I've got 5450 miles on my MINI. The oil service indicator estimates 4800 miles to go until the official oil change.

One month until the anniversary of delivery of my MINI.

Uh-oh. We're about to passed in views by the Production Week 27 (July 3, 2006) Support Group with production week 36 not far behind.

I think DrDiff's unfortunate situation may have put a damper on PW 45 owner participation.

I'm about 400 miles from 10k, and 1600 from my first service. I feel like my tires are a little worn after only a year. Oh well.

1 year ago, we were all watching the ships containing our babies start the journey across the Atlantic.

funny you should ask... I didn't celebrate his birthday... at least not his build date. I tend to think of that as conception but I took delivery on 12/3 so I plan on giving him a full detail on sunday, then hitting some roads for a bunch of fun. I actually took delivery during a PhillyMINI xmas gathering and will be attending that again this year... but it isn't until next saturday

oh and I'm almost to 15k within the year. a little more than I had thought originally, but who cares

Happy delivery anniversary to me!

I'm nearing 6000 miles - definitely at the low range of my mileage expectations.

The problems to resolve at the first service are the following:

1. The steering wheel MINI insignia wing juts out.
2. There is a dashboard rattle.
3. The emergency brake cable needs to be tightened.
4. There is now a brake squeal when applying brakes.
5. The clock on the speedometer has frozen twice. When I restarted the car, the clock was running and was the correct time.

Take a hose and rinse out the brake dust that has built up. Do this about once a week and the squeel will be gone. If not then there is more there.

almost to the anniversary of my delivery. unfortunately i wil be away in milwaukee so we'll have to celebrate a few days early.

skeffers - i have a similar squeak in my brakes. my SA told me the brakes were fine but occasionally (especially fall/spring) you can get a coating of rust/pollen/leaves etc. solution: find an empty parking lot, get up to about 40, and stand on the brakes pretty good. haven't gotten the chance to try it out yet but it should be fun at least.

My gift to my MINI was 10k miles before its birthday. I defined the birthday as the day it was delivered to me.

Yesterday I hit 10k.

I've been noticing the brake squeal as well. I think it is weird that this is the only car I've had that after a year has a brake squeal that people are apologizing for.

My tires seems a bit worn for only a year as well. I only have 5mm of tread left on the fronts, and no I haven't been rotating. Does anyone know what the basic tire warranty is?

I would still like to do a couple of mods in the next year. I need the auto-up circuit for the windows, and would love a 17% pulley. More than likely I will get a cold air intake, hopefully the new Webb Motor Sport CAI.

I saw MIB the night before its birthday. MrsDiff told me tonight that she took it for a bath ysterday. Over 20K miles. No idea the exact mileage. For the first time I did not cry when I saw MIB.

Tried to build a 07 on the configurator. I hate to say this but a 2007 will never replace MIB!

I would like to do a couple of mods in the next year that I should have done this year.

I've got a rear sway bar that has been sitting in my garage since the beginning of the year.

My vinyl e-brake boot needs to be replaced with the Redline leather one I had bought last year.

And my MINI has hit 6000 miles.

I live in the metro NYC area, so public transportation has been a viable alternative for me.

But I do plan to get my MINI over the 10,000 mile mark this year.

Last year the worst mpg I got was 25mpg from city driving. The best was 37mpg from highway driving with 2-3 hours of traffic slowdowns on I-95 in NJ, DE and MD. And the thing is that these mpg numbers occurred two days apart.

I tried this. It did not eliminate the squeal, but it did significantly reduce the sound from annoying to barely a whisper.

I just had my first oil service and had them do an assortment of other things. Just a minor fit-n-finish problem, but my MINI logo is peeling off of my steering wheel. They need to replace the air-bag unit to fix this problem.

I don't know why, but I'm under-whelmed with the service at the BMW shop. They really don't seem organized and the small details are missed.

Getting hard to find this thread. Guess I should bookmark it or something.

My first oil change went well. The peeling logo on the steering wheel requires that the whole airbag module be replaced.

Yesterday my tire monitor went off. Checked the pressure in all of the tires and it was fine. Guess it was just a glitch with all of the snow and ice on the streets. The MINI is really a trouper in the snow, despite my runflats getting a bit bare. Snow tires, I imagine, would just rock.

Tire monitor reset

My Motoring Assistant told us to do the tire monitoring reset procedure once a month. Compensates for decrease in pressure during the winter. Richard suggested that we do it when we send in the payment.

Brake squeal and tire pressure sensor are two things I attribute to the cold weather after two winters in MN.

Just waiting for a ride and figured I'd check on the old thread. I'm almost at 25,000 miles now. I have to get the mid-pipe on the exhaust replaced as it suddenly developed a hole. The brace on the middle skid plate appears to be pulling the pipe in two. the Driver's door sill also lost it's light - but I'm to far from service 2 to get it done :(. I need to put on 2-3K before the parts come in and maybe they'll do it then...

Anyhow, the ride should be here soon. Now that I'm done with school (have a bachelors and everything, 12 years after graduating high-school...) I may finally get back online more. this last year has been killer...

Had a chance to test drive an '07 a couple of days ago. It had the same options as my current '06.

I can definitely say I'm glad I got an '06. I thought that the car was still nice, but had some flaws that I didn't like, such as the engine (no super-charger whine, no burble), the steering (a little too mushy even in sport mode), the speedo (it was big, but had less stuff on it) and other small nits.
