HAHA! Hi!
Wow, I am so happy to see this thread come back!
Just passed 50,000 miles on Sunday night this week, one of the last weekends I will have her. She is about to go to a good friend for a fair price, so I will get to see her often.
In the time I have had her I have gone through 13 tires, 12 were runflats, 1 all weather. I also had to have one wheel re-welded, which happened to have caused 9 of the tires to go bad in the past 10.5 years. Had to have the valves re-machined last year, as well as the entire break system replaced from corrosion. Otherwise, she ran perfectly all year long this whole time. Best car I have ever had hands down.
My new mini was loaded on a ship yesterday.
It is seriously great to see this popped back up.

Earlier this fall, I passed the keys of my MINI to my daughter. She was 5 when the car arrived at our door. It has been like a little brother to her (ha ha) and now she is driving it.
There was a time, in the summer, when she was learning to drive, where I was sure if the whole manual transmission thing was going to work. I can say that for anyone else trying to teach their kid how to drive stick, if they aren't picking it up as fast as you would like, it is probably the quality of your instruction. I took a moment to reflect on how I was instructing her and changed the procedure slightly and she took off from there.
I think when I last looked we had 79,000 miles.
The complete list of mods, upgrades and repairs now includes:
- New engine
- New clutch. while you have the engine replaced you might as well do this.
- New head. I have a RMW big valve
- New header. RMW header that matches the big valve head
- Exhaust upgrade. With the header, head and exhaust it sounds pretty sweet.
- RAM Air Intake. This was made by Randy ?? who was a big here for a while.
- Port and polished supercharger. This was part of the rebuild I had done.

I've passed the 30,000 mile mark.
To do list: replace brake lines, brake pads and rotors, replace serpentine belt and tensioner.
(I changed my username from Skeffers to Skeffers2. Because I could not log in as Skeffers and did not know my original registration email address from 14 years ago, I had to register under a new username.)

I've reached 31,000 miles.
I installed new brake lines (ECS), new rotors (Zimmerman), new brake pads (Akebono) and new brake sensors (Pex).
I had trouble removing one brake line. The fitting on the old flexible brake line would not let go of the hard brake line screw. It just spun around. So I had to grind the fitting off. The end of the screw was concave shaped "(=" so I had to file the protruding edge before it would fit onto the new brake line fitting.
To do list: replace serpentine belt and tensioner, replace oil crankshaft sensor o-ring.

Holy crap! This thread is still alive!
I picked up Jango, my first R53, and was an early part of this thread. Jango was sold when I was moving to a city where I'd only have a single-car garage and he was in an accident w/ the second owner and was totaled by the insurance company (t-boned, all airbags deployed). Jango was purchased at auction, sent to PANAMA and was rebuilt by his new owner. The guy got in touch w/ me via Facebook and I helped him with information on various mods.
I recently got a new R53 in my life... this time a 2005 JCW. Rufus is out in the garage right now (he's a fun car, not my daily driver) in a state of disassembly... getting modded, painted and a deep engine service, along with new wheels, tires, suspension and brakes. :D

I've passed the 35,500 mile mark.
The ABS, DSC, and flat tire warning lights came on and stayed on together. It had to be a bad ABS wheel speed sensor.
The scanner indicated the problem to be the front left sensor, so I replaced it. Problem fixed.

My daughter is driving the MINI now. Probably better for it, although she backed into something and damaged the rear right quarter panel and bumper. The boot is also rusting and that needs to be taken care of soon.
Also, someone cranked the seat height adjustment and broke it. It is now impossible to lower.
