Hey UKHAN24, I just went to the WW Cargo Tracking site and low and behold our COOPER is on the Integrity as well. Looks like we may see our cars around mid-September.

Oh well. I checked the VINs on the Integrity and my car is not on it. Thanks for the help ukhan24. I know my status changed to "En Route" 9/01 so I just will have to be happy knowing that my car is on a boat on its way.

What port is yours going to, pqw5uQ3r? My poor MINI is going on week #2 sitting at Southampton. Everything still indicates that it has not been loaded on a boat so far . I have been dreaming of it, and I'm getting a little tired of being chauffeured around since I sold my car.

Here's hoping something changes tomorrow!

I see that the Mignon is at port in Southampton, scheduled for departure today. Anyone make it on there? So far my VIN still isn't showing up.

doodlez,
Looks like you and I are still in the same boat (the no Boat). I was hoping for a change on OL this morning and still nothing. Have you checked with your MA? I'm still waiting on a reply from mine. Trying to be optimistic and thinking that our cars are on one of the 2 boats coming into SC this week...

My MA told me on Friday in an email that the car has in fact been sitting at the port and is still awaiting a vessel along with several other cars going to the same dealership. He didn't offer an explanation as to why it hasn't gotten on the two ships going to Charleston that have come and gone since it's been sitting there.

Today marks the 6th week since I placed my order. If the car doesn't make it onto a ship this week, there's no way I'll get it within the 6-8 week timeframe they claimed it would take from order to delivery. If I had known that the car would be sitting around for two weeks, I probably would have waited to sell my car. Oh, well, what can we do??

To try to keep my mind off of it (ha! that's impossible) I've been researching detailing products. Hopefully your MA will respond soon and maybe give you some good news!

My MA Told me...

(Wasn't there a MoTown song that started with that phrase? But I digress...)

I got an e-mail from my MA this morning, telling me that my MINI is due to arrive in-port on the 14th. I'm still not seeing anything on the WW tracking site, based on my VIN, so I'm assuming that I'm on a stealth ship.

Also, the MINI webpage still shows me as "Awaiting Transport", rather than "En Route"

I guess I'll just have to keep practising my self-control for another couple of weeks...

One question for the crowd: My MA told me that I could expect delivery within six to eight weeks after the build date. It looks like others were told six to eight weeks after their order date... What did your MA tell you??? Enquiring minds and all that...

When i first went to the Dealer he had no cars on the lot, It was on July 23rd.... He told me if i placed the order I would get my car around Late august or early september... However, during that time he wasn't aware of the 2 week factory shutdown. I did do the timing wise and looks like my MA was right... if there wasn't any shutdown i would have recieved my car already but that just pushed off my dilvery date 2 weeks later...

Im hoping my delivery date will be sometimes next week...
IM asssuming around thrsday or friday
but There is another boat that is leaving Today and well give the WW site 24 hours untill it registers...

Doddles and Spring, I really tink ur car is on a Ghost ship because there is no way there going to let the cars sit there like that... there loosing lots of money as someone already stated... IM sure its right now on its way in the middle of the ocean as we speak

but you guys are doing great, this wait is killin me... I cna't get desent sleep and cause of the desperate wait i have goten so sick lol i have goten cold cause Here in NY the weather is chaning

anyways good luck ya alll

Hey everyone, thanks for the hopeful words for SpringMinifan and me! I am definitely hoping and hoping and hoping that our cars are on a ghost ship and our MA's are just out to lunch.

I too haven't been getting very good sleep. I keep having various dreams about the car, delivery, financing, etc.

Which reminds me to ask: have you all secured your financing yet? I got pre-approval from my credit union a couple of weeks ago and they said all I have to do is fax them a copy of the buyer's order and they will send a check. I am just wondering how far in advance I should do this?

So, who has already named their MINI's? I am trying to come up with a name for mine and I'm having a tough time. My SO says "Cruella" as in DeVille from 101 Dalmations because of the AB/W color, but it's just not doing it for me. Another suggestion was "Thriller" (as in Michael Jackson), which is OK, but I'm still not fully sold on that either. So I was wondering if anyone else has already picked out a name and how you decided on it.

And what kinds of detailing products are you guys planning to get for your new babies? I have always been mildly obsessive about keeping my old car washed and waxed (I used to wax it about once a month!), so I think it will probably escalate into a bigger obsession with the MINI. Just wondering what you all have decided on for yours.

doodlez,
In the past I've also used Credit unions and what mine have done is fax them the buyers order and they overnite a check payable to the dealer. You know, you have some negotiating power with that check in hand and you can tell the finance dept at Mini to beat your credit union rate and they normally can and will. If you do this, then you have to advise the Credit union, you didn't buy the vehicle and they should advise you to destroy the check. My Mini is nameless also and I can't even begin to think of names...

