Week 3 (1/11-1/17/09) Support Group
Ah well. Just got an email from my MA saying my lil barn doors of fun will arrive in Charleston on the 12th. That would mean it's on the K-Line vessel "CARIBBEAN HIGHWAY." Looks like I'm going to be fashionably late to the MINI party.
09BlackJCW,
Congratulations!!! Your MINI looks awesome, and I am so jealous! My Oxy Blue came over on the Sierra Nevada which docked on Sunday, and my MA says it is still waiting for a truck to make the trip to San Antonio from Charleston.
I am really hoping we can pick it up next weekend, the wait is killing me too!
Thanks for sharing the pictures!

o9blackjwc,
Congrats, I think your the 1st week 3 production delivery on this forum. Enjoy- Mark
drchris32,
The Dow, I'll give you how I see it and there are many different opinions. The drop and many of the problems with the economy currently I feel is a result of excessive negative media exposure gone wild. Yes we as a country allowed so many small companies, to be aquired by a few and when the few failed the effect was magnified, Case in point AIG. We allowed lobbysists to exploit and create so many loopholes that the system basically failed itself.
Now with mistakes we will learn, change and correct. As for the Stock Market and the Markets around the world they will recover. This I feel is a temporary
leveling of the playing field and a path to get back to where we should be.
We will all do fine, we just need to re-evaluate our core issues, our families and our health, we need to take responcibility for our own actions and re-adjust the learning curve. I apologize for the rant. but I'm pissed about the way things are going and I want to help improve it, But I'm just the average
american without the connections to make a difference. Mark---

Looking forward to some photos from Mark and mccsab in the next couple of days.
Those of us waiting on the Pacific Breeze looks like we are due at Panama Canal at 10am 7th Feb but we are not booked through yet

I think my kids have had enough of my MINI obsession, look what they bought me for my birthday yesterday. They said it was to keep me going but my wife said something about keeping me quite.

The best info I had on the Pacific Breeze was from ShipAIS as of 13 days ago. They say the Pacific Breeze was due to arrive in Panama today (Friday, the 6th) at 11:00 hours (GMT?). I've been keeping an eye on an AIS tracker and the canal webcams all day, and I thought I'd missed it!
Glad to hear it's just delayed a bit from the earlier estimate.
And, if I read that booking list correctly, it's due to arrive on the 7th, but not go through the canal until the morning of the 9th.
I know I'll be watching... for this... here.

oldchicago,
I put about 100 miles on the car today; any stupid excuse to add the miles was fine by me! WOW. I love the handling, the interior, everything, etc., etc.....
Anyway - you mentioned you wanted to know about uploading images - maybe this will help:

I'll be taking pictures tomorrow. Cheers!!

Congratulations 09blackjcw and mccsab (plus anyone else who has their Mini now)!
Delayed gratification for me - my Clubman hasn't arrived at the dealer yet and the MA doesn't know when the truck is coming in from the VDC. It will probably be next Friday by the time the car is ready and I can get a ride up there for delivery.
Oh well, one week with a very small carbon footprint will make up a little for all the motoring I'm going to do in the coming months

Are the K-Line vessels that slow, or do they dawdle more in their ports of call? The Wallenius vessels seem to get in and back out of harbors within hours, which surprised me.
Congrats Mark... keep that smile on your face, cant wait to see the photos
That first picture captures a tough decision I had to make right before my order... Crown Spokes or JCW Challenge Spokes? I, too, went Crown Spokes in the end.
Also, how are you liking the bushed alloy trim? That's one part of my order that the dealer never had available for me to look at before hand.

fishbert,
I liked the crown spokes, I thought they were stylish, The brushed alloy with appears to be thick aluminum has a very nice pattern to it. rough to the touch, but really cool. - Mark
mccsab, Where are the pictures.............

oldchicago: beautiful car! I particularly like your interior choice. It matches really well with the exterior and looks great. Congrats and enjoy motoring in your new baby.
Btw, thanks for posting pics. I'm sure all of us who are patiently (or impatiently) waiting really appreciate seeing the brand new minis of those we've gotten to know on these boards.

mccsab and oldchicago,
Your MINIs look great! Thanks for sharing pictures...Mine has finally made it to Texas but the truck broke down and a new one was dispatched to bring in the MINIs! I am hoping to take delivery on Tuesday. I will post pics of my own soon!!!

OldChicago & mccsab... thanks for making me jealous and even more impatient now
hehehe
The red interior is WAY cool looking... and works great with the chili red paint! This was my 1st pic too... black roof on mine to match the C-pilars on the Clubbie... (body color roof was not an option when I ordered).
In hind sight, second pic would be racing green with grey top & pillars, and some sort of tan+wood interior. But I just turned 40+.... so it HAD TO be red and fast!!!
Ship should cross Panama Monday morning... Latest ETA at VDC is 2/18... looks like 2 more weeks for the West-Coasters

My Oxy Blue has finally made it to the dealer. My MA just sent these pics taken before the detailing...but it is a beauty! I guess I am a little biased. We will probably pick it up tomorrow, but thought I would share my excitement with all of you too!
I just found out that MINI is building a new dealership here in Austin, so I won't have to drive 90 miles to San Antonio for service!!! It is in North Austin, so I won't even have more than 15 miles to go!

So happy that the people on this thread are starting to take delivery and the pics look fantastic.

Have fun guys
