Wheeeeee!!! And we're off to the Pacific!

So, totally off topic, who here has had any experience with the MINI's windshield wipers...are they lame or substantial? I realize this is a question probably better suited to the general 1st gear forum, but if anyone has any input, I'd be grateful! I was thinking of getting the PIAA super silicone blades. I have a thing for clean windshields...it's weird...I know...

cheers!

I just received this awesome email:

I understand you have something of value on the freighter vessel Boheme.
You do value Cooper? For 1000 USD I guarantee safe passage to Port in California.
The waters between Panama and Mexico are dangerous. Pirates and mercenaries can take over vessel.
Kindly respond with your address or US zip code so I setup meeting point for transaction.
Which is either some kinda scary spam... or one of my idiot friends trying to goof on me.

I really hope it is a friend of yours! I would hate think that our information is floating around out there somewhere...

If it is a friend, that message is very funny. (keep your fingers crossed)

Is it just me or is the ship just crawling along slowly. It seems to have taken forever to get through the canal to where it is today.

Maybe it's the Pacific which is slowing it down. Whats the ETA at the port?

I wonder if it will still be the 10th, as it was one day late through the Panama Canal. The schedule originally said 6/2 and it ended up going through on 6/3. ????

The Fallstaff, which was the previous ship that some of us just missed, also experienced a 1 day delay after it hit the Pacific. (if that's any indication)

No updates from SailWx or AISlive, but per my calculations we should be around the Guatemala/Mexico border now.

This gives us about 2000 nautical miles. If we maintain 16 knots speed (we might be able to go faster), the journey will take 5 days. This puts us in port on 6/11 as of now, which means LA area customers MIGHT start getting cars around 6/18 give or take.

I hope that story about Pirates and mercenaries didn't actually happen, no updates yet!, I'm watching Telemundo, make sure they don't show a bunch of stolen MINIs cruising around Guatemala in the News!

Our ship's position was updated again last night. Still looks on track to arrive at the PH VDC in the afternoon on June 10th. I really hope I can pickup my new Mini on Saturday, June 14th, since my dealer is only about 45 minutes away from the port. I'm jealous of all the East Coast week 20'ers whom have already received their cars!

bb, I am with you crossing fingers for the 14th. Their position as of 07Jun at 1200 UTC was 1370nm from Port Hueneme as crow flies. That equates to 4AM PST. Should put them in around 6PM on 10Jun. I happen to have a perch on San Clemente Island and will start looking for the Boheme on Tuesday. I will take a pic or two if I can spot it.

The Boheme has picked up ground( or ocean). It was 954nm from Port Hueneme at 4AM PST traveling at 440nm/day. Could be making port by late morning on June 10.
Go Boheme Go.
