Holy crap... I'm still around 950. My wife is out of town so I've been driving her VW for the past 2 days rather than moving the car seats into the Mini. Its been kind of a bummer but my 2 little guys generate large amounts of crumbs so at least the Mini stays crub free!

Boy, my wife keeps a messy car! Empty Starbucks cups, crumbs, crayons on the floor, pieces of lego.... sheesh! I'm gonna get the Jetta cleaned before she gets back. What a disaster area!

Mine is also approaching 2k. I think I'm at 1950 or so.

That's pretty funny about the messy VW - when we got the mini I started to prepare my wifes 03 passat for sale, and you wouldn't believe the crap in there. Fries, receipts, you name it. I think I also collected around $10 in change, so the mini got a wash that day. She has been driving the mini to work, and I made sure to show her the full 13 gallon trash bag full of stuff before she took the wheel. She said:

"All that stuff wouldn't even fit in the mini!" I think she got the point, as the car has been spotless.

The mini is so damn fun to drive though - A few days after we picked it up, my wife asked me to get some stuff out of the garage which required moving her passat, which was parked in front of the mini. I don't know what came over me, but as I backed the mini out of the garage, I just kept driving. I returned in a few hours, expecting to find her raging mad - she said - "I knew when I heard the mini's engine start that you were going to be gone for awhile". She really understands me.

It sounds like your MINI really is "all that and a bag of potato chips"

Mine is too. I busted 1500 miles yesterday. Had the dealer change the oil at 1200mi, just to be on the safe side.

So far, it's just a blast to drive - NO regrets. Period.

My week 45 is now just over 2 weeks old and has 1100 kilometres on the clock. Here's a pic from yesterday - just after I fitted the lights

gave blue a quick bubble bath... it's 55 today but the hose and everything is still disconnected so I'm not ready to give him the zaino treatment that he so deserves. it breaks my heart cause I can see a few light swirls... but I guess it was bound to happen. I'll take care of that soon enough :D

Had errands to run all over Indy today. Took MIB to D&R (North side) for a much needed bath, Though it is supposed to rain on Sunday and snow Monday. Then an errand on the East side, Two stops on the South side, and back to the West side. Did the entire 465 Donut around Indy. That put over 60 miles in one day now past 2000 miles.

MrsDiff got me a cap from MINIUSA last February for my Birthday. It is almost worn out!

JRZYMINI: What? Only 1000 miles? You have already made a payment and the second one is comming up and you STILL are not through the Breakin process????

Better be careful. Seems that your MINI may feel neglected and unloved. Heck with out proper exercise it may bloat out and loose its agility.

I'm at 1100 now... 100 miles until break in!!! I must say that the car drives noticibly different compared to when it was brand new. Especially in shifting. It definitely feels like it has broken in some.

agreed... the shifter gets MUCH better. hard to explain, but just better. and it keeps getting better btw.

also, for the record... the break in period is officially 1250 miles. I hit 1200, stopped, took pictures and everything... made up my sig. then read the manual the next day at work and boy was I bummed. On the other hand I then got to drive it some more and photoshop in the 1250 from the daylight picture I took of 1250. (you'll notice it's a night picture, but says 8 something AM

I'm nearing 1050 miles.

Recently, I've been hearing some creaks and buzzes from the dash - not loud but something like sotto voce. Oh, and a couple of times I did hear the sound of sand hitting the windshield, but I haven't heard that lately (and I wasn't near the beach).

I find myself spinning the wheels shifting into second every so often... I guess its how I'm letting off the clutch. Anyone else have this?

I posted this in the Exterior and Interior mods area, but I wanted to show it off to my fellow week 45'ers.

I did my first real mod to the MCSC last night (other than screwing on a honda S2000 aerial) - the aero grill.

The top section was quite easy but the bottom section was a bit more difficult. Lots of dremelling (I think that is now a verb) to get the grill to sit flush. The first pic is a before shot -
