Basically, the reason I've been disappointed so far is because they waited over a week to place the order for the car (I ordered early July, it was actually submitted on July 10th), then when I called them to see if the order was placed, they said it had been ordered the week before but ASK-MINI said they didn't receive it until the 10th. Then when I submitted the order, the build-your-own let me add the auxillary input AND Ipod adaptor. When I brought it in, they told me I couldn't have both and removed the input from the order. The next week I read online that it IS possible to get both, and in fact someone had gotten one FROM Long Beach with both things. Then it took about a week for them to call me back about the arm rest even though we went back in person to ask about it and the guy there told me that they'd call me later that day. Overall, I'm very excited about getting the car, but it's frustrating that it's so hard to get information on the production date when other people get it so quick.
Oh, I'm sorry you're having a bad experience. My dealer is South Bay and it's taking a while for everything but that's what I expected. My understanding is that there is a queue and when they take your order, depending on how many is in front of you, it could take a while before your order is placed at the factory. When I call my MA he tells me what status code I'm in. Here's a link with the code info: MINI Production & Shipping Timeline Right now I'm in status 112. Before I ordered I called South Bay and they told me it could take 3-4 months. I also called Long Beach and they told me 4-5 months. I had heard really good things about LB but that was the reason I went with SB. Maybe if your MA isn't giving you the information you need you can speak to the sales manager.

Well, mine was kind of a special case... I ordered June 10th, but purposely had the production date delayed since I wanted to take delivery in September... However, my MA said it would probably update with the production week around last week or something, so I was glad it finally updated today... I knew I would be one of the first weeks in August...

Stella officially has a VIN! The OL is updating more frequently than I thought it would.

Count me in! Production started yesterday, the 25th, at 7:26 am...heh....and I've got my VIN! I'm so excited! It is, it's a reality now. I wonder how long it will take to produce and make it's way over here.

I called ASK MINI and they said production would be completed on the 16th. Being in Texas, at which port does your MINI arrive?

Mine is scheduled for completion on the 16th also... seems like most of us in this thread are right behind each other on the production line, since we all have the same end date

For Houston, it's coming into Charleston, SC...

It does sound like we're all there in a clump together. I just talked to ASK MINI and with a completion date of August 15-16th, it'll be around the middle of September before delivery - how am I/are we ever going to make it?!

So for TX it goes to SC. Interesting, I'd think it would go to Californina, isn't that closer? Maybe there is a reason they do it that way.

My MINI does have a name but I was going to wait until I got "him" before I unveiled it. It's funny, it was the first name that popped in my head as soon as I ordered and has stuck for this whole waiting game. I just want to be sure when I get my MINI that I'll still feel it's the right name.

I also have plates coming but want to be sure I get them before I mention them. Maybe I'm superstitious. Hmmm...

Well, it looks like I'm going to be pushed back again. I don't know for sure, but none of my information has updated yet. It still tells me that I'm scheduled for production, with no date assigned yet, and obviously no VIN.

Yep! Mine's tentatively gonna be called Chili Onyx... unless I think of something else

MiniChik... Well sailing to SC and driving to TX would be quicker than sailing to CA and driving to TX

Arthurbang... That sucks! I thought it updated with the date?! Did it just change back again?! Or were you just expecting it to be this week?

The site never updated. I talked to Tony at ASK-MINI and he told me that it would "most likely" be Week 33, but no production date has yet been assigned to the car.

ArthurBang,

If you are talking about the owners lounge on miniusa website still showing your car "On Order" it is not always accurate. It is sometimes 3 days behind whats actully going on. My tracking just updated today saying it was sceduled for production, but in reality, it started production on Monday of this week. I called the dealer and found out this information, its true what the miniusa website says.

"sometimes your dealer knows more about your car then we do"

But if your car showed sceduled for production and then went back to "on Order" then ignore what i just typed, as i have no clue of whats going on.

Yeah, sometimes the OL can be sort of slow. I call ASK MINI when I want the most up-to-date info. But usually it's a matter of days before OL gets it straight. I just feel bad calling ASK MINI all the time - I'm sure not much has changed since yesterday

Here's hoping the process speeds up for you, Arthurbang!

Hi all,

I ordered my Mini last Friday and the owners lounge just switched me to Scheduled for Production and gave me a vin number. I called 1-800-ask-mini and the automated service gave me a production date of August 17th, so I guess I am in Week 33? It definitely feels more real now with a vin number.

Does this mean that it is too late to change anything? I am actually looking forward to that date so I will quit being tempted to change my options or color.
