Well since the car hasn't even gone into production the specs can be changed to something they can sell easier. I don't know what I'm going to do. I can borrow the muscle car.... but will I just hate this car by the time it gets here for all the hassle?

ASK MINI gave me week 34 and then.... nope, for some reason you are now bumped to.... hmmm.... well ma'am they put down week 37 but it looks like that will change and you are looking at a late September, maybe October production date.... Ok folks... my six to eight weeks turned into....sixteen weeks at least. I would have never ordered if I had known this because I need a car before then.

Grrrr... I will be without transportation in a week. Granted, I can borrow my son-in-law's restored '72 Cutlass.... but gas cost?? and parking issues in the city??? eeek! I won't be going many places in a muscle car (as cool as it looks)

Can you get your money back if you've put a down payment down on the car? My husband is saying we need a car now and might not be able to wait for this MINI to be built. *sigh* I do see his point. It just stinks.
I agree... they get you committed and then create uncertainty for a while before they drop the bomb. We actually ordered on 27 June initially but because of the BS from the dealership in not giving us a date we cancelled and went to another dealership who promised us a Week 31 Production Date. Surprise, Surprise, the factory was closed both Weeks 31 and 32 so no MINI... Bottom line, we continue to wait along with everyone else. I cannot say this has been a positive experience.

BTW, we were able to get our deposit back from the first dealer. I would think you should be ableto get yours back as well given the delays in production.

I have avoided calling ASK MINI so far this week (not easy to abstain, but trying anyway) for fear of getting similar news that the timeline has been pushed back.
I called ASK MINI twice yesterday and embarassingly enough, on the 2nd call, got the same rep on the phone - he remembered me from the first time I called I suppose sometimes being obsessive isn't a good thing!

WHICH of the two Houston dealer's did you go through?!?! I'd be shocked if it was MINI of the Woodlands, but wouldn't really be surprised if it was Momentum... If it is a case of the latter, I'm sorry, and you really should have gone to MOTW - they will take care of you... I was told 6-8 weeks delivery from the time of PRODUCTION not from the time of order, and since production started July 24th and is done today (woopee!) it is right on track to be within that timeframe. Maybe you mis-understood or the MA told you wrong... Sorry you have to go through this!

I'll see if I can find the forum, and post a link.

Found it - here's the link: http://my.athenet.net/~mtr/mini/shade/
Somehow I missed this post - thanks so much, crazypoet!

All part of the friendly, and usually confused, service!

I'm hoping that one of the aftermarket vendors takes this up - anyone with a MINI and a sunroof will be most grateful - particularly those of us in the sunbelt....

Just another day............WAITING...

Well, I just called ASK MINI and was advised that mine started production at 6:21am this morning. I was previously advised I was in Week 34 (Aug 21) but now it appears things are moving along, sooner rather than later.. They also informed me that completion is expected to be Aug 31st, thats a full 2 weeks in Production, I seem to recall seeing that reference elsewhere, so hopefully what they are telling me is true... The Owners lounge is still "On Order", so I think it's ASK MINI from this point forward...

21 aug production

i'm also week 34. I was told 21 aug production, then 7-9 days transporting. I assumed that meant add 1 week and it should be at the dealer end of first week in Sept?

Yippee!

It sounds like the factory shutdown isn't causing too many headaches... I just called, and my baby is in production, scheduled to be completed on the 23rd.

Is everyone else getting the same sorts of time-lines?

any cabrios getting week 34??

The production dates of another Week 33er (psychedoc, I believe) and I (8/17 & 8/18) were bumped post the factory reopen back to 8/31. This doesn't seem to be happening broadly though as week 33's are rolling off on schedule and seems that 34 is coming along as well.

One common feature for us, both MCSC's. Not conclusive, but perhaps the soft top portion of the body shop is taking a bit longer - or maybe I'm completely off target. Any cabrios with an update? SpringMini - looks like we're in the same boat as well...

Glad to hear that the y'all are getting the week 34 completion dates and production is getting started on time. The wait is brutal!

Hurray,

I just spoke to (866) ASK MINI and our MINI entered production today with a completion date of 24 August. Does that make her a Week 33 or Week 34 car?

Cgarber...I agree on the wait being brutal....If it's any consolation. I just heard from my MA and he's confirmed what I'd previously been told by ASK MINI that mine has started yesterday, so thats good.. I would think "ours" would get done sooner, as theres less to paint...hahhaha

Time Warp

Waiting for a MINI is like entering the Twilight Zone: I placed my order on 7/25, and although it has only been 3.5 weeks, it feels like I've been waiting for at least two months!

So, I know I'm really getting ahead of myself since I only just found out that the car should be completed on 8/22, but has anyone heard anything about average time from completion to delivery? I know there are many factors that can vary the timeframe, but I just need a ballpark so I can coordinate selling my current car.

TGIF by the way!

Since you live on the east coast (as do I), here's what I have gathered:

- once completed, your car goes to the docks where it's booked for a boat; can take up to three days (so says ASK-MINI)
- voyage from England to east coast is about 2 weeks
- your car goes from England to either to NY, NY or Charleston, SC and from there is at the VDC; depends here on which options you have. If your car's just being checked out, can go by quickly (2 days or so); if you have lots of options/acessories installed, it can take a while longer.
- then the car is put on a truck to you; just depends on where you live as to how long it will take! Then of course your dealer will need time to wash it up, install options if necessary, etc.

Hope that helps!

Production Timeline Info

Hello from PW27SG,

One of our group members, crishchun, developed this spreadsheet that has lots of great info, order dates, ship name, deliver dates, etc.

http://pass16.dizinc.com/~macrofi/PW27SG/index.php

You can sort the information by clicking on the column heading.

I ordered 6/8 and still haven't taken delivery. I'm in Phoenix, AZ though. I've learned that East Coast deliveries are much, much sooner and West is the last (the ships have to cross the Panama Canal).

It has been a little over a month since my MINI left Oxford. I know that it is at Port Hueneme but my MA/the shipping information system doesn't show it is in the VDC yet. Arrrgghh!

My MA said 6-8 months from WAIT LIST (went on that 4/22) to delivery. As of now, I have been waiting 4 months and hopefully the delivery will happen by early next week.

The real BUMMER is that my MA scheduled my delivery for 3 days ago (8/15) but, on returning from vacation, learned the two-day delay at the Panama has left me and my MINI in limbo.

So, I'll be waiting some more and, let me tell you, it's a LOT harder in the final days (and I know that is really difficult to believe).

I just have to rely on my fellow members saying that IT IS WORTH THE WAIT!

I just found out my cabrio finished in the paint shop and entered assembly today. They predict it will finish on Monday so I guess I am now officially week 34. I am in So Cal and the next ship for here leaves on 8/31 and arrives in CA on 9/23 so I am hoping to be on that one.

Red Scooter - Wow, that spreadsheet is great! HPUdrew ordered from the same dealership that I did, so I can get a general idea of how long the voyage took. Thanks a lot! You guys over in PW27SG seem to be very organized!

Welcome to Week 34, psychedoc22! Glad to have yet another addition to our group!

Psychedoc - it seems our cabrios are tagging along together - mine was in the paint shop today as well and should be wrapped up over the weekend.

Finally some progress - I can stop my conspiracy theories...

I have the same exact story. MA says production began yesterday with completion on 8/24. I confirmed this with ASK MINI.

As of 9 AM my mini cabrio is at the dock at Southampton. The next ship to So Cal is due to leave on 8/30 so it's waiting time now.
