Christen away! Let us know the date. We have young sweet spumantis, whatever you call the American stuff, and something vaguely French wasting away in the cooler parts of our home. We'll raise a skinny glass to your new toy. Enjoy!

Man that is extreamly cool that the VDC can pass it thru to the Dealer so quick.
Maybe I still have Hope to get mine Next Weekend. Its supposed to arrive in Charleston Saturday March 1st. on the FAUST.
I Hope , I Hope, I Hope......

Dkamp - So many things are done at the VDC, your time at the VDC is dependent on your upgrades.

You saw Oxtox's beautiful Convertible BRG, MCS Sidewalk right -- we he was on the Elektra with my little Beautiful Convertible BRG, MCS Sidewalk thats still at the VDC and per my MA will be there at least through NEXT Friday !

I am not sure if the JCW is installed at the VDC or in Oxford, but my MA said my Areo kit was being installed yesterday and after that the sound system -- I think the Digital Sound Module will take them a while as well. So it really comes down to your options you selected.....

I'm told that JCW is installed at the VDC and takes a week.

Yup, sounds about right. The areo kit, DSM, Areo kit and probably Sirius as well. I think the dealerships install decals, Union Jacks and the like. I just hope the VDC moves quickly....as we all do

Announcing the arrival of Randolph Wadsworth Cooper. I'll post more pix tomorrow, but this is a quickie taken from my cell phone camera before leaving the dealer. Drove it home topless in 45 degree weather.

Gorgeous convertibles! I'm considering selling my BMW convertible and buying a 2008 or 2009 Mini Cabrio.
Can you tell me how the visibility out the rear window is with the top up? Also, the comparison of the S versus non-S for acceleration. I would think the S would match my Clubman S for power, but I'm wondering.

The BRG is the color I was considering so to see the real thing is so much better than a configurator.

Enjoy All. I know how much I love my Otto Clubby.

Randolph looks great, Ms. Mingel! That Nightfire Red is a great color! Congratulations!

We're suffering through a Saturday with no information from the Port of Charleston, where we're due in today. Sigh. Only two weeks or so to go!

i think i can help you (at the risk of being off topic). my previous ride was a e46 m3. my 10 year old son noticed on day one that the mini corners better...and that was before he put on the strut tower brace this afternoon. i'm probably not gonna see 0-60 in 4.6 sec, like my m3, but seriously, how often can you use that kind of power? visability is not good. i'm waiting on a set of multivex mirrors to address that issue. i've only driven the s. '08 is a supercharger, '09 will be turbo-like the tin tops. i felt too much torque steer with the turbo for my tastes....others seem to love it. good luck. i'm in love!

Thanks, Ox-tox, Cloud9 and Quesera. Looking forward to much top down motoring. And, just to set the record straight, the "MS" in "MSMingel" stands for Mark Steven, not Ms. Those on the Faust and other ships, I have no doubt that your ship will come in soon and there will be freaking mucho new Minis on the roads this spring.

The Faust made the Charleston port at 03/01/08 at 13:20! The Port of Charleston website says it departed at 19:00. So we must all be unloaded. Hopefully they were gentle with our MINIs!

That's good news...now we wait for trucks. Wonder how long it takes to get from Charleston to Kansas City by semi.

My MA emailed that it would probably arrive at the VDC today or tomorrow.

ASKMINI lady confirmed its arrival in Charleston but seemed to think it was going to be loaded onto another boat. I just said thanks for your help.

Does anyone know if they travel by truck or rail from the Charleston port to the VDC? Is the VDC at the BMW plant in Spartanburg (about 200 miles from Charleston ) or is the VDC right at the port?

Just poking around, I found the BMWUSA factory site which has a National Geographic Ultimate Factories video on the manufacture of the Z4. It's a nice companion to the MINI factory video on MINI's website.

Can you tell I'm really anxious to take delivery?
