Week 14 Support Group
ASK MINI told me today that my car was passed off to the shipping company! From what I've read elsewhere on this site, I should expect to be able to track it by VIN at the shipper's site by some time tomorrow.
I am actually a week 13 and my mini is also on the Tristan heading for NYC I wonder why the ais website is showing the Tristan as being anchored though. Is that normal? I certainly hope so because I can't wait to get my mini.
Me too, driveblind!
They suggested I call my MA to find out the name of the ship...but I'm going to attempt to check that site with my Vin# first. I hate to be seen as being obsessed.
MJB - great news for you as yours is heading to NYC sooner. Don't worry about the "anchor"...perhaps they're waiting for clear passage...or our Clubmen.
Prost - are you saying that your ship is going to dock in Canada? Are the USA bound cars then transported down?

) then to SoCal via Panama Canal
Just thought I would give you a heads up the Tristan is not arriving into NYC until 4/12/08 they changed it on the WW site. Oh well only two days late.
Fedora it is!
The WW site finally has my new little bundle of joy showing up in their tracking system! It's on the Fedora, which will be leaving Southampton on April 7 and is expected to arrive in NYC on April 17th! So, who else is joining me on this ship?
Ahoy, matey! Thanks for the heads up!
With arrival just after the IRS's favorite day.
Very exciting - looks as though delivery for me, since I live just north east of Manhattan, will be either the last days of March or the first week of May.
Have you bothered to talk to your MA yet, driveblind? And by the way, what made you choose your NAM "handle"?

My handle comes from a great song by a British band called Ride. The song "Drive Blind" is on their first EP put out in about 1990. It's what I use for most of my online handles, including my website - driveblind.net. The name just happens to be especially appropriate on this board, although it's not something I would necessarily recommend!
Thanks for your quick response - it's a great name, but thanks for posting that caveat!
I guess we'll see if any others are making this trip across on the Fedora soon.
Thanks again for keeping on top of this - I'd checked last night but probably wouldn't have gotten around to it until oh, maybe, 10AM?

FEDORA
So far you, OTRA, and me on the FEDORA. Anyone else? I've been away from my computer for a few days and finally sat down to check the WW website and when my little baby popped up my heart started racing....
I'm trying to think of possible names. Trying to pick a boy one and a girl one because I'm not going to know until I go to pick it. So far I have Dexter if it's a boy and Simone if it's a girl. LOL, this is so freakin' fun.....I can't believe it's at port already!
So you're up in Buffalo, eh? Are you planning on dedicated snow tires?
My sister is up that way, so I know about the lake effect. Just the other day she was cross country skiing, but I know that any snow at this point doesn't stick around for long. Wondered if your name reflects a former life in Oregon? I'm from down south in NY - on the coast, just below Connecticut.
It looks as though yours is that Sparking silver..an S? Very nice color combination and it sounds as though your Clubman is really going to look spectacular inside and out.
The Fedora - quite the name. I have decided it has a very classic, old fashioned ring to it.

Oh ya, dedicated rims and snow tires for sure. I think I'm going to do 15" rims for the snow. I haven't decided what kind yet, I'm still doing some research. I'll probably look for some used MINI rims.
My former lives are in IL and NC. I used buffaloregan22 for my email and stuff when I first moved here because it was easy for me to remember, pretty lame huh?
Nope, not an "S." I have 1990 Turbo AWD Talon that's been nothing but a pain in my a??. At one point I rebuilt the turbo, which was fine and dandy but the thing's had problem after problem (not witht the turbo) and even though it was fun to drive, at this point I'm more interested in better gas milage vs. power and sometimes think the turbo is just another thing that can fail. I didn't even test drive an "S", because I didn't want to want it, but man I was really sad to not be able to get that dark silver color.
Fedora, old and classy...ya. Though I must confess I was secretly hoping it was going to be something a little more snazzy like the Don Juan, but it's the Fedora and I will love it because that's where my MINI is.
I'm trying to decode the VIN, have you been looking into it at all?
First, congrats MINIchaser - book mark the shipping page and start checking that now!
Buffaloregan... I only just realized - it's oregAN not oregon!
Show's how observant I am. What's in a name anyway?
I hear you re the S. Honestly, I have found myself driving too fast already in my regular Cooper, without realizing it so I'd shudder to think how fast I might find myself in an S. Agreed about the gas mileage, as well.
Dark Silver and Sparkling Silver are both really nice. I think, and I could be stoned for this, that sometimes there are just too many choices. I labored between Lightening Blue and BRG for a long time.
Yes, Don Juan would have been catchy, but Fedora reminds me of the old film noir era.
Nope - not going to delve into the VIN, but will hand it over to my insurance company soon.
Let's hope for a safe and speedy passage across the pond and to us!

Otra,
On your signature what does the "a" in MCa stand for? Are you getting the stripes?
Driveblind,
Speaking of your online handle. When me and my sister were kids we had an electic go-cart we used to drive around the house in. One time she was driving with her eyes closed and I was telling her where to go. I've never been that good with right and left and we ended up slamming full blast into the corner of the neighbor's house.
My husband is sitting here making fun of the name of our boat the FEDORA. He's calling it "Hat Boat." He's totally taking advantage of my obsession.
Twice today he's asked me what the latitude and longitude of my MINI is.
