Hey all, I'm slated for Aug 18th. That's 33rd week. No VIN number on the site though (checked HTML). Is this normal? The anticipation is killing me. Anyone know any qualified shops on the east coast?

Here are the mods I'm looking at:

DICE iPod setup

Specs:
2006 Mini Cooper S
Dark Silver/Black Roof/Black Stripes
Black/Grey Leatherette
Alloy Patina Interior
Automatic (don't yell at me)
Sport Package
Convenience
Cold Weather
Auto A/C
MFSW
Harmon Kardon

You ordered in the beginning of July from Long Beach correct? What did your MA tell you, did they said you'd have it in September?

When I originally ordered it, they told me 2 months, and said I'd probably get it in September. The last time I talked to the LB dealer, they said that judging by the fact that it hasn't been scheduled for production yet, and probably won't happen until late August, that it will probably be at least October by the time I take delivery.

The OL has never shown anything other than "scheduled for production, with no date assigned yet" . Same thing when I call the ASK-MINI automated system. The live people at ASK-MINI have told me that it should have been somewhere between week 31-33, but as of today, there is still no scheduled production date.

I'm going to try to call Long Beach again and see what they say. And I have a question. For those of you who refer to it as "your" MA .. Are you always dealing with the same person each time? I have a card from the person who ordered the car for me, which I guess would technically be "my" MA, but in the following times I've called, or stopped by to make my order modification, I haven't talked to him again.

All I know is that even though I ordered early July, LB Mini didn't submit the order until the 10th. So it's been 17 days since then, and no scheduled production date yet.

To answer your question- yes personally I've always spoke with the same person. Of course if I didn't like him I wouldn't hesitate to speak with someone else but I asked for him. I researched here who had a good rep and then I had a list of MAs to ask for when I called.

Here's my timeline so far:
Ordered: May 28
Got Production Number: June 30
Scheduled for Production: July 13
Production Started: July 25

So far this is on track for me. Like I said before I was told 3-4 months. Up until today the Owner's Lounge has only read "on order". Now today for the first time it does read "scheduled for production" and has my VIN.

I do kinda question what they told you at LB because from what I've heard here and from what they told me on the phone, 4-5 months, they take a little bit longer than South Bay because of the allocation thing. There was a thread on this somewhere, which now I can't find, that talked about the length it took the different Californina dealers and what there markups are. Since there are only 3 with no markups I chose the dealer with the shortest order-arrival time. I also was expecting a bit more of a wait because I'm sure there are more people ordering trying to get an 06 before production is over.

I wouldn't worry too much, but I also wouldn't put too much into the OL. When calling ASK MINI talk to a person and if they don't have any info the best is to call your dealer. Like I said before ASK MINI told me the dealer has more correct info anyway.

Hang in there!

When I first went to LB Mini to check out the cars, they were saying 4-5 months. That's even what the website said. We went back to submit the Build Your Own order a week later and they were now saying 2 months, because they'd just received an allotment of standard Mini Coopers. Now their website says 3 months, which is probably more accurate for when I'll be receiving mine.

I'm surprised it took so long to get your production number. My timeline is:

Ordered: July 1st or 2nd
LB submitted order: July 10th
Received production number: July 10th

And I've been tracking it ever since So it's going to be coming up on 3 weeks of tracking soon, and it hasn't changed from On Order yet.

Well, I finally took the plunge and decided to talk to a 'live' person on ASK-MINI... Apparently my Cooper went into production July 24th at 5:57am!! Wow, that's an early riser

I think it's cool they can tell you the exact time production started, haha!

Ahhh...ya know maybe that's the difference because I am getting an MCS. Maybe there is less wait for the MC. Well, don't worry then, 3 weeks isn't too long, it just feels like an eternity!

Congrats on your MINI

There are probably other ways, but this is how I got my signature done. The text you just enter into the 'signature' area in the "USER CP" of your account. It's located on the left side of the page under main menu - 2nd line down. For badges, basically, you find the badge you want, then right-click and view properties. There is a web address source where the pic is coming from under "Location". Just copy and paste that into the web address area that pops up when you click the 'insert image' icon (it looks like a hill with a sun and yellow background) that is where all the text modification stuff is above the main edit box...

Thanks for your help. I created my own from different images and then posted it into my gallery and referred the 'insert image' to that location... it's looking great.

Is the factory shutdown going to affect us, do we know for sure? What dates they're shutting down, exactly? Just curious.

I think we are fine and have escaped it, but I dunno, with an estimated completion date of August 16th it might affect us if the latter parts of production are affected by the changeover... I believe it is sometime early August when the plant partially gets shut down for 07 reconfiguration. I'm sure 06's will continue to be built, but it will be at a slower pace.

I thought "production week" meant the week your car started, not finished so I posted in week 30. My car started production on 7/26 and is scheduled for completiion on 8/18. I'm so excited. I am a newbie to message boards but this is my first new car. I was told the plant was closing 8/1-8/14 but my MA wasn't sure.

cooper s convertible
hyper blue with blue interior
sport package
premium package

Does this mean that it is too late to change anything? I am actually looking forward to that date so I will quit being tempted to change my options or color.
I'm looking forward to the time I won't be able to make changes too. Since placing my order 7/21, I have changed colors twice and added an option. They probably pushed my car to the back of the line just in case I change my mind again .

It seems to me that I heard it only takes about a week to ten days to produce a MINI. Seems like it's much longer for us so maybe the partial shut down is the reason.

I thought that as well but I was told from my MA and ASK MINI that I'm in production week 33 with a completion date of the 16th so I guess that it's when it's finished not when it's started.

So what colors did you go through before deciding on DS??

First I ordered Hyper Blue/Black, then changed it Pure Silver/Black then finally settled on DS/Black. Well, at least I am sure about the black roof/mirrors . Although the Chili Red with the white roof sure is pretty. Hmmm....

Yeah, I thought maybe the factory shut down would affect us, since it seems to me that other people's MINIs have only taken about a week in production. August 16th is a long time from now. I need the time to save up more money to put down, but I drove by the dealership yesterday and saw a Hyper Blue (they didn't have any before) - it's so hard to wait!
