ok this is getting way out of line, its a choice I made, i will not get arrested, and also I am moving out of state in less than 6 months...i don't understand your argument that a cop will be more likely to whip his gun out bc I don't have a front plate!!!...i did it because I like it and I just wanted to share, lighten up!

I had a rookie FHP get VERY nervous and nearly did just that with me, over nothing but an encounter over another guy who was stopped merely for a No Valid DL and this cop was arresting him when he could have written a ticket. It's a lottery out there with cop encounters, it's my business, 9 out of 10, even 99 out of 100 could be just fine, but like folks in every business or social situation there is always that one rotten SOB.

You like to gamble that you'll never encounter that one. I call that "russian roulette" when they have the guns and the power to use them. "Spin the wheel" on something as idiotic as not putting on a required license plate because you think it looks cooler that way? I like gambling when there is even a slight chance I might profit from it. Advertising that I like to flaunt the regs isn't my idea of a profitable venture.

But heck it's your life, don't take the advice if you don't like it. IMO.

Err... I was. Now it's looking like next week. They didn't get the JCW suspension in, and had to order it for Monday delivery. :(

You want a NJ cop story? OK, true story. About 8 or 9 years ago I am stuck on the NJ turnpike in a small toyota with thousands of other folks in a gridlock of stop and go traffic going up to maximum speed of maybe 45 mph and then stops again. 3 or 4 sportbikers pretty casually come up working their way thru the traffic, splitting lanes, like it is legal to do in Calif. and every biker does across the Hudson in NY. Not reckless at all just very steady, maybe 10 mph over the prevailing speed of the traffic flow. A couple of minutes later two full bore New Jersey State Trooper cars come flying up the emergency lane at well over 100 mph, passing everyone at an easy 60 mph over our car speed under the overpasses where the lane really narrowed and everything. VERY RECKLESS, total disregard for anyone else out there, just so they could pull these guys and enforce the regs. They had all of them pulled over and were still pretty hyped of from the adrenalin of this "chase." The bikers were calm because they weren't running from anybody, the cops were hyped up because they were running RECKLESS to catch them, Someone could have gotten hurt bad, including those of us getting passed inches from our bumpers by 4000 lbs of steel going over 100mph.

You want to roll the dice and hope your encounter won't be with one of those crazies carrying a badge. I never want to openly give the LEO's a reason to mess with me, but that's just me.

Be Careful out there.

Checked the shipping service site and yes, it looks like an arrival of Dec. 9th instead of Dec. 7th. Oh well, if we waited this long, we can wait 2 more days. In talking with my dealer today, they said just add 5 days to the arrival of the ship and it should be ready for delivery. So, I am hoping for the weekend of Dec. 17th for a pick up. Just in time for the holidays.

Getting used to driving my MCS!!! For the past few years I've been driving a VW Jetta and a Nissan XTerra (still have both) and I'm just getting used to the fact that I can gas it on the way into a curve and pull the wheel hard!!! No body roll and the car responds like a champ! Some people in other threads have mentioned that keeping it under 4500 RPMs is hard for the first 1300 miles... believe that!!! I haven't quite figured out where the power band is yet but it sure seems to be over 4 grand!

For all those who haven't taken delivery... yes, your Mini is as cool as you've been hoping it will be.

Wait are you saying our MINIs are already on the ship and will dock in the US by December 9th?

I'm right there with you... I think I've been using the 3k-4500 band the majority of the time I've been driving. so far only 250 miles put on the car so I have a long way to go. hopefully with all the driving around for the holidays I can rack up some more miles!

I do remember during the test drive that I was enjoying the power all the way to the rev limiter... I'll also second your last statement... the car is worth the wait. no matter how hard the wait is, it's worth every second of it.

I'm still only at ~135 miles. Dam my short commute! And since my MA brought the car to me at work it already had about 30 miles on it. On Sunday I let my cousin drive and he put about 5 miles on it. So actually I'm only about 100 of those miles!

The dealership called... They have my license plates in. It'll be cool to nose around when I'm over there. Maybe they'll wash her for me.

Anyone else notice the back end of the car gets pretty dirty while the front and sides are completely spotless?

Not really. However, the passenger side of my car had a swath of mud across its bottom because I drove through a dirty puddle--once again a steering misjudgment. And I need to install mud flaps.

The WW site still indicates that the Tosca is expected to arrive PORT HUENEME Friday Dec. 9th., but I really like your enthusiasm, and it looks like some of us may actually receive our cars next week!!! Reading all the posts of those who received their Mini's makes me more anxious.
Thanks, vincesf

Yup. I was talking with a friend and he said if someone would come out with mudflaps, a diffuser, something, anything he'd be all over it. Mine is absolutely filthy inside a quarter-mile after I've cleaned it.

I think moss or someone like that sells rear mudflaps. after watching the snow flying off of the tires almost straight up today I'm inclined to buy them too!

Great pics CoopCoop! Now I am REALLY psyched about tomorrow's delivery!

OK, so who has pointers on the delivery process? I have NO DOUBTS in my MA's ability or capability to do a first-rate Delivery. After all, he does race a Mini, and he has modded his out extensively...

I am more concerned that we'll get there and just glaze over (in racing, they call that the "red mist"), and unintentionally lose attention (or maybe I mean "lose consciousness" waiting for him to hand over the keys!). I saw on another post somewhere that someone said to 'make sure that your MA sets the computer up correctly'. Is that a big deal?

I will post pics tomorrow as soon as we get home!

Thanks all! This has been a great support group!

The rear mud flaps are for the Cooper only, not Cooper S. I believe they replace the black plastic trim on the rear bumper, which is shaped differently. So, for MCS's, front mudflaps only.

Somewhere underneath about 6 inches of snow is a lot of salt and road grime from about 300 miles in my first week. I've noticed the back is much dirtier than the sides/front but the whole thing is covered with grime at this point.

maybe by the end of the weekend i can do a proper cleaning...until the next storm blows through.

LOL, I kind of did that exact thing. I glanced at the paperwork and saw that the numbers were somewhere near what I had figured out and just started signing. 2 days later when reading everything over completely I realized that the MA had gotten me a better rate through MINI and my payments are around $40/month less! maybe their calculator over-estimates the payments so they have some wiggle room, but this was a nice surprise to me! If I had known that I would have gotten HK or something additional. ahh well, probably better to keep the money in the bank :D

Killing me slowly

It is really killing me now. I know my MINI is at the dealer. All that needs to be done is a good inspection by some techs, and it could be mine, all mine.

I'm having trouble focusing at work. I keep checking this thread to see if CeridianMN has got his yet (same dealer), cause then at least I know that I could get that call at anytime.

If I don't get it tomorrow, I don't know if I can make it through Sunday to Monday.

Say it ain't so. I can't remember, did you have some dealer addons, or was there some other problem? Checking back, I see you got the silver stripe as I have, but I ordered the stripe as a factory option. Are you telling me I may have to wait for a stripe?

My MA said that they are motivated to book as many as possible before the end of the year. Of course that is far, far too long.

Nah, you'll be fine. I was waiting for the stripe but now they are all factory applied, which is good because Motorwerks didn't do the greatest job on mine (dirt under it).

I hear you. My wife is very ready for the process to be over and the car to just be here. I know I'm supposed to be getting a call Tuesday, and my car had gone into the shop on Wednesday morning. I had asked if I could get it by next Wednesday/Thursday as I didn't want to rent a car when some family came into town next weekend so my MA said she'd see what she could do.

I'm a little sorry that I may have pushed your delivery back a tiny bit for what that's worth...
