--and he said that even though the dealership is close to NYC, it often takes a little while to get out of the VDC. OL says that it's still undergoing quality control checks, but I'd think that it should be out of there soon. Maybe today or tomorrow??

Of course, I'm still dealing with trying to sell my car. The first person to see it wanted it (good), gave me a deposit of half the asking price (Very Good!), and then asked about the title. Um...title. Right. I can't find the title (Very, Very Bad!). Have now spent the entire weekend ripping apart my house (locking myself out in the process!), and still can't find the d*** title! So now I have to wait for a new one from the DMV to arrive. Whoops.

Yeah, the DICE looks good, and I've also heard interesting things about the Harman Kardon adaptor. Not sure how many people have actually installed that one yet...

It can take up to 7 days, mine landed in SC on the 5th and it is about 3-1/2 to 4 hour drive to my dealer from SC port. My car is suppose to arrive at my dealer today, 11th.

At the VDC they have to clean all the cosmoline off of your baby and do checks on electronics and other systems such as a/c and what not.

Also...car trucks do not leave until they are full so hopefully there are alot of mini's/other cars going to your area, that should help speed things up.

Wow! Lots of ships are docking this week it seems! I can't wait to hear about everyone's delivery experiences and see pictures!

Yesterday I had my first hill lesson on the manual in my bf's pickup truck. It's hard enough learning something new knowing that I don't want to break anything, but even worse when the vehicle is completely different from what you're used to! I learned stick on a car that was similar to the one I just sold, and had only driven his truck once or twice before. Let's just say, sitting up high does not help me at all!! I stalled a bunch of times . And for some reason I was having a tough time finding 3rd in his truck (never had that problem with the car I learned on, or the MINI the one time I test drove). When I did actually get going on the hill, I didn't have much rollback though (no handbrake in the truck). Just gotta practice more...

I know there was some discussion about financing here, too. I just confirmed that my credit union is giving me a rate of 4.9% for 60 mos or less. Shopping around can really pay off!!

What programmable options is everyone asking for? I am planning on having the daytime running lights activated, I think everthing else is fine the way it is. I'm not sure if I want the car to autolock when moving, I think that could be annoying, even though it is safer..

More clearbra talk

Okay, so I just heard from the "delivery manager" from my MINI dealership...anyone else talk to one of those? He's checking on a couple of things, but told me that the "ChipGuard" they use is applied to the front bumper, front half of the hood (including MCS scoop), mirror caps, and door edge guard.

Ukhan: did the $560 you were quoted include all that?

I'm still trying to figure out if they're charging too much. lol. A number of you have even mentioned accessories credits, while my MA is acting as if there's no wiggle room in the prices. Help! Any advice? Anyone??? (Pathetic how desperate I am, isn't it?)

LOL. I'm glad I'm not the only one who checked all day until I saw it unloaded.

Don't know how fast they go, but for me: The Boheme docked early in the morning of the 7th, and the WW site didn't show it as discharged until 22:36. So it didn't come off until 10:30 PM. Sorry!

FYI: My dealer quoted the same price as yours for the driving/rallye lamps.

I am new here. And I am reading all your posts. I ordered my mini on 7/24 -- at least that's the date I put down my deposit. The last I heard from my dealer was that it was on the ship on 9/1 and expected to arrive in US on 9/15. Does anyone else have that same date/time spread? From hitting the states, about how long is it supposed to be to get to my dealer (in Houston)? I saw a posting on here that gave detailed steps on how to track your mini and when I went to the shipping company website and put my VIN in the auto cargo ID box, it said NOTHING. I thought VIN numbers were 16 digits. Mine has 17. I'm losing patience also, and obsessively check where's my mini on a multiple times per day basis.....

Welcome! It sounds like your MINI might be on a ship that is with a different company and thus untrackable (that's why the VIN isn't showing up on the WW site). There are a few of us, me included, that are in the same position. My car also supposedly is on a ship that left 9/1 headed to Charleston. It may be the same ship, but without the ship name, we don't know.

As far as how long it takes to get to Houston, I really don't know about that since I am in NC.

Hang in there, it won't be long now!

I think this makes you the first of our crew to get the word...

Of course, I'm insanely jealous... I'm on the slow boat to Charleston, due on the (14th? 15th?)...

Send pictures!

Hooray!

My MINI is at the dealer!
None of the "smilies" are ecstatic enough...
I don't know how it happened. Gertrude was supposed to be on the Boheme, then showed up on Integrity. According to WW site, she was on Integrity. But then how could she get to Boston one day after arriving?
Now I know that car is going to be a sneaky one... I'll have to watch her every second.
Hope everyone else is pleasantly surprised, too, and soon experiences that face-creasing, idiot grin that appears on your face when the MA calls

Thanks for the congrats, crazypoet! I'll most definitely send pics--we go to pick it up tonight, and I'm bringing the digicam. Am totally thrilled (totally, completely, utterly thrilled) and can't wait for the rest of you to pick up yours so we can compare notes! And it begins...wheee!!!!!!!

Just one question: Is it strange that, in some odd way, I'm also petrified???

I think part of this is the knowledge that I'm about to put down an amount of money on my new green-and-white baby that, in another part of the country, would buy nearly half a house!
