MY 2006 - Production Week 45 Support group
Picked up my car tonight! It was dark when I got to the dealer so I didn't get any pics of the pickup event - Here is a pic of the Mini sleeping comfortably in its new bed - the Volvo didn't mind giving up its prime spot (at least for the night anyway). They didn't have time to put the R99's on so I'll have that done next week - then I'll have a new set of 17" 5 spoke bullets if anyone is interested. I even saved the boxes for the R99's so the bullets could be shipped safely.
I'll get some cooler pics posted tomorrow. I can't believe all this waiting is over! It feels a little strange actually. There is a mini in my garage!

Paging Dr Diff......
Since you were nice enuff to invite me into the Astro Black Registry, take a look at my gallery. Took delivery today! Not trying to jump in to wrong forum, flame retardant suit off..........
A few more pics I took at the beach today
I've had the car almost a full day now, and I've got about 100 miles on it. It had 10 at delivery. I've noticed the shifter is a bit balky, and I'm hoping that will smooth out as the miles increase - the clutch seems to need a bit of effort as well - other than that, this is the most fun car I've owned, and there were quite a few people who wanted to talk about the car. The R99's are not on the car yet (obviously), but they should go on this week.
It was 75f today - perfect top down weather. Here are a few pics I took by the water -

Paperwork is done. MIB is on a truck somewhere between South Carolina and Indy.
D&R only has to do the final inspections and install the alarm.
Richard says that they are scheduled to drop off MIB on Monday.
That means Tuedsay to install and possible pick up on Wed.
Thursday we have an appointment elsewhere so that is out.
Too bad I work third shift from about 5 am untill 11 am and then MrsDiff works from Noon untill 9:30 p.m.
Delivery will probably be Friday or Saturday.

great pics! here's a complete opposite. woke up this morning and found one of the first real snowfalls of the year. I proceded to drive all day in the snow and can honestly say this car handles better in the snow than anything else I've driven.

What an awesome juxtaposition of pictures! Bright and sunny by the ocean and covered in snow!
We go about 2 inches of snow last nite here in north eastern NJ too. The Mini lives in the garage so still looks shiney and new. I drove my Xterra today... wanna keep the "newness" on the Mini as long as possible.
Have i mentioned recently that owning a Mini is great????

My car finally made it to the dealer today. They said it would be ready late. It's raining, I'll wait till tomorrow or Friday. My MA is off today too. Really hate to miss work for delivery tomorrow, but it is so tempting.
What kind of kid seats are those
V70R: What kind of kid seats are those? KidDiff1 is in a booster as required by Indiana law untill age 9 no matter weight weight or size. He can fit in a normal seat with normal belt but they have no allowance for anything other than age. Infact his first ride in a MINI was in a 05 JCW MCS convertable with out the booster seat!
KidDiff2 is 2 years and is 30 pounds. 10 pounds away from the magical booster seat. Booster seats are a lot easier to move from car to car than the kid seats.

They are graco infant/toddler seats. They have the latch system, and go in and out semi-easily. These are designed for infants from 20lbs through kids weighing 80lbs. I got them at Target for around $120/ea. In my volvo I have a pair of cosco leather seats of the same design, and I have this set for the 2nd car and I bring them whenever we fly anywhere and have to rent a car. The graco's were pretty badly beaten up by the air carriers - as you can see the armrests are broken and that was due to the many flights we took with the kids over the past year when we checked the seats at the counter.
I was going to see if they would replace them under warranty, but I never got around to it. The cosco leather seats are much more sturdy - and we've been taking them on trips lately. They also repel stains too, having a leather surface.

Why is my Mini Still @ the VDC?
OK, so all you Production Week 45 folks have your Minis, and mine is still listed as being at the VDC! I live in Pittsburgh, and in my last conversation with my MA, I think he was indicating that they are selling slowly here; still, if I had a car sold, I'd be sold, I'd be all over their delivery system trying to get the check from the buyer, wouldn't you?
I am beginning to wonder if there is something wrong with the car that they found at the VDC. I intend to go over the car with a fine-tooth comb when they finally deliver it!

The OL information is wrong at this point. My car still shows at VDC, but it was at the dealer yesterday. I'm picking up at 2 PM today. The dealer said it was released from the VDC 12/2 to the trucking co. The dealer is 30 min. from the VDC and they got the car yesterday.
Skeffers: So how do we know that "most week 45s have not been delivered?" What I'm concluding is simply that no one else is as psyched as I am about getting this Mini to me, or getting the check from me!
I agree with Dawgfan that lt looks like the shippers are going to take every last minute to get that car delivered to the dealer (I once had a shipment of steel almost marked "Lost in Delivery" because the truckers were off bar-hopping in Texas instead of getting the load across the border to Mexico! When the trucking company finally found the drivers, they were in jail and the truck was parked in the lot of a strip joint!), and the dealers are not going to execute that last step in the process and update the OL with the fact that the car has arrived because they then have to jump up and get to work "prepping" the car!
So far, I am impressed with BMW's tracking interface, but not with my dealership, nor my MA!
We'll see how this puppy gets "delivered"!

Plus I'm betting that Week 45 posters will be eager to let us know when their MINIs come into their possession.
