D&R MINI of Indy has internet access in the lounge. I plan on making it known that MIB has been collected before I even get to drive it off the lot. I am even bringing a USB cable as to post the pic if at all possible!

I got the customer service satisfaction survey phone call today... gave my MA all 5's.

On the way home some jerk cut me off in a orange MCSC... my first instinct was to be pissed off but how could i be mad at a dude with a Mini?

Hmm, something is fishy.

I checked the tracking site located at miniusa.com and it says my car is en route. So I decided to check where my car is at by entering the VIN at 2wglobal.com. No beans. The car doesn't show up to be boarded. What gives?

Got a call from my MA today! My MINI is at the dealer! She can't gaurantee when I can pick it up, but I'm still optimistic that I can go to Minneapolis Friday and drive it back to Fargo.

Oh yea, and great pictures everyone.

So far, I am impressed with BMW's tracking interface, but not with my dealership, nor my MA!

We'll see how this puppy gets "delivered"!
Well here I am, mgracer514's MA and I just got back from a business trip to Dallas and mgracer's car came in last night. It's already on the prep schedule and I have left a mesage for mgracer514.

So why the bad rap already? That's not fair at all. As a true enthusiast and fellow racer, I am ready to deliver this car and I truly don't know why this is where it is.

I'm still calling my MA and looking for an estimate tomorrow, that's what she said to do. I'm planning middle-late next week myself, waiting (im)patiently behind all the people w/out dealer options and all. Besides, our bank check for the loan isn't here yet (probably will be tomorrow though). I really hope I have it by next Wednesday or Thursday...

(We're getting from the same dealer (different MA) in case anyone missed the connection, I just realized it wasn't super clear...)

That's very nice, but be aware that it's the law in NJ to display plates on the front and rear of a car.

I picked up my car yesterday. It really is a Great Ride! The run flats ride better than expected. It was dark when I got home. I'll get pictures Friday.

first scratch

less than a week old and i already have a scratch on my new MINI I was walking out this morning to warm it up and when i stepped off the curb i hit a patch of ice. I wen't completely horizontal - smacked my hand (with my wedding ring) just above the light and landed on my back on the curb. Besides being a bit bruised im very unhappy about the mark on the bonnet. Its just a little mark that most everyone else won't be able to notice. I wanted to keep it new for as long as possible though, eh.

sorry to hear that james, but at least you're ok. people have been paralyzed by falls like that. I'm sure your car doesn't mind and with a dab of touch up paint you should be just fine. I hear you about keeping it new though... my baby is covered in salt and as much as I want to wash it, they say more snow is coming before the weekend

So I got the phone call late yesterday from my MA stating that the car had come in Monday night and already was in State Inspection and Emissions check! Good News!

Unfortunately, the Credit Union needs a FAXed copy of the Window Sticker to prepare the check (anybody else ever hear of a financial lending institution needing a "Window Sticker"? I never did, in 35 years of car-buying!), and even then it will take from 24 to 48 hours to actually get it to us, so we're looking at a Saturday delivery.

Finally, don't you just love it when your MA monitors (or even knows about) this Forum? Graham, I will speak with you privately on the "bad rap". I might have said, "Not yet impressed" instead! You can still impress me before Delivery!

I'm sure he will impress you. And yah I think it's a good idea that they read the threads, means they actually care. And if you were frusterated I'm sure he would like to correct that rather than have you feel like your upset.

He seems like a good guy and if you look at his mods, I am sure he is quite knowledgable about the minis.

Taking delivery on Saturday

Well, I've been corresponding with my MA, Richard (yes, DrDiff's Richard ), and it looks like I will be picking up my new MINI on Saturday! Here's hoping I don't wreck it before I get it home. New car buying always turns me into a nervous wreck for the first couple of weeks.

I just got a call, the MINI is in the shop and getting the last of the toys applied. It came in a day later than expected, yesterday, and is in the shop today. I was told I'd be called by Tuesday, but how long could it take to install a suspension, side skirts, and door sills? I'm guessing 16 total hours on paper, but whatever. The check should be waiting at home for us right now, so that means with the exception of room for vehicles (have a friends SVT F-150 Lightning in the driveway right now and the cavalier still sitting in the garage) we're ready to go get it.

Looks nice but definitely illegal in NJ!!! Actually, if the cop is a **** he can actually call for a flat tow and IMPOUND your car if you are missing inspection/registration or plates!!! I'd put the plates back on ASAP!

car getting impounded? i dont know where you got that idea from.

my bf and plenty of my friends have been driving without front plates for years in a lot more modified cars and the fines that everyone gets are the "unclear plates" tickets. They usually get 2-3 'unclear plates' tickets per year. In most cases the cops even strike up a conversation about how nice the cars look, but a law is the law...and so on...3 tickets a year -$180 bux, i'm willing to take to have such an obtrusive sexy looking front. I'm not the only one on these forums to agree.
Besides i'm moving out of NJ this summer to a state where front plates are not needed.

Thanx for your concerns though...

On another note...got my wheels and tint put on today....here are the pics.
Tint looks too dark because it was at night and i had to tweak the pics a little bit. I got 35% and it looks perfect, just a nice smokey look....

Wheels are in the sig....
Exhaust is getting put on next week.

Yeah... If the cop is being a jerk it can definitely happen! Infact about a year ago a car (someone else's) was towed from infront of my house for no front plate!!! It was a sunday afternoon and I was home so I walked up to the cop standing there and he said that the car belonged to a local guy he had warned once or twice and now he'd lost patience! I wouldn't risk it but best of luck... it definitely looks better w/o the plate!

In the community paper that they deliver for free in the Police activity section there are often blurbs on cars being towed for bad registration and insurance and the like. that would suck.

Does everyone FORGET these guys get paid to carry guns on the streets, stop crime, small or large, enforce laws, generate revenue and to ARREST people? Why give them any reason at all to "strike up a conversation" with you? These encounters can go bad in seconds, especially with a nervous rookie or a run of the mill hardened SOB, be careful out there...
