Actually, I think that part is surprisingly accurate. The est. delivery time means that it's been released from the VDC and should be on it's way to your dealer. You never know...it could even arrive today! (Mine listed 9/14 as the estimated delivery date, too, and it ended up at the dealer the morning following its release, 9/12.)

You guys must be going through the VDC more quickly...that's awesome!! Wonder if there was an issue with my car that required a longer inspection?

Oh, and a hearty congrats to rosarugosa!

Congrats to everyone taking delivery in the next few days! I can't wait for the pictures to start rolling in!

Lyrebard, I too have that same anxious excitement/fear feeling. I'm sure it will turn to pure joy once you're behind the wheel!

My OL said delivery was suppose to be on 9/10 but im actully getting it on 9/13. (today after 4pm) I think it all depends on your location, and how many other cars are headed to your area, because i do know that car carriers dont leave the car yards until they are full. But then again the OL could be right, i know Katherine got her MINI with blazing fast speed! almost a week before everyone else in week 33.

I do hope everyone gets their MINI's soon, the wait gets terrible knowing the mini dealer could be calling you to come pick up your MINI any day. make sure to post pics when you all get your MINI's!!!

Ya, delivery time really does vary. My MINI got in 9-9, but the dealer only called yesterday to say that I can pick up either tomorrow or Friday. That is a five day wait between when it got here and when I can pick it up, so....

He's home!

Picked him up a few hours ago, and the drive home was a blast. Of course, the hardest part was keeping it under 4500 RPM. Totally goofy, but I wore a green sweater with racing stripes...just so he knew that I spoke his language.

Here's a pic in my gallery of me and my matching MINI (just too funny not to post!):

And one of my MCS with his new friend (look closely at the roof) from the MINI dealership:

[EDIT] ok, i tried to insert pics into the post, and they just kept disappearing! so just the links for now...

Congratulations!

Yay!
Great pix, Lyrebard, love the coordinating clothing.
Did your dealer give you the bulldog as a gift? I have been pining away for one. I need one because my regular, drooling, flesh and blood dogs are not going to be allowed in the MINI! They have 2 other vehicles to demo.

Yep, my MA sent me home with him. Cute, ain't he? My MA was the best! Took care of all my silly little requests with no questions asked, and still sent me home feeling as if I was his favorite customer.

All on the African Highway, she's in port in SC and working to unload her began at 8am according to the website. It shouldn't be long now for all of us waiting....

Wow, Spring, you must be on that site like a hawk . I was just on there about half an hour ago and it wasn't showing that the African Highway had come in yet. Yippee! Our MINI's have reached US soil! It won't be long now!

thanks! just couldn't resist pulling that sweater off the shelf, lol.

haven't yet named him...am waiting for just the right fit. so far the closest we've come is Wally (as in wally the green monster, for all you red sox/fenway park fans), jasper, and for some odd reason: herman. they're all super close, just not sure which (if any of them) will take.

oh, and YAY!!! for the African Highway and Integrity arrivals.

I'm not familiar with the red sox/fenway reference, but I also think Wally is a great name. For some reason, I think it well suits a BRG/W.

Still not sure on a name for mine...maybe Guinness? It is my favorite brew after all! Hmm..

Fenway park has a huge green wall that's called the Green Monster. The mascot for the team is a big green monster, named Wally. And he's got a bit potbelly! (I love him!)

Guinness would be perfect, especially if your AB MC has a white roof!!!

Ha Ha! That is what I was figuring about the wall, but I didn't know about Wally. For me, you description alone would seal the deal. I think Wally is a super cute name - of course, it's completely up to you and you know you're MINI best haha!

Yes, my AB will have a white roof!

Just curious, since BRG is also a dark yet deep color, have you picked out detailing supplies yet? I'm just not sure whether I want to go with a synthetic or carnauba?? I'm only familiar with carnauba waxes since that's what I've always used, but curious to see what everyone else is using on the dark colors since I've not had a dark car.

You know, I've never had a car that needed detailing! (All my others up to this point have been beaters -- they were a blast to drive, but not the kind of cars that would have benefited much from quality wax.)

Am very interested to hear what solution you come up with. Have you looked elsewhere on the site? Does there seem to be any kind of consensus?

I LOVED keeping my old car looking as good as possible, just the challenge of taking it from dirty yuck to shiny kept me happy. It was no MINI or hot rod (Pontiac Sunfire), but it was my first new car and I tried to keep it new for as long as possible (nine years ).

The detailing forum has so far done nothing more than make me completely confused and indecisive. Everyone has their opinion and each person strongly leans one way or another. So you end up with a lot of very positive reviews of all of the best products!! I think it just ends up coming down to personal preference.

I'm thinking more and more than I'm just going to stick with what I know - natural carnauba for a deep, wet glossy look (supposedly good for bringing out the depth of the dark colors, according to Detailing 101, this may be the only consensus!). Apparently the synthetic products are more "plasticky" looking, but you don't have to apply as often. I'll probably just try to find a better quality wax, get one of those grit guard thingys and some better quality application cloths.

Well, I hope you're having fun motoring! The rest of us will try to live vicariously through you until ours arrive!
