That's when my dealership estimated the day I ordered. They said as of the day I ordered (July 21st) they'd have some cars coming on around September 10th. So I'm assuming it'll be after that? And if Stella won't be built until August 15th, it'll take at least another couple of weeks. I don't know, maybe I'm being pessimistic? I just don't want to expect her super early only to face delays.

So yeah, StormBird, that's kinda what I was figuring too.

Are any of you going to request to your dealers to not put your car in their show room? Ive seen peoples cars in the show room with "sold" on them, and the doors unlocked for people to check them out. Ive also read this somewhere else on NAM so it must be a common dealer thing to do. I really dont like the fact of complete strangers getting into my car and checking it out. Especially considering they would be doing it before me, and its MY car! I would like to think that i would be the first person in the car (besides the people who helped build/deliever the car to me)

what do you all think? am i just being a spoiled brat?

Just called ASK MINI again . . . completion date moved up from Aug. 16th to 15th! I know it's not much, but I'm glad it got moved up rather than down - I really want my mini to make it on the boat!!

Mini Mizer - yes, Crown MINI of Richmond does that. I talked to them about it, requesting that people stay OFF my baby (yes, I'm a brat too), and they said that the cars stay out of the show room until the day you pick them up (and then they're locked, etc.). However, the day I ordered my MINI, the cars were unlocked and people were sitting in them. There was even a cabrio with the top down, with a SOLD sign in the windshield. I'd hate to think it was my car; I think I'm just going to tell them not to put it in the showroom at all, even if they do wait til the day I take delivery. You're right - it's YOUR car, and it's a huge purchase!

StormBird - our MINIs have the same date now! Maybe they'll be siblings

Hehe - glad you picked such an awesome color krm4h .

I specified that I would not take possession of the car if it was washed or waxed - my MA seemed pleased since it would be less work for them. This way I can check for scratches and doing the detailing myself AND no one will put it in the showroom (who wants to show off a dusty car??) . . . two birds and all.

Hi, folks,

Week 28er lurking around (still waiting for Logan). Production time is highly dependent on the options you get. More options = longer to produce...

MiniChik - my dealer is South Bay too (MA is Chris Yuseco) - my order was acknowledged into the system July 27 (placed at the end of June) - I was wondering how long after your order was acknowledged that it went into production?

Hey Boneman, great name BTW! My MA is Chris too. He's been great so far. He called me right away to let me know I was in production! Here's what I have for my timeline.

Ordered: May 28
Got Production Number: June 30
Scheduled for Production: July 13
Production Started: July 25

Now by "in the system" do you mean when you received your production number and when you where able to log onto the Owner's Lounge? If so then your timeline is probably very similar to mine. First step was "on order" at the factory, then it was "scheduled for production", then finally they started production at 7:26am, July 25th according to ASK-MINI. I guess to answer your question you've got another 3-4 weeks. Are you getting a MC or MCS? Mine is a MCS but MCs seem to take less time.

The wait is a killer but it gives you plenty of time to learn stuff here and prepare. At least that's what I keep telling myself!

Mine is an MCS - started out as Astro Black, then Chili Red, then back to Astro Black, now we've finally decided on Hyper Blue and are sticking to it. If Carrie at ASK MINI is correct in what she told me today then I will have Lapis Blue leather - other items are:

Premium, Sport, Convenience, Cold Weather
Web Spokes
Chrono Pack
White roof/stripes
Anthracite interior trim

and I'm still contemplating the aerokit which they paint and install at Port Hueneme. I will add the iPod kit and Aux input myself.

I think that 4 more weeks is too early to expect my Mini. . I'm not even convinced that it'll be here in 8 weeks. If mine is not finished until August 17th, then it's going to take 28 days to get here (after it gets on the boat), and then 7-10 days to the dealer. I'm looking at late September, early October for mine.

Sounds nice Boneman!

My only accessories were going to be the alarm and the ipod adapter. I keep wondering if I should try to install the adapter myself or have the dealer do it. Also isn't there a new generation coming out? I wonder if that is something to wait for or not?

Yeah all those days add up. I'm still hoping for mid September though! Cross your fingers, we'll probably be on the same boat!

Ya, most of us in this group (and most likely the next few production weeks) will be affected by the partial plant shutdown, so the time to get the car wlll prob increase a week or two...