If your status has changed to 'in transit' or 'en route' you are on a mystery boat like I am

I'm a week 33'er, but I think mine is on a K-Line ship that is due to arrive in Charleston the 7th...

Really, don't worry... WW is only one of the shipping lines used and is the only trackable one...

Hey mini-mine, thanks for the info! Problem is, the status is still "awaiting transport" (Owner's Lounge) or "at the dock waiting for a shipping vessel, no further shipping info is available" (ASK MINI). It's been like that for almost two weeks now. How long did yours sit at the port before the status changed???

Wow, the 7th is only 2.5 days away!!! I'll be checking week 33 to see your pictures when you get it!

Hey doodlez,

My OL account said that same thing, and ASK MINI said simply "in transit," when I got a call from my MA saying my MINI was on their lot. So don't lose hope yet

Mine got to the port on the 16th of Aug. and presumably shipped out the 24th-ish if it is getting in on the 7th... So about a week or so... However, my info didn't update until around the 28th or something, so it FELT like longer... maybe your is on a boat, but it just hasn't updated yet...

Yeah, I can't believe it's almost here! MA says delivery probably next weekend (16th)

The OL is horribly slow in updating. Mine still said awaiting transport when my car was halfway across the atlantic. (i was tracking it on sailwx.info) It finally updated after about 4-6 days of sailing. My OL has always been about 3-5 days behind the actul process of my MINI.

Do not go by what the OL says.

Katherine, Stella looks great! What is her full spec? Any sage advice you can give to those of us still waiting on the whole purchase/delivery transaction? Like what to look for, surprises, things you didn't expect, etc? Also, noticed that you got bonnet stripes (presumably installed at the dealer) and I'm wondering if that delayed your delivery at all.

Yes, the OL is basically useless. Thanks a bunch of giving us some insight from those that came before us . It's comforting to hear everyone's different experiences - helps us from feeling like we're all by our lonesome!

I thought about MINI Select also, but decided that since I plan to keep the car for a long time, I wanted to finance everything at once. With the balloon, I would be responsible for that amount at the end of the term (either pay in full or finance the rest). I think it's a great option if you can save in the meantime and pay the balloon in full at the end. Personally, that kinda scared me, so I'm doing your typical 60 month loan and hope to pay it off early.

I personally got great advice from my father that credit unions almost always have the best rates. Check with the company or sector you work for to see if there is a credit union that serves you (for example, I am a Federal employee and there are several credit unions for us Feds). Some local credit unions only require that you live locally to join. However, they almost always require that you open an account to give you the good rates - usually you can open a savings account with a nominal ($5-$25) deposit.

Another alternative that I have heard people mention is Capital One. They offer a 'blank cheque' auto loan that means they will approve a rate for you and send you a blank check. The you determine how much you actually need to finance. You can find rates on their website and even apply online. I am sure there are other sites out there like this as well, but I'm not sure.

The one thing I am curious about, is when the loan starts: is it when they send the check or when the check is actually cashed? I wouldn't want to get everything set up and have the delivery of my car be delayed and end up making payments on something I don't even have yet.

Hey doodlez -

Thanks! The bonnet stripes were supposed to be factory installed, but luckily I checked up with my MA to be sure and it turned out that Stella came without them. My MA called at about 2:00 in the afternoon August 30th to let me know she had just arrived on their lot and my stripes and clear bra were installed and she was ready to go by 6:00 the night of the 31st. So there was really no delay.

Stella's full spec:

HB/W '06 MC
premium, cold pkgs
white bonnet stripes
15" delta spokes
leatherette
sport seats
aux. input

That's pretty much it, she's pretty basic. As far as delivery goes, I was surprised at how quick it was. My MA gave me a chance to look at her myself, then took me through and showed me how everything worked, etc. She gave me the owner's manual and told me what to keep handy in case of emergency. Then she whisked me off to finance while she gas'ed up Stella and took off the God-awful huge cupholder in front (I hate that thing). I was in finance for maybe 15 minutes and when I came back out, there she was, ready to go! It was really very pleasant, quick, and efficient. She only had 7 miles on her

The only issue I had was with the front driver's seat, the little bit of exposed leatherette. I'm just glad I noticed it and brought it to my MA's attention so that if there are ever any further issues, it's clear that it came that way before I ever took delivery. So be sure to take your time and look at everything on your new baby to be sure that things are in order.

It won't be too much longer for you guys! I can't wait to see pics

No problem! I'm happy to field any questions you guys may have about the whole process as I've experienced it.

The clear bra was quoted by the dealer, they said they had someone local that they used. It was $699 for the bonnet, front bumper and both mirrors, and it has a lifetime warranty in case of peeling, discoloration, etc. I thought it was a pretty good deal, and I'm already glad I got it - a big yellow bug splat landed right on my white stripe! However, instead of staining, it wiped right off of the clear bra
