Not sure about the Emden, but the Patriot docked in Charleston at 5:10 this morning.

For those interested in such things I found this picture (static historical, not current) of the place our cars are probably be off-loaded in Charlston.

http://www.port-of-charleston.com/Po...20PIER_jpg.jpg

I'm still looking for anything more, like a webcam of the port or anything with no luck. I'm also fairly certain we don't have anything for the trip to the VDC, at the VDC, or on the way to our dealers (unless we happen to get lucky on watching a traffic cam - but none of us are that ballistic I don't think...)

Well, no pictures, but I did find this: http://www.cruiseserver.net/travelpage/other/ports.asp

Open up the Port of Charleston link ( then vessel schedule) and it shows what ships are docked and unloading and what ships are still in line. Looks like they have multiple docks and that the Patriot is unloading right now and that the Emden is next in line. Boheme and Liberty are also scheduled for 11/30 and 12/1 respectively.

Also interesting, did you know the name of the river that the port of charleston is on? Yep, the Cooper river... What are the odds of that?

According to the schedule, they won't start unloading the PATRIOT until 1pm EST.

I really wonder what the difference is on EDD for people on same boat. It is weird that Minis with farther to travel have earlier EDD than those being delivered one state away from the dock. Minneapolis has a direct train link from Charleston. Maybe nearby deliveries have to go via a only a few trucks.

Take a look at Norfolk Southern's web site. They are a primary carrier for BMW. Their main line runs from Charleston thru Greer. Greer is where the VDC is located. The cars on the Patriot and the Emden will probably be on the same train to the VDC tonight. Most of these must go out of Greer on train because the car transport via truck would be noticable for the volume that goes through that facility. I travel I-85 frequently, 4 days a week, and haven't noticed that many covered carriers on the road. Toyota has a similar setup out of Commerce, GA., about 30 miles from me.

That makes a lot of sense when thinking of the different times for cars to get to other dealers. We have a decent train yard in Minneapolis so that could be why our EDD might be sooner than someone who is located physically closer to the VDC but is further from a train yard.

Just a quick note to say that over the weekend my EDD was set to 12/4, as well. I can't imagine how it will make it through the VPC and to the dealer by then, but that's what they say. I have JCW suspension and tint going on at the dealer, so that will delay things a little. Still, maybe by that Friday?

Discharged

Everyone who was on the PATRIOT rejoice! According to the W&W site, our Minis have been discharged from the PATRIOT. Now back to wondering when the OL will ever get updated.

Let's all hope for a speedy delivery to our dealers!

Any word on the MINIs that were on the Emden? Have they started discharging?

Thank God that there isn't an ocean between us and MIB. I would hope MIB is off the boat at this point or soon.

MrsDiff and I are thinking about the Factory alarm. This would be the last chance to add it into the payments. And I want to eventually get the folding mirrors from New MINI Stuff

Those folding mirrors look really cool! I like the remote option. I wonder how much they will cost to "fit" as they say.

I wouldn't want to ship MIB back accross the pond twice again go hee them do the "Fitting" They would be very EXPEN$IVE folding Mirrors!

I wonder if it would be something that could be accomplished at say a club meeting... Say buy the club buddies a case of beer, but no consumption untill mirrors are installed and functional!

I would definitely be up for "fitting" those myself as long as its not too terribly difficult. I like the idea of a club meeting. Why don't all you other week 45 people come down to sunny FL sometime in February? Or better yet, april, for the Phil Wicks school at Sebring?

The Emden is no longer showing as docked. That must mean unloading and loading is complete. Minis should be on the way soon!

So, it looks like the Estimated Delivery Date is the customer pickup date.

And I'll take some photos.