I'm not upset though, I purposely planned for mine to be delivered early-to-mid September, and it appears to be right on track!

I can't believe it's August already! Next time the month changes, it will almost be MINI time!

I agree about the wait - it's really not so bad. It works out better for me this way because I have time to sell the car I have now and save up some money to put down. I'm finding out that being a working girl really isn't so glamorous

But yes, it won't be too much longer!

ok...so maaaaybe i am rushing the time line a bit for my mini to arrive. Early to mid Sept' is alot more realistic, but one can always hope!

As for the wait, i am also selling a car i own, but i already have the money in the bank for my down payment. The extra money from selling the car will most likely go towards some mods.

My car for sale: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifie....php?id=331945

It is a very nice car and pretty rare. It was never sold in the US. I hate to see it go but i have too many hobby cars with a new daily driver on the way (MCS) But i am still keeping my fully restored/custom 1970 VW beetle, hopefully it will get featured in Hot VW in a few months. Its been in the works for 4 1/2 years and is close to being finished. That will give me 2 cars that have been featured in magazines.

I just called ASK MINI. Mine started production on 7/26 and is still at "150-production started" after 1 week. The guy on the phone said it hasn't even started to be built yet, that means it's waiting in line. He said it has a completion date of 8/17 so it my not even start until next week. I asked him about the plant shutdown in August and he said he "wasn't aware of it". I don't understand that since we all seem to be aware of it. However, he said they usually finish on the promised date or within 1 day of it.

This wait is killing me. Especially since there is a ship that leaves on 8/18 and arrives in CA on 9/10 and the next isn't until 8/30 arriving 9/22. Guess I'll be on the later one.

Yeah, I've found that the people at ASK-MINI, who you would think would know more than us, haven't always been the most well-informed. I first read about the plant closure on the MINI site, and then my dealer mentioned it too, but I don't think I've ever been able to get anyone at ASK-MINI to confirm or deny it. It's usually a range of "I don't know" to "I think it might be"

I'm in the same boat (so to speak) of selling my car. They offered a really low amount of money for a trade-in, so I'm most likely going to try to sell it myself. But I have money in the bank to put down a down payment.

How do you figure out what ships are leaving to go where? That your MINI may be on, that is. That seems like handy information.

If you use the link below and go to : and serach by customer center" and the "search by ports". You then enter "United Kingdom" as origin and "USA" as destination. Then departure is from "Southampton" and I am in CA so It's Port Hueneme". You then enter approximate dates and get the schedules.he "Terrier" leaves 8/18 and the "Torrens" leaves 8/30. Click on the voyage number and it gives you its itinerary. Sorry if that sounds really complicated. (Also hope the link works)

Well, here is a list of the boats leaving for Charleston, SC which is the port mine will be coming into! I'm guessing mine will be on the COURAGE on August 18th to arrive in Charleston September 2nd... That would be about right, since then it would arrive at the dealer around mid-September!

SOUTHAMPTON 05/08/2006 CHARLESTON,SC 19/08/2006 FREEDOM EB631-FRE 14SOUTHAMPTON 11/08/2006 CHARLESTON,SC 26/08/2006 PATRIOT EB632-PAT 15SOUTHAMPTON 15/08/2006 CHARLESTON,SC 29/08/2006 UNDINE EA632-UND 14SOUTHAMPTON 18/08/2006 CHARLESTON,SC 02/09/2006 COURAGE EB633-COG 15SOUTHAMPTON 22/08/2006 CHARLESTON,SC 05/09/2006 MANON EA633-MAN 14

EDIT: Oops, didn't paste as well as I thought - from left to right it's: origin port, departure date, destination port, arrival date, vessel, voyage, transit (days).

I was originally in the Week 29 thread and somebody there was actually able to get a list of the VIN #'s for what cars were on what boat. I don't know how you go about getting that information, but it's still pretty cool, and hopefully we can find that out as it gets closer. I'm so tempted to call ASK-MINI again to see if I've gone into production yet, but I'm trying not to call TOO often.

I dunno.... I'd love to be on the Terrier, woof!, but that only leaves 1-2 days after production to get on the boat assuming there is no queue. I don't know if that is long enough.

If my car's finished on August 15th like I keep hearing, hopefully she'll get on the Courage too. It seems to me that once they actually start boarding the boats and getting over here, that's when things get a bit trickier to track.
